This is without doubt your best video imo - truck drivers and processors play a vital part too and well done for the shout out to them. Your channel is on a roll at the moment 👍
Growing up on a dairy farm and now hauling milk for a living. It really is massive operation that you dont normally think about. When I leave a farm, I always do my best to make it look like I was never there. It can be a hard business to be in. But it really is enjoyable
It was pretty interesting to see how much detail is involved with transferring milk from your farm to the trucks. Safety seems to be very high on the list of priorities and that is comforting. Again I also see how much care you give your ladies. Having supplies restocked by a company seems pretty efficient. Thanks for giving recognition to the truckers that serve your farm. You are a really nice young man and thanks for sharing this video.
Hi, You're parents are so lucky to have you and your sister so interested in dairy farming. Evidently your father "taught" you well instead of just using you for cheap labor. Glad to see that you have a career in life that will hopefully last a lifetime. My old farm was just 30 cows on a 136 acre farm in NY, like everything, I got older and couldn't do all the work. I'm so jealous of your barns and equipment. I love the idea that you seem to truly enjoy the farm. When I first started watching your videos I was not impressed with that backwards hat business. But, i saw the vid where you explained why you wear it backwards. So, now I understand that you are not just some wise *** kid. and that you have a truly remarkable head on your shoulders for someone so young. Anyway, I wish you and your family all the best with your beautiful farm
@Michael Smith, I enjoyed reading your comment. To bad the app cut-off the end of it. If you wanted to you could finish your comment down here in the reply section. I'd read it. btw... I think I got this app thing partly figured out, anything more than four lines is subject to being cut-off. Why, I do not know? Help, if anybody knows how to fix comments from being cut-off after four lines.
@Michael Smith My extended family are farmers and although when working for parents when a person is a young adult may not always be well paid, if everything is managed right eventually the farm is either handed down or bought from the parents by the children who may wish to continue the tradition. My aunt & uncle owned a potato farm here in Canada and two of their five children bought the farm out with their spouses. My cousins did a magnificent job when they got it as they bought brand-new equipment and new root cellars, organized it, etc. Now that we're all getting close to retirement age, my cousins have like-wise begun to sell and hand off the farm to their children as well. I'm glad they take a couple samples of milk on Jan's farm to be 100% sure because my cousins ended up having to go to court regarding a single contaminated soil sample and over the years the inspectors still can't reproduce the results. Do you think my cousins got any damages from the Canadian Inspection Agency? Nope! It took YEARS for them to restore their reputation. I'm surprised that at the end of the day Jan's farm doesn't take a milk sample for their own back-up. I am sure the milk trucker is a great guy, but I've seen in my own industry where you get multiple mistakes on different ends. It never hurts to do three samples two for the milk trucker that he takes and one for the farmer to keep long term dated, stamped and put in a fridge or freezer.
So many different aspects of the Dairy Operation in todays vlog. Also thank you for highlighting the importance of the Milk Truckers and Suppliers, well done. .🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜 🚜
É muito trabalhoso, aqui no brasil não é diferente produção de leite é assim mesmo. Mais deus da força sou profissional tambem abraços amigo ! Meu zap brasil 55 35 9 98286111
That was really cool footage of the milk truck, and the process the gentleman must follow in order to not contaminate any of the various stages of milk containment and shipping. I never knew so many precautions were in place to protect everyone from the farm to our tables. Super fascinating! Thanks, SaskDutchKid!
it's is so nice in Canada knowing that our milk is antibiotic free etc and that the controls provide us with just nice pure milk for ourselves and our children!!! Thank you!!!!!!
I have just began watching your videos in the last few days. I am so impressed with your amazing work ethic. With everything that is going on in the world, Covid19, riots and protests you have given me so much hope for the future of our existence. We hear so much about the bad and to see your videos and to watch you perform your daily chores really helps. You make a lot of people realize that there is hope! Thank you from a very great full senior citizen. I am sure your father is extremely proud of you!!! Thank you.
OMG, you are amazing! Showing love and appreciation for everybody in the milking industry was the tops, Jan. You know they never get the pat on the back/ 'the atta boys'. THAT'S ANOTHER GOLD STAR FOR YOU. Excellent video from start to finish. THANK YOU!
Great video. Thanks for giving a shout out to the others involved in the dairy business - Tanker drivers, suppliers, etc. ! And thanks for taking such good care of your "girls" - your care and caring for your animals is above reproach.
Hey Jan, You sure are one amazing guy, great videos too. Thanks for all you do to show us what goes on with your dairy farm. You are just non-stop! Great showing and thanking every one else that's involved in getting milk out for us to consume. Stay safe and healthy Jan!
Thanks Jan! I asked you to hit this topic several months ago. as I wondered what came next. As kids, we used to visit our uncle who was a dairy farmer in Michigan, We saw some of the processes. We knew (in later years) he had a line that led from the barn to a pasteurizing building; but we never really learned about what happened there, or the process of the milk truck. Your barn setup and milk truck process is so smooth and sanitary! Thanks for staying up late to give us this view. I'm often up to 2 or 3 in the morning; and I am reminded that you farmers have "hit the hay" much earlier. You're great. Blessings to you and the family!
Awesome job kid. 👍 I really like your farm setup and how ethically you treat your animals, they all look healthy and happy, those who are sick you take good care of. Props to you there. Many farms just kill or abuse the animals in their care. So I will honestly say your videos are very refreshing and educational! You run a great farm as well! 👍👍👍
Thank you 😘 great video as always. Your reaction to the cow after giving her Antibiotics while she was leaving to the special need at 10:50 is priceless 😀
I'm impressed by the way you don't complain and just go about getting what needs to be done and making an honest living for your family and employees. Hat's off to you young man!
