How much do I make on eBay? Reseller deep dive, reviewing & sharing my 2024 Q1 sales numbers
In this video I break down my 2024 1st quarter sales numbers on eBay as a reseller and compare them to how I started in 2023 and discuss some thing that have changed over the course of 1 year.

tried ebay its awful if you're selling items around 30 bucks. with shipping fees. ebay fees (fees if you want to promote your listing) comes out to about 14 bucks you get back out of the initial "30" you woulda thought to get back, can almost make no profit unless you got the item for a STEAL

I actually showed both gross and net numbers my net is about 64% of my gross - if you charge shipping then the “shipping fee” becomes mute as the buyer is paying shipping. As for eBay fees that should be accounted for when you’re sourcing and whether or not an item is worth selling. Promoted i do a simple 3/5/7 strategy and promote different items based on how saturated the item is and whether it may take more % - also remember not every item is a promoted sale so that also factors into the numbers. As for sourcing people source different ways, but I tend to stay on the cheaper side of the things and source from the bins, yard sales, or estate sales that I know the estate companies have good pricing to keep my average cost per item at a minimum - for example my highest selling category outside of sports cards is hats - 90%+ of my hats are sourced from the bins where I’m paying approx 30 cents per for them so cost of inventory is low

That’s nice but what does revenue have to do with what you put in your pocket? Don’t know if you got a $12,000 raise, your showing $12,000 increased sales

I showed my NET number which what was deposited into my account which was 3k more for Q1 2024 vs Q1 2023 - considering 2024 has been done with hardly any sourcing vs 2023 I was sourcing more to build my store obviously yes there’s some CoGs there but net vs net has accumulated for an average of 1k per month increase in 2024 thus far

If you go to my what sold video I did previous it’ll show my eBay store name - I don’t share the link because I enjoy knowing the traffic/sales are natural without outside influence and helps me gauge on how I’m doing more organically

FYI i know your new to reselling, i have been doing this full time for 25 years on multiple platforms including ebay and amazon i have to ask is there a reason you cropped the screen and only showed your GROSS sales can you do a follow up and post your Net (meaning what eBay sent to your account after expenses (like shipping and ebay fees) also are you Promoting and what do you promote at? also did you have any returns if so how how many and what did they total this is all very important for transparency sake MANY YTers HYPE up there Gross sales and many unknowledgeable viewers will think that is what you pocketed when most Net Numbers (what eBay sends to your bank account) is 50% of what you gross so like you showed you grossed $24k from Jan to April 2024 again Majority pocket 40 to 50% some even less then that so if we say ebay sent you 40% of that that means you only netted $9600 then you have to subtract you Cost of Goods, Your packing supplies, Gas you use to go sourcing every thing you spend money on regarding your business you have to deduct from that $9600 that eBay sent you (assuming that is the net) but adding the FULL screen Not just the Gross and Number of item sold would be Very helpful to all especially new sellers watching, Full transparency is the best way to go

Go to 9:09 and 9:18 and I show the net and I also did a full breakdown at the end of 2023 and gave an estimate (didn’t have my full numbers in front of me but it was a close estimate) of what I spent on sourcing. I have also mentioned that I have not sourced hardly anything in 2024 so the sales have most all came from deathpile (which is either already covered by sales in 2023 or again as I mentioned I stated in my yearly recap) obviously everyone should know that there’s expenses involved outside of Gross and Net (or so I would hope since it’s the numbers from eBay) but overall it gives a good example of the numbers

Just for clarity my Net for 2024 is 15,712 of the 24,500 so deposited from eBay after fees etc is about 64% then obviously you’re correct there cost of goods, shipping supplies, etc that have costs (my cost per item is usually rather low as I source a lot from yard sales or the bins, and shipping supplies if I remember correctly (not home currently as I said I’m on vacation) I probably spent 1200-1500 for the year so estimated at 100-125 per month
