They grow from within. While obviously not the norm, I know someone that started as seasonal warehouse and went through all levels up to becoming a VP of something eventually.
I wish there were more people like this, willing to talk about how much they make or experience and not just push it off or whatever and make it personal.
@@therealjpoe23 why is it personal? What does how much you make say about you as a person? Quite the opposite - if you and I are doing the same job and I'm making more than you, I want you to go to our boss and demand a raise because you're getting hosed.
I'm a FedEx ground driver and honestly love my job I got a great route I work 45 hours a week and 6 days a week and get about 1500 a week before taxes here in Colorado not too bad here and I get plenty of hours for lunch .only day I work fast paced I sweat like crazy but hey no ac ain't that big of an issue to me
I worked in a UPS warehouse for 2 years and let me tell you, coming from construction, it was the most physically demanding job I’ve ever had. The craziest part is you would expect like a bunch of young guys to be there but nope almost everyone there is like 40/50 or older and still out working the young guys. I would always ask why they are still doing this and almost 100% of the time it’s because they wanted the benefits for their kids. Those were some real men.
What kind of construction were you doing that makes you believe driving for UPS is more physically demanding than construction 🤣 if you were an electrician than I’d understand
Same, I was a pre loader for about a year and a half. I’d end up walking like 10+ miles during my shifts and there was a bunch of people in their 40’s-50’s that had been there for years. Craziest thing is that we’re in Phoenix, AZ and the warehouse isn’t air conditioned lol, just fans.
Working preload for a year just to become a driver would be pure hell. Been there done that. It's a bidding system to get better jobs in the Warehouse and I guarantee someone has been there longer than you and will get a better bid. Search elsewhere
@brianwillis8447 working at the warehouse? I used to work for the fedex warehouse. Loading up those trailers n scanning every box that came down the belt was annoying. N i heard that it's the same thing at ups. Also to drive the ups vans, u have to work the warehouse first?
UPS workers are going on strike in August because UPS is trying to cut their pay. For drivers they’re cutting their pay by $8/hr (minimum) and for warehouse workers it’s even worse. UPS made $13billion in profit last fiscal year and they’re trying to pull this shit. Over 340,000 workers are set to go on strike on 08/01
That guy was sooo chill talking about his career. Hope he’s doing well, and was cool of him to talk to that guy with questions. He answered everything honestly. That’s respectable!
I'm not with UP s, but. Most of us delivery drivers get a bed rap for not wanting to talk to people. But The Thing is, it's just war under a time. Crunch from the higher-ups, but if you have questions about certain things, we will 100% answer If we know the answer.
I hope i see your comment, have you seen a short 5’9 hispanic, bald guy, works around 42nd sometimes. But he told me his routine and he was making bread
I remember a conversation between counselors at summer camp circa 1995. One was saying he would consider it since it paid like $20 an hour. That seemed sweet at the time.
I made $105k last year. Been at UPS going on 11 years and been driving for 6. Good luck to this guy… I hope he stays on and we don’t get screwed on this new contract. God Bless!
Yeah I’m trying to switch from Amazon to ups but my buddy who’s already there is saying to wait after this contract thing passes cause they might end up going on strike.
Honestly we should go on strike because we have the power, 500,000+ people stop working will mess the economy up but I’m honestly expecting the people in power of this to just be bout out so they agree on a bad contract and the cycle of greed and abuse continues
They move like that cuz they have no training. They can do their job without running and without throwing glass products on cement yards. It is only torture for newbies.
@@keonhobgood1551 I have 2 responses to that: 1. Don't define your value or success in life by women's wants or desires. You diminish yourself by so doing 2. What kind of women are you talking about?
