🚐 - HOW MUCH did it COST to DRIVE 3000 miles around SCOTLAND in a Mercedes T1 Luton?

That's good going Max. Sorry mate but been very busy with life to get much time to keep up with videos. I did 4-5 months there for £1500. We back up Scotland in September for a month and a bit. Keep Loving the Adventure Mate. Safe Travels 🙏

Not bad at all, a shade better MPG than we get I reckon. Think how much you'd pay in rent to sit looking at the same four walls for that time too - bargain I say matey. Love the upgraded view in the van too 🙂 Great stuff.

Looks good mate it makes loads of difference the windows my sprinter feels like a dark cave compared to the horse box glad the curtains came to some use ✌🏼

900 isn't too bad for 3 months , tenner a day to take your home with you , and a comfy home it is . That new window should give cross ventilation too . I'm watching a retired couple in USA buiilding a camper in a luton box truck , live simple live free

That's not bad, mine would have been £1325 / 850L according to my data from the last 4828km (over 2 years) 814 Turbo - 4L - 7.5Ton near max or towing Jimny

£1021.50 3000 miles divide and average of 20mpg times 4.54 times £1.5 per litre So I guess £1000 with some idle

I’d suspect you could very easily fit a turbo and get better mpgs 🤔

I could. But… one it’s one more thing to go wrong, and I’ve seen ads on turbos die and kill these engines. Two they weren’t designed for it so it puts them under more stress meaning they are less reliable and more likely to have a problem. Because these are 1 million mile engines as standard N/A and I’d rather reliability over speed and mpg. And three it’s a lot of work for something that doesn’t bother me, apart from a few quid I’ll save there’s not much point.

@@RustyRoseAdventures that’s true, there’s a lot to be said for keeping things simple. I’ve just checked on one of our 2016 transit tippers and it’s getting 25mpgs from a 2.0 turbo diesel euro 6 unloaded, I recon your doing well with yours fuel wise in comparison 👍

Are they expensive in parts eince you don't seen many about?

No it’s not too bad, some things like leaf springs etc can be expensive but most parts you can get off eBay febi branded for a fairly reasonable price. The reason for that is they all rusted then got shipped to Africa and other continents where they are stripped for parts or run into the ground, because they are such work horses 👍

Yes however it is more expensive and finding it used is a big process when you’re on the road 24/7. Can be done but I’ll do. It when I have a base somewhere

You have no idea how much I want to rip out that 602 and strap a turbo to it. It'd be SO much more efficient...

@@RustyRoseAdventures the 602 was available as a factory turbo, Al down at 6d Diesels has done some stuff about converting NASP to TD as they're really not that different. The pump elements are the same, it's just the fuel plate for the pump. It's such an indestructible engine that turbo versions aren't any less reliable (obviously assuming you look after the thing...) We have a 310 flatbed that has 560k on it, and we turbo'd the 602 and I fully intend getting that fucker to 1 million :)

@@RustyRoseAdventures it was in a bench run video. The turbo 2.9s were mainly used in Ssangyongs but the 312/412 did get them too (not crazy power, but a huge gob more torque) - he mentioned that they just slap the turbo on and off they go, which is basically what we did.
