Q: I design with Squarespace! When I find my first client should I have them create their own Squarespace account & add me as a contributor? Or should I create it on my own account and let them review it for revisions using a password-protected page? If I should use my own how would I handoff the completed site? Thank you...
Hey there! Fab question! In a nutshell, you really don't want to go giving full access to the website until their project is paid in full! So in *most* cases, it makes sense to create it on your own account, and have the client put in their credit card deets when it's time to upgrade to a paid subscription, then go into your site permissions settings to transfer ownership when the design is complete!
I am glad I stumbled on your page and RU-vid channel. I would love to start my own Website Design business. I am a bit scared, and I am still learning Squarespace. I have been in the IT industry for a while. I've learned Elementor (WordPress Page Builder) inside out (so I have the experience and skills). I guess what is stopping me is setting up a workflow and a scalable system. I need to go back and understand the WHY and how to execute it the correct way. Did you go to school for Website design, or are you a graphic designer? I don't have any degrees in this field, and does it matter? Thanks!
Aww so very stoked to have you join me! And that's awesome that you have the background in Elementor! Learning Squarespace should be a breeze for you! Oh and fun fact, I went to school for a completely unrelated thing! (Just so happened to fall in love with Squarespace/design when I decided to start my own little travel blog!) So I'm living proof (and so are my past Square Secrets™️ and Square Square Secrets Business™️ students) that you absolutely do not need any fancy tech/design degree to become a crazy-successful designer! Just the willingness to put in the work! (Which it sounds like you have!!) So excited for you, girl!!
