Awesome video!!! My husband passed away in 2017 and our boat (pontoon) was our second home. We were on Lake Mead every weekend, rain, shine or snow!! Didn’t matter. We fished and camped on the water from Friday night to Sunday evening. We had our kids and their families, dogs or just us. My son has the boat now and is rebuilding it. I shared your video with him because he has a shop and has rebuilt an old Chevy blazer and it’s beautiful and will climb up the mountains with ease. He’s started on the boat! I’m in a wheelchair and I plan on being on the lake again! I miss it! Him and his wife remind me of us back in our mid 40’s, and she is on the boat if it just goes to get gas! She loves to fish !! Our pontoon boat is 24’ long and a blast.. again, thank you for this video!!
So yeah, what they said.😊 Seriously, you did a top notch job on this boat. What impresses me more is your attitude, the way you is how you follow through on everything. Especially selling all that stuff that came off the boat, and the trailer and whatnot. I saw a number of people that were saying you sold it too cheap, you must value your labor more. I thought pontoons were way cheaper than they are. I bought a mint 24' with trailer from Missouri or somewhere. It was $12,000. Then I realized that was 20 years ago. Ouch. You are only 22, and already have a GC License, so you have plenty of wriggle room. You are super on the right track. In 3 years, Your channel, if you keep it/them, will be managed by your secretary, who handles the phones, you are bidding jobs, buying material, checking in on your crew(s). You are going to be one of the winners. Watching your process from buying to selling, I know you will be a millionaire by 30, if you want to. S.C.O.R.E. - Service Corps Of Retired Executives is a great resource, chapters all around. Don't be afraid to switch around, they really get it about things needing to click for both parties. It takes a good 5 years to have things under control, not scrambling to make payroll because you are waiting on a $15,000.00 check that is 45 days past due, and paying yourself what you would accept from another GC trying to hire you. If you have to loan money to the business, that's ok too. The IRS says you need to take a "reasonable" salary. Owners mostly don't want to take a salary, because of the taxes you pay. But, it does include Social Security, regardless of what people say, you will get it. Also, you need to have I think, 3 years, of BIG paychecks, but they use your 3? top income years to calculate the check you will get forever once you retire. benefit. It cannot be obvious, so ramp up and down. It may very well happen anyways. You will always be the last guy to get paid, so getting your pay cut money is fine, and if god forbid, you are the one who falls off a roof, you want all the disability help you can get. You also, and this is just critical, you need to ask: who are you, and what do you want? Dead serious, does business course through your brain? Are you a total hands on guy, not looking to get real big, please keep me out of the office. How long do I want to do this? I HATED Tree Trimming with a passion. We started by putting out flyers, yellow page ads, ask a parent what they were. And we got what we were asking for: people who call from flyers, yellow pages, names on all our trucks. I would go estimate, and you MUST talk to contractors about properly written contracts, and buy yourself a FLIR infra red hand held scanner, shows hot as yellow, red, cool, cold as Green to Blue. Final thing, I promise. Really avoid partnerships unless goals: I want as much as I can take out each week. Well I want to leave more money in the bank for a cash flow insurance. I want to expand. I want it like it is. We were lucky because my brother would go and do whatever I needed him for. He was Ops, I was office. We saved almost every penny, kept buying rental units. Our retirement would be quadrupled by taking all our profits, planting them, and that is far bigger than what we could ever live off from the Tree work. Good Luck, which is another form of making your life into what you want.
That’s one of the things I wish we could see some viewer info. I wonder how many people in desert, arctic, and land locked areas watching this for the entertainment.
This was a great build. You mentioned that you wanted to make a party boat so I have an idea for you on the next pontoon build. Start with the base pontoon boat and instead of the railings ( as they are now ), install 4 foot walls that fold down (like an outrigger) once you get to your party location. This would add 8 feet to the width of the party boat. Obviously you would want to add pontoons to the floors that fold out. You could also add 4 feet the front in the same manner, but it would also have two floor fold outs so there are no holes from the front to the sides. The front would fold out forward first, and then the two sides would then fold out to join all the extra flooring that is already there. This would give you an extra 4 feet all the way around. Anyway, it's just a thought and if you happen to like the idea and you do end up building it, I would love to come out and see it.
