I can't describe how much I have been enjoying these videos. I truly love the idea of having a larger engagement party and a more intimate ceremony!! Would you mind sharing how you went about inviting those who were invited to the party but not the ceremony? As in how did/would you word it on an invite or respond when/if someone has questions about why they were invited to only the engagement party?

So right about picking 3 things that are important! And in the spirit of women being transparent with finances, our 3 things were: * custom rings - we wanted to pick the metals and stones so they could be one of a kind - have had bad experiences in the past with shopping centre stores unfortunately - $5k * Photographer/videographer - $2600 included 10 hours, 2 staff, 1500 photos, 4 min highlight video, 30 min ceremony only video, speeches only video, and all raw photos and videos taken - and they provided champagne to drink during our couple photos, we did a champagne pop photo too, and they also gave us the photobooth for free which was there for 6 hours and guests could text the photos straight to their phones (and did boomerangs also). * Dress $909 - luv bridal dress was $2200, then it was last one in the store so was reduced to $1399, then I just happened to shop during Black Friday weekend (which I didn’t realise until we arrived) and it was down to $909. I ended up changing colours though so despite being in queensland I got a brand new dress, never been wore shipped to QLD all for $909. It came in all the original packaging and was such a steal! I highly recommend splurging on the things that will last a lifetime like the rings and photos and skip as much of the extra things as possible because it just isn’t important. I was like you and designed my menus myself and had them printed on card stock at officeworks for less than $10. Also I think guests will always remember the food and drink so don’t be cheap with either and make sure people are looked after and not left hungry. My bar was open, I didn’t want people restricted to just basic beer and wine, so our guests enjoyed quality over quantity and loved being able to drink whatever they wanted including champagne, spirits etc.

Thank you! I’m from Melbourne and I keep finding that my estimated costs for everything are SO off because I have no concept of how much things should cost. Things are definitely a little bit more expensive in Melbourne, but I’m so with you about the cost being personal and you shouldn’t feel shake for it (as long as you don’t go into debt).

Ella you are the best for posting this. I am planning my wedding now and it has been so stressful. Your spreadsheet is really clean and easy to follow. I think I will try to replicate it for my wedding. I also love your stance on amount to spend on the wedding. I am right there with you. It doesn’t matter how much somebody spends. As long as they are happy on that day. So glad your wedding was everything you wanted it to be!!!

the fact that 'I'm a wife' is basically part of your intro now truly makes my heart happy. also, even after 6 years, my partner and i have such separate social circles so there would be like 10 people present that aren't family if we played that 'if you haven't met rule' haha i mean, my pop lives 20 mins away and hasn't met him 😅😅

i'm so glad!! I feel like everyone does bridesmaids differently- we opted to pay for hair, makeup and earrings (the same cost as each suit) and then my bridesmaids paid for their dress but got to choose as long as they were all the same kinda colour xx

Thank you for this video. I think everyone wonders what a current cost of a wedding is. I am an aunt to a groom and bride his year. I figured weddings were around 30k USD. I offered my nephew and my niece ( marrying different people of course) a thousand dollars towards the wedding plus a cash wedding present. Or just everything in a from of a cash gift. My sil, mother of the bride, wanted a thousand towards the wedding and the rest as a wedding gift. My nephew said they will just prefer it all as a gift. I never thought to tell them what to do with the wedding contribution. I was going to just give the 1K to my sil to he,p pay expenses. Maybe it is different in the US. It neither my niece nor nephew is helping pay for the weddings. My niece’s parents and her fiancé father are hosting the wedding. And my nephew’s fiancé parents are hosting their wedding. My brother and sil who are the parents of the groom are paying for the grooms dinner, couples honeymoon suite and a few small things

Im a bride to be in 11 weeks and my fiance and I are paying for our whole wedding. Budget is 30k. We are older (im 31 and hes 37) but the cost is one reason we waited so long. I wanted to be done with grad school and save up enough to be paying for it.

Aiming for 30k for 125 people. It is probably going to be slightly more. Rings are more expensive than I thought. We havnt factored in rehearsal lunch or honeymoon (if we do a honeymoon right after). I think thats about it. So far these are my expenses. Venue 7k Coordinator 700$ Dress 1.5k (custom dress so no alterations needed). Photo/video 5.1k DJ 1.3k Rings: 700$ for mine, we will probably get a 100$ off etsy for my fiance Tables and chairs are included with venue Cake 300$ plus cupcakes estimating 300$ Catering estimating 5k Alcohol estimating 3k Flowers, I want artificial and I have a family member who is a florist. Want to stay under 1k. I just want bouquets, boutineers, and just a small amount of flowers for centerpiece. Stationary 259$ which was 125 invites (yes ordered more because I actually have 166 people invited and may add more depending on how many declined and I need stuff for photos, etc and you could only get 100 or 125, and 100 was cutting it close, so ordered 125. Suit Rental for fiance 250$ from generation tux Hair and makeup 500$ including trial. I didnt see how much my bridesmaid boxes were but they werent that expensive. Then I have ordered some things for gifts. Personalized starbucks cups, personalized hangers, I made a hangover bag (going to give all of this during bachelorette honestly so they can use things if they want like the cups, hangers, etc), pajamas just havn't figured out how yet because my sister is a size 0 and my MOH is like a 2x so its hard finding a listing wiht that wide range. And then some small things in between.