As milk drinkers we appreciate the quality in the effort you do to make sure the milk and productions from milk are first class. From a ranch in New Mexico we milked two cows routinely for our use and I helped a neighbor with more milk cows manually milking and running thru a cream separator. Thanks
Very interesting. You do a great job on your videos. I've learned so much about dairy farming. The trucker was a natural on the camera. Thank you all for working very hard. ❤
Very cool to see some of the delivery side of things. You are really making top quality videos now! In my opinion your in the top 3 of the farming channels I watch. Millennial Farmer, Welker Farms, and SaskDutch Kid! Keep up the great work, we appreciate it! Especially the really dirty stuff! 💯👍
If you're enjoying the Millennial Farmer and Welkers then you absolutely need to check out Mike Mitchell in SW Saskatchewan. Here's his last video; it's a gooder: "Ole red got HUMBLED! 😂" on RU-vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hqKMsjwJnWo.html
I'm a Milk hauler in the states. I've picked up Milk in Phoenix, Az and currently in Tillamook , Oregon. I really liked that driver! He looked and acted professional and he was knowledgeable about his professional and he seemed really happy about it. I also have to say that your farm and , especially your milkroom look fantastic! In phoenix I picked up at only one megadairy and it was a beautiful milk house. Now in Tillamook, I can visit 20 different smaller farms in a week and they dont care very much about appearance or keeping a clean milk house. It can be very frustrating to immediately be covered in mud and poop just from your first stop and you still have another 8 farms and 12 hours left to go. But I love seeing the farms and talking with the farmers. Most of the ones today are second and third generation on the farm and they are just good people and would give you the shirt off their backs. I'm blessed to be able to deal with them and be paid to do it.
Great video as usual Jan. Awesome to see the tanker driver in the video. When I lived on a small farm from 2001-2006 I would go over to my neighbors and watch the tanker truck take the milk, it was a kool experience to see it up close.
i really appreciate the milk guy explaining and showing everything and for how thorough and sanitary the whole procedure is. Jan you should take a lesson from him because in one of your videos you put the milk filter on the stairs before you put it back into the filter housing.
Jan I am a recent (11/20) viewer. Old man here in awe of your skills, understandings, knowledge and abilities. I hope your Daddy praises you every day , several times for your value as a son, employee, accomplice and custodian of his enterprise. You are amazing!
Another great video. Thanks for sharing another part of your daily routines. I shared this chapter with my youngest granddaughter today. She's a city kid, but interested in what you are doing (as am I). I agree with Michael Smith's comments. It is very good that you and your sister are into farming, and especially dairy farming which is a 7 day a week job. Blessings to you, your family, and your crew. Stay safe, and stay strong from the retired pastor in Davenport, Iowa.
I've been doing it for over 20 years in Australia I found it interesting to see different set ups on the trucks in other countries. In Australia we have flow meters on our trucks with GPS locations for every farm that print out a qr sticker for that farms milk samples. We also have bigger trucks that hold 48 000 liters on two trailers and hose reels for winding in the milk hose
I've been a professional driver for 23 years, & have a fantastic safety record. I'd LOVE to find a career as the man that hauls the milk away from the farmers, here in Washington State. I did once find a place that was looking to hire, but I didn't, as of that time, meet their qualifications for years of experience to be considered for the job. Since then, I've moved a few hours away, & have no idea where to find such a career in the area I'm in now.
You are a consummate professional and your ending comment thanking the milk truckers and other people impressed me so much that I have subscribed for life to your excellent channel. It should be part of a school curriculum. Thank you.
Love your channel! So informative! Makes me want to start up our local milk delivery service again! There’s no comparison to fresh local dairy products! Watching from Puyallup, Washington 😊
Great awesome video, my uncle Hauled milk from farm to farm for 45 years all his life till he retired now he hauls water with his milk trucks now , his father did too and started the business. He picked up the milk at our farm for years
I have watched a couple of your videos now that I found you and I want to tell you what a great job you are doing of explaining processes and the reason for them. Thank you and I will now follow your broadcasts in the future.
I remember as a kid when our family was away for Xmas holidays on a guest farm riding on an ox wagon that took the farms milk in stainless steel urns to leave at the main road where it was collected. Big excitement for a youngster. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
SaskDutchKid.. Have been watching your video's and beside learning a lot... Very impressed wityhnyour commitment to the Farm & Family... Keep up the great work and videos
Hey DK, everyone plays a role to getting that milk to our table so a big Thank You. I see the milk truck has a very important role as well as to the quality of the milk, thanks for sharing that information with us. So whats next DK keep up the good work and see you in the next video🤔🐄😋
That was cool watching the milk get picked up . I’m waiting for a day when someone will show how the cream rises in the milk when it sits awhile . I love you channel !
Watching this while on my lunch break from the dairy farm i work at! Just popped up in my recommended and props to you! Great job! it's nice to see that we, the younger generation, continue to value and learn one of the most important and underrated jobs to date!
Another highly informative video, Jan. What i find amazing is how the 'ladies' know where and when to go with very little human guidance. Stay safe and thanx for sharing.
Great shout out to you young man for all your hard work, great detail information video Thank you for your contributions to the society your a great inspiration to consumers needs of your farm's milk, keep up the great work your doing young man!!!😊👌👍👍👍
Interesting how the milk collection is done in Canada. Haul milk for a living in New Zealand. Totally different to the way we do it. But regarding samples ...antibodies... and quality control and traceability all the same. Cool to watch. Thanks
Really knowledgeable video. Particularly appreciable is the contribution of the milk truckers in entire supply system. Keep it up bro. With love and best wishes from India.
You couldn’t have said it better about antibiotics. They are a tool. When used as a treatment they are fine. It is when they are used indiscriminately in humans or animals the problems arise. I don’t really like it being used prophylactic.
