Thank you so much for all your videos 🙏🏼 I am a mature student and I am following the AAT route as I did not go to university. Your content has helped me so much 🙏🏼
Very transparent and well-explained video. You radiate such positive, humble and genuine energy! Your character has inspired me just as much as the knowledge you have shared, thank you. 👍🏽
Thankyou so much for this video, finding info on the internet is a nightmare, some sites say £20k and others say 80k, makes sense that the longer you’re qualified the more you earn.
Assalam walaikum sir this is saquib I am an Accountant And degree is B com from india and want to work in UK , then what should I do to find the job there and also having experience professionally.
jazakallah khair. thank you so much! im 14 years old in year 9 london and im hoping to be an accountant inshallah if Allah chooses it. Your video was very helpful and surely made me make up my mind. I'm going to attempt to come back here when im a successful accountant and inshallah i get there. ❤❤
I'm a 59 year old ICAEW sole practitioner who spent the first 12 years of my career as an employee in a mixture of public practice, industry, and the public sector, before starting my own practice. Throughout that time I have laughed at the ridiculously exaggerated earnings figures for accountants that recruitment agencies and professional bodies routinely throw around. Fehzan's figures are, by contrast, completely correct by my estimation. The only thing I would add is that young people considering an accountancy career should not assume they will ever reach the higher levels of earnings, and be prepared to settle at a long term salary of around £50,000 after qualification, as that is what most qualified accountants earn.
Hi. I'm really confused with the weird numbers that ICAEW, PWC and other bodies show...I saw a median reporting of 134K pounds, so is that even possible in early stages (4-6 years), or, does it even reach till there for most people, or is it lower even in regions like London
@@bluelight628 doing the second half of my PhD remotely in COVID gave me a lot of time to reflect and realise I really wanted to work in finance/business, not scientific research. Love my role so far and get to see a new business every week!
Nah, gained so many skills from my PhD that have transferred over and I'm much more confident in my abilities and able to speak confidently to clients and managers/partners.
I started ICB Level 2 Bookkeeping, now doing Level 3 and thought I should do AAT L3 afterwards, because I'm really finding it hard to find a trainee/entry role but I didn't actually realise that I don't need bookkeeping first before studying to be an accountant, I wish the training providers gave more information and guidance on finding the best route! Thank you for sharing.
Salaam brother whats your opinion on using an audit graduate scheme at a top10 accounting firm as a way to get qualified (ACA) and then change direction ie via internal transfer or external move to a different arm in a firm such as consulting, do you think it can still follow a similar route to 6 figure salary within 10-12 years? Not that money is the end all but just as a guideline, as I think staying primarily in audit/accounting is not completely suited to my skillset
Hi! I am 33 and am I'm looking a career change into accounting and currently, I am doing the AAT levels. After I will finish studying the first two levels I am thinking to apply for my first role in an industry or in a practice. But my big concern is that I don't have any prior experience . I know that is recommended to do an apprenticeship or a traineeship if you are starting into finance, but … I don’t think I can afford getting paid with £12k - £13k a year having two kids and raising a family. I am not sure if I can wait a few years till I am getting paid enough to support my family. What would you suggest? How can I “avoid” doing the apprenticeships and getting a job in accountancy with no experience with at least 18 -£19k a year? Thanks!
I would look at an entry level temp role in accounts payable or receivable it’s a way of building some experience without sacrificing a decentish salary
I just got a job in a school as a finance assistant, I've not even finished my AAT the pay is £21,000-23,000 I found apprenticeships paying much more look on indeed
What about, someone who is a CA in his country. Has AAT in Nigeria, BSc Accounting, ACCA-Certifr and looking to study MSc Accounting and Finance in UK with about 7 years of experience in accounting as Head of Finance, Finance Manager, Finance Controller in Nigeria(excluding other junior level jobs) What's the prospective pay like and journey?
It’s difficult to say your experience will count for a lot but depends how relevant it is in the U.K. I would focus on completing the ACCA first if that’s not the case but if complete you could get a role as a Senior which is salary of around 50-55k
Salaam brotha, awesome advice, I have a few questions. Let's say it takes a GCSE student school leaver around 16 months to clock AAT Apprenticeship, some listings online state that they will accept AAT qualified accountants who are studying towards ACCA, etc, these listings pay 20k+ a year. Could it be viable to get to that pay within two years then? Salaam and may Allah bless you for the manner in which you state this info.
