I loved using our old 7.3 service truck with the 6 speed to pull. She had a few bolt on upgrades, she took a a sec to get to speed but once she got there she held it. I’ve run a ton of gassers and they go through the muck better to get to buried and broken stuff since they’re lighter but don’t go down the pavement worth a damn pulling anything more then 15k
Yeah gassers are always in the high rpm range and we all know that long term those engines aren't going to last as long as a diesel especially towing in the mountains
My load I delivered this morning was 24' long, 750 Lbs. 10 pcs. of Z-bar left off a shipment. I couldn't even see it in my mirrors! I averaged 10.18 MPG. Your mileage will likely be a tad bit lower... Give Jax a big hug for me!
Hope jax is doing good! I'll say a prayer for him. Awesome to see this old girl still putting in work. I have an 03, 300k on it almost. I did bellowed up pipes, a 66mm turbo, and custom hydra tunes on factory sticks, and get 30 psi. I feel you may have some exhaust leaks costing you boost. Anyway, cool video, impressive what these old rigs can do, and still be more reliable than a new one.
I upgraded to drilled and slotted rotors that helps some and down shifting my trailer brakes help but aren't good enough to stop it alone. The 35' trailer I had would stop the truck and trailer loaded
I installed the RiffRaff FRX fuel line crossover kit and the high pressure oil crossover line and my 2001 7.3 sounds like a completely different motor. It honestly surprised me how much of a difference it made.
So I have contemplated and talked to people at Ford they said don't do it there is a reason why Ford didn't do it to begin with. I feel like these manufacturers just come up with ways for selling items to owners thinking about making a buck. Maybe I'm wrong but I have a lot of friends who run 7.3's and none of them are using the crossovers.
@@scottbaker4314 Ford didn't do it because it would of cost them millions of dollars to add those simple features on thousands of motors. Anytime you " deadhead" a motor is a bad idea and design flaw. Forcing air through the injector causes injector cackling and eventually failure. The high pressure oil line, simply equals out the oil pressure on each head making the motor run smoother. Mine has been purring like a kitten every since the mods where installed, no issues and it has close to 200k miles on it.
@@hondaxl250k0 It went from about 13.2 miles per gallon to 15.4. The throttle response is definitely better, starts quicker and doesn't seem to use any oil between services
@@chuckparson6712 interesting. Oddly my biggest gains in running / how smooth. Is using that hotshot anti sticking stuff. Omg my truck runs better than ever. Injectors are not as loud. Starts easy. Smokes less when warming up. I was impressed..
My dog went blind it was called sards he lived 5 years blind was around 12 when he died didn't seem to bother him at all other than wanted to constantly be with me he ran into stuff a lot at first
Yeah that's what Jax has I have had to OHio State they have the best veterinary ophthalmologist in the country and they said there wasn't anything they could do when he was 5. They said he would be completely blind in 6 months, well we prayed and still do everyday for him, his vision lasted for another 1.5 years
Appreciated most of what you said except the part about family helping you break the law and get away with it. You could have kept that part to yourself.
Your truck has really low EGT’s for hauling something that heavy, but your boost seems low to me. I put a billet compressor wheel and new wastegate controller on mine and it makes 35psi instantly. But my EGT’s are way higher than yours.
My e99 7.3 towing about 9k lbs puked transmission fluid out of the bell housing. Let it cool then poured about 5 qts of fluid in and its been good so far. Definitely need a transmission cooler upgrade.
@@scottbaker4314 absolutely. Fellow hotshotters give me hell for spending so much money but I don't care what it costs. I want the best and do not mind paying for it.
your hot shooting, how in the hell you don't have a red flag, you have to have that for inspection, this why we as hot shoters get a bad rep because of want a be hot shoters like this
I started hauling this way, way before it ever was called hotshot so continue to be a government obedient client. They already have taken most of our freedom. I feel like HotShot Outlaw was and will continue to be what I do. I pay my taxes, insurance, load insurance truck taxes and tags toll booths etc. Everything we do gets taxed to no end so I play their silly little games to a point but when it comes to putting money in the bank and food on the table then there's nothing going to stand in my way. Thanks for watching
What year is it? Does it have the factory exhaust on it? My grandpa always told me it's hard to run when you're constipated 🤣! Cut that muffler, cat, silencer out from under it and open the air box up first those are two main reasons for sluggish stock older engines gas or diesel
@@ltd7998technically stiction only occurs in the spool valve of 6.0 injectors but I have heard a few people swear by it in a 7.3 so I wouldn't say don't use it but don't put too much faith in it
@calebz1448 I've seen and fixed plenty of 7.3s that had stiction going on. Nearly 6-7 out of 10 injectors fail on a 7.3 due to stiction and oddly enough they can usually be easily saved with something like hotshots and sometimes shimming the solenoids
1st thing get ALL the gear you need TO do hot-shot hauling 2nd - DON'T haul ANYTHING that over-hangs the trailer ESPECIALLY up front like that 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ Your funny "keep yourself family & yourself safe" but your out there doing risky stuff getting shut-down and STILL not changing your operating ways'. At least you have the RIGHT name for your game.
What's the gvwr on that trailer? Derated? Axle ratings? Is there a limit to how much you can derated? Or in other words, how large can the difference be between gvwr and manufacturer capacity?