Sir, absolutely brilliant idea. I've been trying to build my own party pontoon but found that 8 ft wide (which is the widest it is allowed to be street legal) was just too narrow and flipping was a major hazard. The additional foldable pontoons would add so much space and stability. Wow
@@Jeff-gt2xu I think I'm gonna put the additional outriggers on hinges and have them swing all the way flat on the inside rather than have them act as foldable walls. I'll link it here if/when it's completed. Right now it's a pretty trashy and rickety little vessel. It doesn't even have a motor
I'll go down to Fl and buy this boat for 20k and bring it up to you to sell for 50k. You can keep 10k and I'll take 40k? You down? You will have to put 10k in Escrow just in case you can't sell it for 50k like agreed upon, I'll get the 10k in Escrow so at least I'm not wasting my time.
Time is money. He put a lot of time into thay boat. U have to take that into consideration. U will never get all of your money back. Its for keeping not for selling
I found your channel because of the pontoon build, and I've enjoyed your other content as well. You do a very nice job balancing being entertaining and informative, and your builds look great. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing this video!!! I was an avid boater my whole life and went too many years without a boat. I will soon be in the market for a boat again as my life continues to get better. I use to be anti pontoon boat up until recently. And now seeing this video I love the ideas of customization. You should be proud of what you accomplished here. I am proud for you man. Keep up the good work. Hopefully we cross paths sometime and can share ideas.
Here in Seattle area new pontoons Start at $1,000 per foot. Then add accessories and a little bling and you're easily $30-$50k. Used ones usually don't last more than a week in the classifieds. We have a 26 Kayot and added 2 front fishing seats, 2 rear seats, and an enclosed porta potty in the rear corner behind the driving console. It has foldout beds,a collapsible hardtop, and we replaced the 45 with a 75 and a 20 kicker and a remote controlled retractable electric trolling motor up front. And the Way Koolest trailer, back it on the lawn, crank winch#2 and the entire trailer squats down and gently sets the boat on the lawn and pulls out from under it. Don't sell what you built, it's incredibly universal.👍👍
At 14:31, I see starboard running light installed but suggest you check requirements for visibility 120 degrees aft to starboard,, zero degrees forward to port. Same for port (red) running light on the other side.
Love it. It came up so well you should be proud of yourself. You couldn’t buy one of that quality for $17k !! Absolutely loving your channel keep up the excellent work!!
Great job on the rebuild!! We own a 2017 Aqua Patio 259 CBD Tri-Toon that we paid a LOT more than 17K for: I think we would enjoy your boat as much as ours! The only thing we'd probably miss is the ability to tow water skiers. FYI: if you mount a Blackstone griddle in conjunction with your existing BBQ, you will have an awesome floating pub! Also, we bought a portable 12 Volt Dometic compressor refrigerated cooler. Much better than having to deal with a cooler that needs ice.
Boy O Boy… you did a ONE Hell OF GOOD JOB on this pontoon boat👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I have a 23’ LOWE pontoon boat with 115hp Evinrude motor. I will rewire my console my self next time, due to salt water, wires don’t last to long, it cost me $2000.00 to rewire the boat. Thank you for this video,it gave me Confidence to do it yourself.👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕💕💕🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍺🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍👍👍
I was blown away by the outcome and super I impressed at how well it came up on plane for a pontoon boat. I'm not really a boat guy, u less I'm in the keys scuba diving! I'm more of a Big RV guy and will definitely be using some of the things you used in that. Loved the bar top pilots table with your Logo burnt into it. And the leds & cup holder everywhere.
First of all its a boat. My wife and I call all the boats we had as the family black hole for money. We are on our 6th boat . Not a boat at 50+ foot . The larger the boat the more money, but damn we love it so . Can't see us without one . Love the vid !
Thanks to your video series I am starting my own "pontoon" build. Very inspirational! Mine is going to be built on a 30 foot house boat catamaran hull. Will use a lot of your great ideas and sponsors. Keep up with the dream and the channel!
I love pontoons. I have fished from them. Skied from them. Plus the high sides make them ideal for families with young children. You can have tons of pop up shade or create a small enclosed area with a HVAC system and or a head for the ladies privacy. Pontoons are very durable since you don't have be concerned with a gel coat getting scratched. Finally they are very steady on the water.
Growing up 60s/70s we had 2 different bachelor neighbors who were into racing boats. I was a tinkerer buying and rebuilding cars (later UCLA computer engineer/retired@50) so I fixed/painted their boats, as well as a 356 porsche and my final labor of love '70 Triumph TR6 ground-up restoration (garaged so it still SHOULD work!). ... boats are "Hole in the water to sink money into!" sort of like british cars (though today ROVER is owned by FORD!.
