I would love it if y’all tested the flashlights on one or two of the newer smartphones as a reference point. Seeing as almost everyone has that flashlight in their pocket and uses it daily, it would help put into context just how powerful or shitty some of these flashlights are. 😂

Thanks for doing the OLight. Thats the one I have. The magnet mount is a little too weak, but its great when working on cars and it stays in place. One of my more favorite features is that the belt/pocket clip doubles as a hat clip so you can have a headlight if you are wearing a hat!

Great to see the olight included. I rank it as one of the best purchases I've made under $100. You don't need to cycle into high before going into turbo. Just double tap the power button and you're in turbo from any setting, including off. Triple tap for strobe. Long depress for "moonlight" which is honestly the most useful one when even my phone light would disturb someone and I still need to see something.

Amazing job! The flat discharge curve of the Olight shows the flashlight has a DC-DC circuit to ensure consistent light output as the battery voltage drops. The others clearly follow the voltage profile of the battery chemistry, which means inconsistent light output.

I love seeing how these lights actually do. My wife got me that first one branded as wow lite and it’s decent but I usually grab one that fits in my pocket better or a full size light. I’ve also had a couple different astro knock offs. I like them except the tightening collars crack pretty easy. The coast hp3 pen light and the 590 lumen red 4 aaa light work excellent but eat batteries. The harbor freight braun light and quantum rechargeable pen light are probably my favorite and very reasonably priced. I threw out my streamlight stylus because I got tired of the button wearing out every couple weeks

Im a welding inspector and have the olight warrior mini. 1500 on turbo is so bright it is hardly ever necessary, even in the outdoors. The 1 and 15 lumen mode is great for close up technical work and the other modes are perfect for everything else. Best feature is the memory so it stays on the mode used last. I use this light every day and go 3 months before having to charge it. By far the best piece of equipment I have bought to date. 10/10 rating.

@@mattburrows2615 A flashlight just doesn't look right until the finish on all the edges is worn off!

@@fredygump5578 for sure! Made it sound like a bad thing but the dents and scratches certainly tell a story of what it's been through lol. 👍

As an everyday, many-times-a-day (engineer working in facilities) user, I adore my pd36r. My only issue is the USB cover. It swells with exposure to oils and falls off after 6mo or so invariably.

Great job. I am a fan of (Coast) lights I have a few would love to see if the lumen output is as advertised. They are a lit pricey 👍

If Eric O can't break the Astro light I'm pretty sure it's indestructible alien hardware.

My primary lights are Streamlight Pro-Tac 1L and 2L. At 275 and 350 rated lumen respectively, they are plenty bright for my use. Both use CR-123 but using Tenergy L-Ion rechargeables I haven't purchased a battery in over 5 years. Yes, I know the trend is for USB charging but I prefer to reach into my bag and swap cells rather than losing access to the light while it is tethered to a charger. I also have a couple of cheap 'AAA' COB lights that work well when I need to stuff a light into a small space or 'loan' someone a light. They only do a couple hundred lumens but at less than $10 I don't care if they get destroyed or not returned.

Great video. I would love to see how old school maglights compare.

I'd love to see some Nebo models get the test. I've always found them to be a happy medium between cheap Amazon crap and higher end brands that offer more than I need. Thinking redline flex, slyde 2k, swyvel, torchy would all be good. Would love to know if they are as accurate with their lumens as Olight or Fenix.