Wa alaykum as Salam yes is possible but then it depends on your apprenticeship and the specific experience you’ve gained. If you’ve got good experience then easier to get these higher paying roles.
I just finished my BA in Economics but have 0 experience in accounting. I want to wokr as an accountant but have zero experience to be fair. How should i proceed? Masters is very expensive in london . Cant really afford one. Thanks!
It’s difficult to answer that as it depends on you team, clients, service line, busy period, career ambitions, seniority etc. All I’d say is sometimes the work life balance isn’t there in the Big 4 especially at busy season however remember you are trying to build a career at the same time so don’t let that faze you! I’d say now that I work in industry I have excellent work life balance but that was achieved after years of grafting and building a career in practice!
So as a qualified accountant you can expect to earn around £50k but to get the higher salaries around £70-80k you do need to go for Manager roles. If you just stayed at a qualified accountant level then you will just typically receive an annual 2-5% pay rise.
Salaam brother. Ignoring all other factors such as experience or skills and what not, does an ACA have a better chance at getting the job than ACCA in the UK? Ignoring everything else?
Very different roles in terms of seniority - CFO is ultimately responsible for the entire Finance department, whereas Manager is a few levels below CFO and typically look after one area of finance.
Assalamu alaikum brother. I'm thinking of starting to work once my younger child starts going school full time. I am 25 years old. I have all my gcses and 2 AS levels. I didn't complete the whole A level. Only did half. Is it possible for me to get into apprenticeship when I'm like 27 years old? Would I be accepted or is that too old for an apprenticeship?
Wa alaykum as Salam age isn’t a barrier so don’t worry about your age. Only thing is you’d need a levels or btec to do a school leaver programme with a larger firm so you may want to do that. The other option is to find an apprenticeship offering the aat level 3 my only issue with those is that they don’t guarantee that you’ll continue your studies with them once you’ve completed level 3 and the pay is normally not worth it.
Aslkm brother i wish to relocate to UK. Im currently a commerce graduate in India and now am an accounting professional in Tanzania. Can I choose Aat course as a path?
Wa alaykum as Salam yes you can but if you have a degree check the U.K. equivalent of your Indian qualifications and see if you meet the entry requirements for a graduate scheme. This is obviously dependent on you having the right to work in the U.K. without restrictions.
Amazing video god bless u ma shallah u should came a teacher but i have question can u not apply to work in different countrie that give u alot money like dubi and how can u apply if u can
That's an interesting topic - I haven't worked abroad myself but been approached to work internationally. Short answer is yes you can work abroad once qualified as chartered accountancy qualifications are recognised internationally. The two main ways are to either go through a recruitment agency, more difficult to go direct I'd say, or either work for an international firm which has offices abroad and look to secure an internal transfer.
With no experience, I’d expect you to struggle to find a part qualified role even if you have done your acca exams. You could expect to earn around £18k in an entry level position.
hey Fehzan do you think I can get a 20k school leaver scheme with just GCSE's or do I need to finish my Access to HE level 3 in order to achieve that ?
How can a graduate be paid 26k a year when he/she graduated with a degree in a completely unrelated field, like Physics? Especially when they don't know anything about accounting?
You can enter the industry with any degree don’t need a related degree even then a degree doesn’t mean practical experience - real world is very different from theory
Definitely AAT is a good foundation qualification and in shaa allah will set you up to become a supervisor in many processing type roles ie accounts payable, receivables, credit control, and payroll. Salary wise can hit around the £30k mark but don’t stop there think of the AAT as a stepping stone to becoming a fully qualified accountant where your earning potential becomes much higher!
I’m doing my GCSEs right now and I’m thinking of being an accountant. Will I be able to become one with A level business or will I need to also accompany that with economics or maths?
Depends on the entry route for example as an apprenticeship you could be on a the equivalent of a few pounds per hour but if you join an entry level role say in AP or AR or as an Assistant Accountant you could expect a salary or around £18k with no experience
Thanks Jamie - just want to make you aware I do normally recommend people look at alternatives after A-levels/BTEC as this opens up more opportunities than if you were to start after GCSEs.