Hi Zack, I'm sure there are a lot of people that have damaged boats from the hurricanes in Florida that would be glad to pay you to fix the damage... You could make an absolute FORTUNE! 💵💸💵💸💵💸💵💸
@@largol33t1friend of mine paid 28k for a similar design accept with luxury roofing and seats... I showed him this and he wanted to ask the seller for a refund 😭🤣
Brand new pontoons are around 25,000.00, your boat is custom and you can't put a price tag on that. Boats are a labor of love, not an investment... Enjoy your work until someone comes along and HAS to have it.. Great job man! You saved yourself a lot of money and now you have YOUR vision of what a pontoon boat should be!
Sweet rebuild you mostly escaped the following definition. Definition of a boat- A hole in the water you throw money into. You did really good for your first boat project and you can't put a price on the knowledge you gained.
Thats probably a really good deal on your outboard considering a new one would have could cost you close to the entire pontoon boat and build. You did awesome work. I'd be proud to own a boat like that and I hope you are too. 👍😅
This is just a suggestion you should build some kind a netting thing for it so you can sleep in it without the bugs bothering you because you definitely look like you fit on the couch pretty good this way you can spend the night out on the on the boat with your fire going and you can also build one to keep you dry if it starts to rain something to do a quick connect so it works for you like I said just a suggestion
Great video, you show a lot of what anyone would be facing in rebuilding a pontoon boat. The boat turned out great 17k seems cheap for the final results. Did you include your labor costs in the 17k? Just think about how many hours you and everyone else put into it.
17k is a really good deal for a 20ft practically new pontoon boat. However what is your labor rate and how many hours did you put into it? Now its a 30k pontoon boat lol! But at the end of the day its whatever make YOU happy man, these are your projects and this is your channel I am just here to enjoy the content 👍
I love your build . That trailer is awesome. Looks like a runway at night. But to load your boat it's great. Gave me some ideas I have a 24 foot that I want to rebuild .
Great build! Nice to see! I love the ideas, the design, the execution of how it was done. I'm very impressed! You asked about pontoons and why some people don't like them - I cannot give you an answer other than they don't look like a traditional boat and they have a long history of not being very fast which some would find a problem. Of course, I've seen plenty of pontoon boats towing water skiers. My only concern is that given my climate (Maine and Maryland), the season is short and there's no way to escape the elements. I wish I could find a pontoon boat that was enclosed, or maybe a hardtop, that doesn't look like an RV on a barge. There seems to be only two choices - wide open with a bimini top or an RV on floats. Yes, there are some canvas wrap-arounds that go on a regular pontoon boat but that looks like a tent on floats and the windows are plastic. What I think I'd like is one of those enclosed "river taxi" types you see in Europe or something that looks like a glass-enclosed restaurant boat on a pontoon-sized boat. There doesn't seem to be anything out there. And, anything close to that is $$$$. Again, great build. Great job! All the best! Have fun!
Shout out from Canada! Good job on the pontoon. I watch your videos because I like your personality... you are very creative, don't cut corners and admit when you make mistakes. I see a great evolution in your editing and quality of your vidéos also. Super Bon travail!
You have a brand new boat. $17K is a great price. Obviously that figure doesn't include your time, but still a great deal. Pontoons are huge here in Upstate NY - Finger Lakes area and definitely very popular. There are 10 pontoon boats to every 1 V-bottom. Definitely not old school here.
Did you check to see if the pontoons are water logged? I purchased a pontoon in Florida years ago and it sat very low in the water. Turns out the pontoons had water in them. If you looked at the pontoons you could not see anywhere on them that would let in water. We ended up putting drain plugs into the end and draining the pontoons after each use. I know that now you can purchase epoxy paint designed to seal holes in aluminum. The reason I bring this up, the weight of the bar and seats shouldn't be much more than the seats, Captain Chair and consul that you removed. However, the weight of the passengers is another story. If you put 8 friends on that bad boy, she is going to sit low for sure. Most pontoons only give you about 1000 lbs for passengers after you remove the weight of the motor, gas, food and beer!! So very smart move putting a third pontoon on her.
When buying new upholstery, make sure it is marine grade Vinyl. My Friend Is an Upholsterer and always re-upholstered 1-2 year old seats that they bought cheaply on Amazon and it turns out the material is not UV or Salt stable.
