My late husband was a time served goldsmith before he went back to school to get an electronics and engineering degree in his thirties. He made my engagement and wedding rings and he always said that silver was very hard to work with as it's so pliable so be warned. Bless you, I was widowed when I was 42 and I would have given all the insurance money away and lived in a shed to have him back. Ohhhhhh typical for Scotland and villages as we are all nosey and when winter hits it pays them know your neighbours. 😂 It's common to go for quick introductions and then return with gifts. Usually a house plant, booze and biscuits. Flowers and cakes are the next visit. Always rock up with flowers or wine or something hand made and you are the favourite adopted family and will be well fed and taken care of. Get some bubble wrap layers stuck on those windows before the damp gets round. Insulation is going to be essential!! You are in for a shock when the wind hits in Feb. Rugs, rugs, rugs and more rugs!! Double thick curtains on doors and windows and rugs. 😂 I'm actually scared for you lol! I'm from Aberdeenshire and lived in an ancient cottage up a hill. Was sleeping bag and two duvets on the bed. Lol!

Well young Jude that was a wee bit emotional. Yes you did face all your rainy days at once but you are doing what feels right for you now. Thanks for letting us get to know you better. I’ve never considered a pickup truck a fancy purchase for country living especially a used one. Lumber, firewood , bales of hay, all cost more for delivery if you can even get them to deliver. It’s a practical purchase.

Great video Jude. A tip for the single paned velux window, put some bubble wrap on it in the winter as that will help keep some heat in. I figure you will be planting more bulbs in the future so here's a little tip that was passed to me from my mom - plant the bulbs in 3s or 5s and you will get a better display. You have led an interesting life thus far with yarn dying etc.

Hi If you use your mower, on a higher setting, to run over the leaves it will chop them up and gathers them in the collection bag, which in turn helps them to break down faster. The whole process should be easier and quicker 😊

He uses professional help to renovate his property but also gives information on some of his videos regarding utube monetisation. This may help you, although I do congratulate you on your speed at acquiring followers. Oddly enough, I’m now in Fife having spent 22 years in the highlands, although not in such a rural area. Jude, you should leave the leaves! They are essential for the health of your lawn and beneficial to all the insects. They will disappear, as the humble earthworms pull the leaves down under the surface. My lawn in Scotland is very green and lush in Summer, whereas my neighbour’s (who uses a leaf blower) has a brown lawn. You’re just giving yourself unnecessary work.

It was lovely to see your parents in the footage. I reckon you got a bargain there, the fixes will happen slow but sure. I agree with someone else's suggestion of bubble wrap on windows, my student days in UK were all about window insulation and closing the gaps under doors etc makes all the difference! Im so excited to see the bulbs and the clover come up! I also love the idea of sowing chamomile as a ground cover, if thats a thing you might like?