Thank you I have looked at the courses and decided to take alevels now do you recommend any alevels to help with accounting I'm currently looking taking maths ,physics and design and technology
Nope all I say is avoid general studies. You can study any subject and go on to become a chartered accountant. Do something you’ll get good grades in and enjoy is my advice.
Thanks that sounds very niche in the U.K. I’m not too sure what the requirements of an Islamic banker would be. You’d probably need to have a sharia compliant qualification. So I’d have to say just with the ACA probably not and would need to do further study.
Sir, Iam a CIMA and CMA INDIA qualified accountant with 3 yr+ post qualifiation experience. Iam planning to wrk abroad. How much can i expect to earn in london with my qualification and experience.
Hii brother, can we get jobs with M.Sc in Accounts without having any professional degree like ACCA Or something like that and what would be the pay on an avg if I could find job with my masters degree in Accounts. Thanks in Advance and your videos are so informative and this is not to flatter 😄
Yes ofc you can as a graduate in the UK, you should be able to get in with a Masters. You can see salary brackets in the video but around £28k to start is a reasonable expectation.
Hi Sir. I'm a new subscriber. I'm looking to study in the UK in the future because I want to gain permanent residency there. I am finishing up my bachelor's degree and I want to study masters in accounting in London. How much do you think I will earn as someone with no prior experience but with a masters degree? I am trying to see if I can try and start ACCA so I have a better opportunity to stay in the UK after. My salary has to meet a minimum wage. Please advise me. Thankyou
Firstly, make sure you get the right visa which allows you to work with no restrictions - if you study for a Master's after a Bachelor's you can apply for a grad scheme and expect to earn a starting salary of around £28k.
I’d say around 3-4k with an annual pay rise. It would take between 6-12 months to complete the certificate stage and after this I’d expect a 2-3k increase but with a pay rise of a few percent after a year total will be around 3-4k
I am studying for a B.SC in Accounting and Finance which I was told I will be exempted from some accounting exams, what would I do after getting my degree, do I join the ICAEW?
So you’d apply for a training contract as part of a graduate scheme with an employer. If you secure a role the employer will then register you with the ICAEW you can then apply for exemptions once registered. You can check on the ICAEW website which exams you’re exempted from it’s called credit for prior learning.
@@FehzanMehdi sorry to disturb but do you have an advice for how to answer at the embassy when they ask for my future goals if the training contract is for three years and the post study visa is for two years🙇🏾♀️
Bearing in mind I work in audit, I don’t find it boring - I like my job! This often comes down to perception your view will be different from mine and vice versa
Similar to the figures I mentioned newly qualified can expect around the £50k mark. Job availability depends on the market, I’d say many cima members are suited for industry positions. Rare to find lots of cima students in practice.
Thank you brother, this was a very useful video. I do have a few questions though. I have already applied to medicine and I was really thinking about accounting as a back up but as all my university choices was medical schools. So firstly I’d like to ask is if I should go to an accounting apprenticeship in my local area after a levels (20k per year) or should I take a gap year and reapply for university. Also brother another thing I would like to ask is if I complete the Acca inshallah (which is included in my apprenticeship) how likely would it be for me to find a good job are they competetive or are chartered accountants in demand thank you brother and I wish you the best.
Competition can be tough but I’d recommend you start applying from now to try and secure a place. I advocate for apprenticeships but apply to both uni and apprenticeships and see what offers you get first
Hello sir i have a few questions can you please help me!? • what's the scope of ACCA in UK? • what's a good income in UK to live a life comfortably (expected amount)? • what's the expected salary of an ACCA member who have an experience of 3-4year? • (a fear in mind) is it a good course to do 😶 what if i didn't get a job in a good accounting firm or in a big 4?
ACCA is quite popular in the UK - I did a recent video comparing membership numbers which you should check out. In terms of good income, that's subjective some people will survive on £30k per annum whereas for others £80k isn't enough. ACCA with 4 years' experience post qualified you could be looking at around 65-70k+
I am a air cargo proficinal accountant since 13 years and iam excepect an offer from a an international firm what should I have as a salary and benefits would u help me
I can’t really say with the limited information as I don’t know what your day to day is and whether it’s relevant to your next role - the figures in the video give you an indication
I’d look for a masters with data analytics and maybe the opportunity to gain some work experience although as it’s typically a year long doubt there’ll be significant work opportunities
Currently doing acca fundamentals completed 6 exams..I’m now based in the uk and have a right to work..can i find a job and how much can i expect to earn?