Don't sell yourself short! Easily 30k on the Chain in Northern Illinois. Your time isn't considered either. But if you build, enjoy flip you'll always have a free luxury boat. Great job!
Great job. The only thing I would have done was Drylock the plywood which would have kept the wood solid. Also, if you add a second deck, put the base on hinges so the deck could rock back to being flush with the lower level. .. oh and a BBQ would be awesome.
Audio stuff is easy, marine stuff is much better for what you're doing...Awesome build! Just subbed! Also look for automotive gas cans keg style etc. FYI pontoon boats are awesome, they make 2 story ones with water slides, and 3 motors to haul ass with lol Dont let no 1 tell you different, everyones happiness is different!
Wood is always going to fail.. I absolutely LOVE what you have created.. why not use starboard for the deck?? I have to say YOU are a master at marketing . Bravo!!
Pontoon hate is just silly snobbery. I own a bowrider and every time I see a pontoon boat I get a tad jealous of all that floor space. For they way my family enjoys the lake a pontoon boat would have been a better choice. Love this video series, you got me looking for a cheap pontoon boat to rebuild.
Thank you for this recap. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey, and yeah, I’ll offer you twenty for it. Let’s see if I have a twenty in my wallet… nope. Seriously, it’s worth 24 to 27K, if not more. I don’t live in an area where you find pontoons, which is sad because I really want to do something similar. Overall, you did a great job despite mistakes and miscalculations. We all learn and you did a wonderful job teaching.
I had the most bad ass pontoon. 30’ crest, I shined the pontoons to look like a harley. It was rediculous. My neighbors used to hold there eyes and say damn where are my sunglasses. It actually hurt to look at when I turned into the sun.A shit ton of work. And a lot of time. The seats were custom made from the crest factory, super duper nice thick vinyl. Took 23 people out the first day and didn’t even bulk. I missed that bot and kick myself to this day! Sold it sooooo cheap. Bought a wakeboard boat. I miss putting in six gallons of gas and putting around after work for a week.. wakeboard bot holds 50 gallons and it hurts to fill. Well I had both boats for a while. Now I want the pontoon and sell the wakeboard boat. But I can’t find another one like it. Been looking for years.
Not bad if you don't have any value for your labor. It sure is a lot cheaper than the $90K I spent to buy my pontoon boat. However mine is a 27ft Barletta with a 300 hp Mercury V8 hanging on the back. You got a pretty good deal and I enjoy your videos. Party on my friend.
Great video! This was an amazing build and the editing is spot on. Well done and I hope you enjoy making memories with your squad for years to come. Cheers! Side note: Those bunks are awesome and I will be looking into them on my next build.
Might be a dumb idea, but you could probably grab a decent rope with a clevis that you could attach to the back of the trailer so when you off-load it and pull out, it pulls the boat to shore.
Keg would look super cool but be careful you dont want to put gas in just anything also JL audio is what any ski/wake boat or cigarette boat uses pretty much also I would love to see a restoration of a wet bike it is a very unique PwC and I would love to see what you could do with it repowering it would be very difficult but so cool. Would also be cool to see a restoration of like a 90s ski nautique those can be had for under 5k I think
If your in Texas I’ll give you $20k. No BS either. But I’m sure someone has beat me too that. Lol. Very nice work. I reman bass boats for a living and this is quality work bud. Great job. New sub here for sure.
Pontoon boats are great if the fit what you like doing, and you have appropriate local waterways. They would suck some place like socal where it's ocean, or long trailering to manmade lakes.
Awesome job. I love watching your builds. Just a few merch ideas, how about your logo on a frisbee. Or a take off of your channel name on the controversial bottle openers "ultimate rebeers" in any case keep it up I love what you are doing
I'd give you 25K. Only problem is I live in Hawaii. My new dock would love a companion though. 😉 You did an amazing job!! You should be very proud. Keep it up. Enjoy pontooning! ⚓ Aloha for now.. 🤙 Subscribed! 👍
Nice work. I love to build these things. Mine is like a an aircraft carrier in its convertability. How was you performance with the tri-toon addition compared to the bi-toons? Speed WOT, weight etc Thanks, I'm thinking bout a third toon. I built mine lean from toons up and kept it very lean with furniture and installed equipment. Lots of Bean bag chairs and removable picnic tables. Oh, and a portable boom-box. 23 mph WOT 24' Sweetwater with 40 Yammi! Cruise all day on 12 gallons.
