Sounds better than 2.50 a mile .you made profit. You Driving a Bad Boy Pete .Long as when you put your boots on in morning thats all you worried about. You never work a day in your Life. Keep lovein Family and like you do.You Keep On Trucking. And you look good doing it toooo.
That’s great and all but was was bring home after all expenses like truck and trailer payment, truck and trailer insurance, maintenance, food, showers and taxes. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. I bet you were around 100k bring home.
_Brother, can you give me a detailed list of what you had to go through to get where you are right now as an owner Operater independent driver. Including LLC, Just a heads up for myself I have bad credit I just need to know how would that affect me_
Nothing wrong with $3.00 a mile my friend. Especially adding in the early days of power only. As you know, some don't even break even after their first year. You did alright.
Hey bro! Congrats!! Being profitable , learning AND having that family /work balance is motivating to us looking to get started!!! Keep on truckin! Good vibes
Bob sounds like a smart guy cleaning the trailer is part of the job. I am a company driver and most drivers ( steering wheel holders ) don’t clean them. But I know you will get it done
Like your videos …you said about $23,000. After fuel what about insurance, truck payment,Trailer pymt ,maintenance and money spent on food on the road what to you think you would be at then ?
In the aviation biz they have this thing called QOL...Quality of Life. It's a big huge factor when, as a pilot or flight attendant, you must decide fi you will take the job and move to Charlotte or Cincy or Orlando etc.... I would say, Sir NIck, that YOUR QOL is quite good for the money you made. So you have to factor in those intangibles in order to measure success. Comprende?
That first year also reflects new authority vs lack of brokers willing to do business with you, that's out of the way. It also reflects all the Covid bs, most of that's out of the way too. Hell yeah bro good job, thanks for bringing us along! Check it out.. I just took my drive test for the SPE on my med card to get back in the truck after a spinal cord injury (we talked about it on one of your live's) and I fkn killed it with leg braces! Apparantly truckin really is like riding a bike. Waiting on the feds to send me my certificate now. I also found a job hauling grain with a hopper bottom in Illinois. Onward and upward, my man.
Aaaaaaaa , long time no hear how’s things at the office on 18 wheels ? Any way I just got out of trucking California and Arizona , I’m doing my own thing now at home welding , wood work and some composition materials experimenting , but I’ll tell you this , when I’m not in the shop and alone in my room I miss trucking so much and these videos bring me back to my old livelihood and now it all comes back to me thank you kindly Aaaaaaaaaaaa ;)

@@pacman4937 lol that's what every drivers says.. to make 100k before taxes, in reality took home less than 75k.. and had to be a slave... i pocketed 130k, had 15 weeks off.. worked 4 days a week and send the irs a check yesterday for 3k 😂😂😂😂.. so no, it's not the same shit
@@TheDriller100 let me know what you say when this year is over. And I’ll stand by my statement. I own several businesses, including outside of trucking. I would never start a business to make what an employee could make.
Hey Nick I just watched a program called John Oliver. It’s a comedy program but has a serious note to it. This week it was about the shortcomings of the trucking industry in the US. You should see it. It is HBO but I don’t have that but I saw it on RU-vid. It first aired last sunday
It's called Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He made his name with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. Great blend of comedy with unbiased facts and well done research. John Oliver is great!
Aaaaaaayyyyyyyy velox!!!! Im in lay-throwup!!!! Still waiting on a load to San Bernardino area!!!! Love your videos love you!!! You rock!!!!! Where in da world is dooner livingstone!!?!?!?!?! I'm board someone come piss me off!!! Im parked bobtail.!!!
Good job man! Nice first year numbers for guys like us with 1 truck and getting home/family time. What year is your trailer? I just picked up a 2023 like it
almost every load you put on your trailer if your hauling brokered freight or even direct for a mid to large volume shipper that use rfp and waterfall tier based pricing is becuase "YOU" were the cheapest truck that was avaliable at the time ...
Always look forward to the intro Nick and you didn't disappoint😃 Way to gooooooo Lucy!!!!!!!!! Very funny watching you watching the guy in your dock but not wanting him to spring you looking - cab light on makes it a challenge lol!! Can't run a successful business without the figures, and knowing the 'break even' point is essential, good job you.
Thanks for showing your numbers. I don’t know any owner ops personally so I can’t compare or talk business with anyone. Thank you RU-vid guys for the reference point. We are doing about the same. I did a little more than you for the year and you did a little more than me this first quarter, Few thousand. I’m power only. I had a reefer leased last year till August.
First, I would like to say this was a great video. I actually have a question for you. I am currently working on my CDL license, and I'm looking to start my career in trucking. Do you think it is unrealistic to believe I can work as a company driver for a year or two and become an owner-operator and be successful/profitable?
*I want to get my own truck.. looking for a sleeper not a day cab.. since i want to go far out.. does anyone have any info on where to get cheap but good semi?*
Good video Nick! Now you have one year down. Now the second year should be better because you learn from the rookie mistakes that you made. Guess time will tell...LATER brother...PEACE...
Your doing good your hustling loads your not doing bad at all let's say this your doing better than the average owner operator is right not an I take it your making your truck and trailer payments on time an if your using a credit card for fuel your staying ahead of the that so your doing very well. Happy for you
I don't think so. We are super busy this year with trying to buy a house, a kid graduating high school, and 2 girls in softball. My wife already told me may looks like the busiest month of our lives, lol. Figured I wouldn't try to squeeze a truck showing the middle of all that.
@@Velox18 yeah much more important things to do that will benefit you and the family, just know I’ll still be on a look out for you and good old El hueso around Manteca 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Solid first year man! Just curious, are you liking reefer, do you plan on sticking with it? Also are you happy with having your own authority or are you considering leasing on to someone like you had talked about before?
@@Velox18 lease? You ready to hand over 20% of every load? Why not have people lease on to you and they pay you 20% of their loads. You’re a carrier, you established something can’t go backwards like truckers coach.
You could lease on some owner ops to your own authority and charge them 10% just for using it. And let them get there own loads and take care of there own equipment
The Government knows the longer a driver sits at a dock the worse safety is. When they take 10 hrs to do their job, that makes it unsafe for the driver all away around.
I think it's definitely more difficult now than it was last year. The price of equipment and the price of fuel being so high I wouldn't recommend anyone jumping in right now.
Truck and trailer looking good Nick , Congratulations to you on your 1st year 😁😎 For sure I think the pitcher deliberately done that to her I hope not Good luck to her ❤ For sure numbers don't lie , You do real good with no break Downs , a lot of times what I do , I go off my speedometer miles and then my net bucks I divide it into all the miles that I run in a year , am I happy with it , With no breakdowns for sure I am 😁😎 Keep up the good work my friend , Don't let the tax man get on you 😂😁 be safe take care yourselves NICK
Well considering the low number of miles I drove you'd like to see that rate per mile a little higher. Plus, it was "the good times" most of that year so I should have been banking for the slow times a little more than I did. Also, with the price of equipment and fuel I wouldn't be surprised if the new "normal" is a little higher than the old normal.
lol clown ... your not even breaking even at a $1.40 on paid of equipment between fuel and a reasonable driver pay WITH benfits & retirement will eat all of that 1.40 up and more ... let alone tag / insurance / maintenance and repair on a paid of equipment
Yet another way to screw drivers over. Yet another reason the Government needs to mandate detention time from minute number one. These places will change their way of doing a lot of things. If not, the drivers will be getting paid for their time anyway. Their really isn't any reason why places can't do like Costco does.
