Good luck on the BPV! I’ve been waiting since October for a Grimmspeed to come in stock.

I work at a Subaru dealership and those dimples in the front bumper next to the holes is where you drill the holes for the front plate. Just literally grab the screw you’re going to use, set it over that dimple and drill. They’re there for that reason but not many people know

I don’t think the new look is that bad. I wouldn’t remove the front plate and wouldn’t put back on the tint specifically if it does double that’s a lot of money that you can avoid.

When I got a state ref in Cali, I wasn't even given an option to pay it off. For repeat offense they can force you to appear in court and contest with no option of paying off.

Found this on a evo forum page “When getting reffed you can just pay the fine and be done with it. If you get reffed again for the same infractions the cop could (if he wants to be an @$$) have the car towed and impounded, on the 3rd ref ticket they will/can black ball your car or whatever term they use, meaning it will no longer be allowed to be registered anything other than non-op in the state of California (not legal for street use). At least thats what the judge told me :(“

I know it’s kinda unpopular but I just had my front play chillin on the passenger side of the dash on the windshield. No one ever gave me any crap about that when I lived in Cali.

Regarding the possible issue with registration... the 100% correct answer is it depends. When the officer cites you for the emissions violation, that does not flag your registration to require a ref inspection. However, the officers are supposed to send a notification to the Bureau of Automotive Repair that your vehicle has been reffed. The BAR places a flag on your registration. So if the officer forgets to send the notification, you will be fine. If he remembers, you're gonna have to go to the ref the next time smog is due. However, if you have been cited for 27156(b), haven't cleared it, and you are caught driving your car to anywhere other than your place of business, home, or a place of repair, you can be arrested, and your car can be towed.

I’ve been reffed once and I just paid it off without going to the state ref themselves. My fine was only $220 though. Didn’t have any issues with registration the following year either

Been Reff'd 6 times since ive had my 86 for 4 years. Paid them all off and had no mention of previous reff's when pulled over by other officers in and out of San Diego but all in CA. also had no issues renewing my Registration over these past few years. including this recently in February. I think "that" officer was just power tripping. I Really think he has just been targeting/intimidating you. Took care of my recent Reff as well but now squaring away my lady's Reff.

As far as I know, in CA just paying the ticket without getting it corrected is not enough, u also might have a bench warrant on your record,just letting you know from experience. Hopefully u can get away with it by not getting pulled over.

I had my frs for 4 years and never had a plate on, but had to pay 700+ for 2 exhaust tickets and my license got suspended because I never showed in court, the cops penmanship was so bad I didn’t know where to go, had to look for a local courthouse in Westminster

State ref and paying the "FINE" doesnt matter, you have to still have it checked by the ref because if the cops pull you over or the dmv anything itll show you didnt get it cleared ever you just paid the fine. My best opinion for you is hitting up a PLUG to sign it off for a fee that theyll charge you. That means they usually know a officer who will sign it off for you

Ok from my research I keep hearing you can pay it off & call it a day. But then I also hear that if you pay it off you might be burned out & if you get pulled over your subject to another state ref which is a higher fee the second time around. Now the question is if I got state reffed & I decide to pay it off & not go back to stock, will I still be able to register my car? & also what’s the best way to go about this if I cannot go back to stock since my engine is basically built? Just saw a post in the Orange County subaru group. It showed a bunch of officers training for state ref tickets. Sherrifs and city cops. And guess what car they were using... It had to be a Wrx..... I'm considering putting my stock exhaust back on because my other mods are worth much more than a loud car. Also recently heard about a guy with an sti that had stock exhaust and was pulled over for his exhaust being too loud... This is getting out of control. If people have a right to change their gender and smoke meth on the streets then we should have the right to modify our cars. I identify as a car enthusiast. How could that not be a reasonable argument to change all of this. If I'm forced to look at and hear a man dressed as a woman then people should be forced to accept our loud cars....

This is why I dont register my cars. Only insurance. I'm in massachusetts which isn't as bad as California. But still insanely high with taxes and stuff.

Bro you shoulda just used 1 bolt hole for the plate and then used double sided tape for the other side just to keep it in place. No drilling.

Love the new wheels, i never have front plates on my cars. They don’t look good, the tint on your windshield looks good but illegal and you will get pulled over, not worth it.

I was pulled over the other week for exhaust, tint, front plats. Cop didn’t care for tint or exhaust (thank god). Front plate is the dumbest thing ever, but luckily I got away with it somehow because he “lost” his ticket device while on his bike.

just got state reffed for my modified exhaust single exit motordyne xpipe for my Z. i was leaving school and the school cop pulls me over cuz i didn’t stop a stop sign all the way so i got a ticket for that first then the school cop says sum about my exhaust. my car isn’t even that loud so i asked bro what are the decibels and he didn’t even tell me how much it was

Next time you have to remove your tint take a black garbage bag cut it out in the shape of the window and spray soap and water on the window and put the bag on the inside of the window and let it sit in the sun for 15-20 mins then peel the tint off slowly

just use windex or bonami with a razor blade for the residue on the windshield

As long he didn’t check your engine bay or for exhaust you should be good

In idaho if you have a custom plate you don’t need a front one

It’s kind of BS that in a place like California front window tint is illegal because with the UV rays and the heat in the summer there I can see why you would want window tint all over your car to reduce the heat and the damage to your interior😂.
