Spirit, a Bald Eagle and Raptor-in-Residence, found her way to our Center in 2016 after being discovered in a ditch in Juneau, AK, most likely the result of being hit by a car. Though she mostly escaped unharmed, Spirit has a head tilt and very limited vision in her left eye due to scarring. She now has an important job, helping us educate the public about Bald Eagles and the dangers they face in the wild. Learn more about Spirit on our website; alaskaraptor.org/product/spirit/
This is amazing! Thank you for helping to spread awareness. These are the kinds of places that make my dreams come true. I hope all of yours do this holiday season. ~Sheeara, Alaska
You don't really consider how big bald eagles are until you see one compared to a human. That bird is an absolute unit, and she caps out at 11 lbs. _They get bigger._
She's absolutely beautiful. These majestic birds are definitely my favorites. I love how they only have the one mate and how they are close to the heavens when they fly. Such beauty in that package.
I love the largest of all eagles, the “Stellar’s Sea Eagle”, too! That’s a huge, equally beautiful and impressive black and white eagle, a very large group of them can be found on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. They are absolutely mesmerising and seriously huge! 😮❤😊
In the Alaskan town that I live in, there are thousands of bald eagles and golden eagles that live in the city dump during the winter, where they're scraping by until it's salmon time. I have so many pics of say, 30 in a single tree, or a huge one 6 feet away. They are as majestic as you think. It's incredible
I don’t think you understand the scale of how MASSIVE a 14lb bird is. Birds have hollow bones which helps them be light enough to fly. That means that a 14 pound bird is GIGANTIC. Holy fuck
@@Kromsmitesyou The us used mainly metric for the apollo missions and even had to waste computing power on the conversions. Not to mention losing a mars orbiter due to a conversion error. Perhaps yall should learn about your own country before opening those big mouths of yours lmao
Love that bird. Well bald eagles in general. Beautiful, majestic and they look like they can beat the living soul out if you. God Bless the USA and the Bald Eagle for representing us.
Exudes majesty, power, beauty, grace, and integrity. It's no wonder so many nations like to use some sort of eagle as their national symbol. Unfortunately, most governments don't exhibit such qualities...
The units in the us we use to measure how something weights is either based on how many eagles it weights or how much freedom and democracy it takes to get oil
They have to be larger because they possess the reproductive organs, but being heavier means they're not as fast. Also regardless of body size, the male's talons are stronger and bigger in most raptors.
