Apple and other companies made personal computers, Microsoft give platform through the operating system for it, then for internet search engine Google was created, then for E-commerce Amazon was created, then for people to get connected Facebook was made. This is because people used to by default use Google as a Search Engine so if you're not using Chrome, it'd show a popup saying "Use Google Chrome for better internet experience". And, people did install seeing that but Microsoft tried to backfire by making Bing as default search engine for IE, but that still didn't help them. xD

There is something common in most of the business strategies... it is that first they probe an access into your world and then they make that world a difficult place to exist without them. How Microsoft managed to kill competition was solely due to the fact that its competition used the same access as they did, WhatsApp and Facebook found alternatives.

They switched because Ms and Google both have their Enterprise plans for students and education market which by default gives them free windows and free office and online storage depending on the plan they choose. Guess what Teams is part of that enterprise plan for free of cost unlike zoom's business plans which cost heck of a lot of money. No business will want spend extra if they are already paying for Microsoft 365 plans.

Also it was my personal experience, Microsoft collaborated with my Regional University and it mandated all students to download teams for lectures and online classroom purposes. I being a student came to know about team's existence when the college shared the link

My collage uses zoom for online classes but my brother's collage uses teams and I think teams is best coz for my zoom classes we can't join them until our teachers share zoom like but it's different with teams u just shedule a meeting in the meets calendar and u will also get notifications when it's time for a meeting but I feel zoom is more user friendly when we use it on phone

Excellent video Ganesh, but i want to add to this that microsoft has left the personal computer business to google, while it targets B2B operations now with its enterprise tools and cloud computing, Teams mainly competes with slack and is used in professional setups, while zoom won the race for personal video conferencing platform.

Now here is one little info, Some time ago, sundar pechai forecasted that Microsoft any time can kill google so they should work on their own browser in case. So they were working secretly and one day from no where Microsoft shifted to bing as default search engine. I still remember, i was very young there and as daily habit i searched google and immediately there was one big heading saying " download Google chrome, free of cost for now " or something like that so i immediately downloaded it. And that was delivered in 24 hr.... So it kinda saved google and that's why sundar pichai was made a ceo :)

You are quite right about Microsoft. For the past few months I have been monitoring the same issue with Microsoft edge browser. Whenever I open any website or take my online classes on chrome it takes time even with the fast internet speed and my classes buffers a lot but when I do the same thing in Microsoft edge with the same wifi network it works very well.

Yes developing an OS is one hell of a task even today. And Microsoft has gone through that hell to make windows, and on top of that they developed their own internet browser as well. Netscape was great no doubt, but IE was just better back then because it integrated well with windows and windows happened to be the most widely used OS. MS EARNED THIS PRIVILEGE. It wasn't easy for them either. If it was all for MS' evil tactics, then how did google chrome surpassed IE later? Why didn't MS kill them as well? It's the survival of the fittest. Netscape wasn't fit enough to survive. I don't understand how is MS wrong for being fitter.

You can still add Google Chrome where MS brought Edge Chromium and it’s almost same as chrome now with good features compared to lightweight Microsoft

At the same time users from India were forced particularly in defense sector not to use zoom as 55% of the developers are from China even though its a american company. Also, microsoft focuses more on future like they are providing microsoft teams to schools and colleges which forged them to use the same product in future. But google tried to penetrate this market with google classrooms but it didn't succeed with microsoft. Also., I don't understand why don't school and colleges don't prefer zoho workspace over teams either in terms of cost and compatability. Personally I used both of them iam very impressed with the service of zoho than teams. Can you just work on this angle or mail me if any details required.

This is a intersting analysis, wanted to know your take on Microsoft acquiring products like Skype for a high cost and later building enhanced products for the same purpose on Teams. What would be the ROI for such strategies.

@@cashmoney2159 Microsoft entered the Open Source scene only under Satya Nadella. Under Steve Ballmer they were very reluctant to go the open source way.

Microsoft under nadella is more focused on enterprise business than on consumers. The only consumer brands they have are windows, surface and xbox(outlook and teams can considered consumer side as well but they are used by businesses as far as i have seen). Many of the business worldwide are dependent on open source. Like Linux for servers, chromium for web apps, Unreal Engine for games and movies. So, it makes sense for enterprise microsoft to get in the open source market. Thats why they acquired github, made visual studio code open source and making some of the components of windows open source as well like directx (its not fully open source but some of its library are).Thats why they came with 'Microsoft loves linux' and created windows subsystem for linux. So, that business remain under the microsoft ecosystem and make money from microsoft 365 which has 50 million subscribers.