@@stinger4712 😂😂 hes talking about black women. Because all black women MUST be willing to date drivers....or else... However, from my observations, every woman of every race has a preference for what she likes. I prefer white collar because its what i do and personality wise, its the most compatible for me. For me its very simple, no one is obligated to date you. Like who likes you.🤷🏾♀️
I agree with the first point I love life and have plenty of friends and hobbies that make me happy. That’s also one of the reasons that I been through so many relationships because I won’t cut off friends and hobby’s. Point 2 I’m talking about most younger modern women they seem to not want normal hard workers they like to chase excitement.
My dad grinded for 35 years at UPS as a driver. Worked 12 hour days - 5 days a week. He provided for the family and NEVER skipped a beat. Took us on vacations to Disney. My sister and I will always be grateful to UPS for providing a stable income to my father to raise our middle class family.
@@joseavila5616Guess again, they make big money and great benefits! More then you make trust me. I should know, i work there and made 150k last year, 9 weeks paid vacation and free health care.
These people work a lot harder than most people realize. Long shifts in freezing cold, sweltering heat, rain, snow. And they walk many many miles a day and climb many flights of stairs. Some drivers walk 20 miles a day or more.
That's cap. It takes about 7 hours to walk that without stopping. They maybe walk 5 miles a day max. 15,000 steps is average for a job that requires lots of walking
@@MoeDefinitely901 What would someone who sits in an office chair all day know about it? This information was obtained first hand while on the job with these people. Nobody who drives for UPS works an 8 hour shift. And depending on the area you’re delivering in, every house is set far back from the road. Even walking an average speed of 4 mph, you could easily hit that many miles in a 10+ hour day. Even delivering in an average residential neighborhood for an 8 hour shift, I would climb enough stairs to equal the Empire State Building and walk 7+ miles a day. Don’t speak on things you have no knowledge of.
@@christopher7398 Maybe now I sit at a desk as a film editor. But for 15 years I worked as an EMT on an ambulance and in an ER. Guess who's on their feet and walking around way more than UPS drivers? Medical personnel. Whenever a patient was admitted to the hospital from the ER.... Guess who pushed them on a bed with wheels to their room? Me. On my busiest day i'd register 18,000 steps which would equate to 7 miles. I think I know a thing or two about walking and delivering all day at work
Then he needs to start writting his grievances. I work 50 hours bc I want to, anything after 9.5 hours for two days in a row UPS has to pay you 3X and lighten your load.
@Pipiwknston81more so say you have a baby ,gotta spend time and help her too because i known a lot of guys woman leaves because she feels like a single parent.just working making good money isn't enough gotta bond .
If you get a cdl and drive with Walmart you get full benefits and 130k a year. You have to have 3 years experience and be squeaky clean. They are the highest paying trucking company in the business
With the new contract august 1 they’ll get rid of the 224 position and top pay should be 50 an hour. Also end excessive overtime. UPS pays well but there’s no AC in the trucks and when I started I was out there 9am-9pm 5 days a week, hard work
@@iRivasTV just a rumor in the warehouse, now it’s 41.50 an hour. I hope it goes to 45-50 an hour due to cost of living rate increase. With inflation it should

Been at ups 22 years great company especially for people without a college degree… package delivery is pretty tough… The best position to be is driving the big rigs (feeders/ team drivers) 6 figures no problem!
I work out here in Las Vegas for UPS as a package handler and I make $21 an hour and the drivers here make 31 an hour and the benefits are top of the line. This is one of the best jobs I've ever had. And I got time to work another.🎉 But right now we are in peek season so the hours are at least 10 to 11 right now. And peek season last until February 😊
That’s cause FedEx ground drivers are 3rd party drivers who don’t even technically work for FedEx and who don’t get the incentives like the actual drivers do. They’re not even considered actual employees of the company. Pretty shitty huh.
@@navinstrument8353defiantly worse. I work for FedEx in the warehouse as I go to school. (Because they pay for my tuition). But the warehouse is absolutely horrible. And it's not much better for the drivers

I deliver fedex. I never had to start in a warehouse handling packages. a little over 200 a day for what usually is less then 8 hours depending on how heavy the day.
