Selling diamond rings to a pawn shop might seem like a daunting task at first, but it is normally a very easy process. Some things you should do before you leave your home is to clean around the diamond(s) with a little warm soapy water. You just want to remove dried lotion or any dirt that has settled around the stone(s) so that a pawn shop can easily see how bright the diamond is.
If you have an appraisal, it's never a bad idea to bring it with you, just don't get stuck on the number or value that's listed as that is for insurance purposes only. With that in mind however, it can give the pawn shop some good information about what exactly is in your ring and that can help them extend a better (read: higher) offer in many cases.

I love your videos explaining the numbers to regular people, they dont understand that what they paid new isnt what the ring is worth or what they can sell it as pre owned, the jewelry store got rich while pawn shops scrap around with discounts for business its a tough world and we are the jerks at the end of it all 😔

If commission then it’s not margin but percentage of gross so that can’t be factored in. Plus they make money on interest in loans. They’re looking at how much there can sell it for knowing they have to sell at a discount so if it’s a ring that you could buy at a pawn shop for $10k that’s valued at $13k then they can buy it for $7k depending on if you plan to pay the loan or sell out right They also make a ton of money from people who pay the loans then fail to pay so they lost the money from paying on the debt then failed to beat the interest and monthly fees and therefore lost the item

Really good insight.. my mom gave me this heart pendent, that is outlined in diamonds but the gold is a bit bent out of shape and its not clean at all. I think I will invest in a jeweler to make it look good again. maybe even reconsider selling it..ty!

on jewlery when straight up buying my pawnshop offer up to 50 percent what the pawnshop plans on selling it for depending on the jewlery if you pick up your pawns and want a collaterel loan and you have a history of picking you stuff up we offer up to 70 percent

Precious metal price changes everyday … so yes a day does actually make a difference …. A 22gram 18k ring won’t be the same price tomorrow if gold fluctuates .50 cents or even a dollar …

What happens if you have more than one ring. Lets say for example sake you have 8 rings. Should you try to pawn or sell them 1 by one to get the maximum price or should you show all of them at the same time and try to sell them as a batch.

pawn shops will buy/pawn gold for around what scrap goes for and sell it as jewelry . same with hardgoods, a pawn shop usually aims for 30% profit margin. a successful pawn shop consists of having a decent pawnbook. while maintanining 30% buy ratio (1 buy to 3 pawns) anything over 400k id say is a good store.

Great info. Curious to know, how often do pawn shops smelt down jewelry and sell the diamonds and metals that way. Also, will pawn shops buy loose diamonds themselves and if so are they usually offering about 40% - 50% on those values as well? Thanks!

What if my ring has real diamonds on it, and the people at the pawn shops are telling me that I am only going to get $100 or $50 for it? This is after verifying the ring's metal and diamonds, and telling me that they are using pennyweight. These people are lying to me right?

Hi , I need help I really don’t know anything about the daily interest work , I have several tickets and I think the manager is cheating me with my money, today I stop to make my payments and I told him that I want it to stop making payments in some tickets and but the time I pay I had already left some tickets but he still charge me for the tickets that I let go , is he supposed to charge me to let go some tickets because I’m sure I pay for those tickets and at the end I let go of that stuff and he told me that next time was going to be less money and why not today since I let go of some tickets, that’s why I know that he did charge me the monthly pmt on those tickets, if someone can help I’ll really appreciate that, thank you

Ok. I knew the gold weight and all that...that that's what they care about . BUT if you have a Rolex or a Tiffany diamond ring...does that hold any weight? I know Kay jewelers is not gonna mean jack shit lol. But I do wonder about how much they give for the top gold/platinum jewelry brands.

Brand means nothing. It’s about the clarity and color of the stone. You could have a diamond from Walmart but if it’s vvs quality you’ll be paid accordingly. If you have a Cartier ring and they get it from you for cheap, they may resell it as is and the brand name will add value to the item for them, not you.