It depends more on your work experience if you’re looking for your first role in the U.K. it would be an entry level role pretty much so can expect to earn around 20-25k
That depends on experience, company, and route. For example if you do a MBA after years of experience and join a MBA specific programme you could reasonably expect to earn close to £100k. One of the benefits of a MBA is the network that you develop. If you join a normal graduate programme because you did a MBA straight after your degree then you can expect a salary of £28-30k. Your MBA wouldn’t necessarily mean a higher salary in all instances
No the MBA is a good qualification it's just that I believe it holds much more value with years of experience when compared to studying this straight after a bachelors degree.
@@foreveryour11 Well typically the same as without the qualification, the sort of salaries I mention in my video. The MBA would may be add a few k to your salary, however, if you're going to be a chartered accountant just because you did a MBA after your bachelors doesn't mean that will give you a higher salary than colleagues who are chartered accountants without a MBA. The MBA's real value is when you become quite senior say Manager in an organisation and then your firm may recommend this to you may even sponsor you and put you on an accelerated pathway to senior leadership!
Sir i Have a BBA degree in accounting Unfortunately i didn’t have relavent experience now i want to be a accountant how can i be a accountant in london?
Hello brother..I am from Nepal and I want to get a membership of ICAEW after graduating CA from Nepal..How much can I earn there ,? And what about visa?
If you’re talking about earning in the U.K. I’ve gone through the figures in the video already - the visa situation is where most people will have trouble definitely check that first before committing to trying to pursue a career abroad
@@FehzanMehdi @Fehzan Mehdi Thank you so much for replying.. After i take membership from Icaew , will it be difficult to get a job in UK for me?..If I get a job easily then I think the company will sponsor me with a work visa..Is it difficult?
assalamu alaikum brother I hope you're doing well brother I'm 45 years old now and I finish my AAT level 4 and get certificate with that. i am planning to continuing studies ACA. but all my family and friends they said your age is too high to do that. can you or anyone in your group give me a useful advise without any motivation or opinion that not connection to the real field work please.many thanks
Wa alaykum as salam - age is just a number deffo recommend you go for the ACA - it increases career opportunities and earning potential, well respected qualification and you've proven you can study already by completing the AAT!
Hi. Nice informative video. I have to ask you if I have done masters n graduation in Commerce from India but had been suggested to do AAT once I moved to London . I am currently doing AAT level 3 but I am unable to land a role as trainee account assistant anywhere whatsoever . Do u have any suggestions for starter jobs in London or what exactly should I do ?
You should firstly check your qualifications and the equivalent in the U.K. because if they are the equivalent of a levels and gcses atleast then you can apply for school leaver programmes as well.
hello, i am in year 11 at the moment and I want to become a chartered accountant I have been told that I should go to the AAT route. They advised me to go to the aat and then do the 2 years and then I should go to the aca/acca is that possible. Meaning I don't need a levels or is the aat enough to get into the aca Thank you
@@FehzanMehdi that’s what I’m doing. There are some great companies which offer the AAT and then the ACA. I’ve done A levels first mainly due to the reason Fehzan suggested but also because I didn’t want to become AAT qualified and then no companies offer to train me for the ACA. Better to do it in one step I reckon with a company that guarantees you both things.
@@FehzanMehdi which one do you recommend for someone who is not from uk and sir in uk ACA and ACCA paid equally or ACA get paid more for the same type of role?
The pay shouldn’t be too different as both qualifications make you a chartered accountant the only thing I say is if you want to work abroad ACCA is recognised more internationally
Asalamu alaykum brother I am 16 years old and do not have any gcse qualification, and I want to become a accountant but I don't know where to start. I will be happy if you can give me some information where to start. Jizaka allahu khayr brother
Please guide I'm in 12th right now I'm thinking to set up my carrier as a qualified accountant but from which degree should I start please tell its a request
So in the U.K. you don’t need to have a degree in a specific subject to become an accountant. However in other countries the requirements may be different so can’t advise on that unfortunately.