@@randolphurriola1309 Its literally the same in America too. Pay has probably only went up like 30% in the last 10 years while housing went up like 100%+. Okay, this is out of the context but, I remembered when I was working at UPS as customer service representative before. The weirdest call we received that time was when a guy customer was complaining about one of our driver because the driver was having an "affair" with his wife 😂
87k is the base. You'll make 6 figures by your second year as a route delivery driver. You won't have much time to spend it tho, because you'll be working 12 to 14 hrs a day. And when you're off, you'll need to rest
@ruebascu ya I see people talking like it's amazing but it's all relative. Shits fucking hard work they ain't just handing out money lol u gonna feel it later in life
I currently work in the warehouse. I make $21/hr part time and I work doubles every day so I have a 9 hour shift every day from about 11:00pm-8:00am. After 5 hours, you get overtime, and if you work 6 days a week the whole 6th day is overtime. During Christmas season you can work on Sunday if you want, which I am doing and making double time pay because it’s my 7th work day of the week. I bring in a little over 1,000 per week as an 18 year old that’s in school, so it’s definitely a good job if you don’t wanna be in school
@@NickRidgerspay is wayyyyy worse. They usually don’t pay you by the hour. You get a daily rate. So like $120-$160 a day. Basically equals out to $12-$16 a hr depending on your contractor. No benefits.
If you can survive the horrors of the warehouse it might be worth it. I tapped out on day 2. I just wasn’t happy there and felt very unsafe with a million ways to get injured easily.
I can tell you that driving isn't any easier or safer then working in the warehouse by any means. It's just a faster way to get a full time position and top rate pay. I see drivers coming back in the building all the time. You would have tapped by lunch day 1 as a driver fam 😅 ain't got that juice

Warehouse work is hell so I respect him for that but most drivers I knew were assholes so I appreciate seeing the chill drivers even more. Dudes like this would help us preloaders and irreg sorters load the trucks so we don’t get hurt (despite osha saying we need to get help from our preloader coworkers if it’s 70lbs+). Problem was that only a handful of drivers were like that and all the rest were miserable spiteful SOBs that laugh at you while you struggle.
I was a driver helper in peak season of 2019. I then trained for package delivery in June 2020, but the job was not for me. Now I’m in school studying automotive technology so I can service and work on the UPS trucks. I’m proud to have 4 more months of school. 😃
My dad (the hardest worker I’ve ever known) worked for UPS in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, and they regularly verbally abused and gaslit him, and even stalked him when he called in sick to make sure he was at home. Glad to hear this guy has a better experience to share.
It is a great company and everybody starts out on the local sort rotation. Solid benefits, stock options, and they only promote from within. Meaning every executive started in the warehouse unloading 18 wheelers. They’re members of the Teamsters.
Full benefits, great pension, the teamsters are a little shit in the bureaucracy dept, but as a union they will protect you like no other. Consistency and memory go a long way and are rewarded regularly when combined with work ethic.
Was going to do this when I planned on dropping out of college. Ended up sticking through my classes and got a full time IT job. I make less than a UPS worker, but darn I got it good. A few Imstacarts on the weekend for extra money.
@Pipiwknston81 Yes. I mainly got in because I'm currently in school for networking and cybersecurity and have decent, unrelated job experience. Currently on summer break from school am reading a 1400 page book by choice to improve my skills and get the A+ Certification
@Jaleesa H. it is. It was in the late 80's or early 90's. We had a repack come in, box was damp and torn. UPS did repacks all the time. Kim pulled the box open and it was a head in formaldehyde in a very heavy clear plastic bag. It was going to a university for research but you ARE NOT suppose to ship biological material through UPS. Back then there was no way of knowing...unless the package got damaged. People sent guns, booze ect just hoping they wouldn't get caught. It took the clear quite a while to get over that.
Don't forget to mention it's mad difficult to get in because either you gotta know someone or really stand out. That's what I've seen at least. They giving you a ton of stuff they expect appreciation in return
