When o am from “Canada British Columbia “ red seal crane operators earn bottom $45 an hour plus 12% holiday pay with a maximum of $65 an hour plus 12% holiday pay depending on the tonnage of the crane. The apprenticeship here is 3 years with 1800 hours of seat time and a mandatory class one truck license. Salary ranging from $105,000 a year to a high of $150,000 depending on hours it could be even more with over time. P.s I am a crane operator apprentice ✌️🤙
Yeah. On another of my videos a guy from the US was saying that my figures were way off and that "Those guys can easily make upwards of triple digits hourly." So maybe the US might be a good destination, too :) Thanks for stopping by.
Money is great but you also need ground time as a rigger! 95% of most companies will not put you in a crane right out of school because of the lack of experience. It's because of the high risk factors of a new operators. 1 out of 30 people could actually do the job all because of it's not always a parking lot job.
Thanks for sharing this. It makes sense you'd have to work your way up the ladder. When you have your certification does this qualify you to work as a rigger? Do they teach you on the job?
Yes the will train you on the job rigging for a crand company is the best way to get your foot in the door. CDL class a licenses are required where I work. 1-2 years learning the rigging part will only improve your skills as a operator starting out.
I'm not sure exactly, but I imagine you'd need to have a US work visa, and since the job of mobile crane operator requires training & certification you'd need that too. Hope that helps. Good luck.
Thanks for your suggestion. Lots of people are watching this video wanting to know more about different cranes. It is kind of hard to find videos of mobile cranes in the public domain for making these videos for RU-vid. I'll see if I can find more and put something together.
Right on. $80 grand sounds good, but $150 sounds really good. Why are you choosing not to max out your earnings? What would it take for you to reach $150? Thanks for your comment.
The difference in pay is working from the ground or an elevated crane 150 feet in the air in a glass box both are with the same company the 150 pay was offered to me but when i found the previous crane operators crane broke free and free fell 20 feet into some other cables luckly or it would have fallen the whole 150 feet after that he he quite and his job was offered to me but i decided to turn it down also when i reach overtime pay is triple my salary and reaches over 100 hr i work normally between 5 to 15 hours over time a week plus with 10 G in yearly stock and bonus production pay low is 80
Okay, that makes sense. No amount of money is worth your safety. That's cool you can get the overtime. It seems like a lot of trade and factory jobs are getting overtime lately, and that 2x or 3x your normal pay can add up fast. Thanks for sharing your experience.
These salaries don't include the per diem which is usually between $80-$150 per day worked. $560 - $1050 a week per diem. $20k+++ in perdiem alone. Perdiem is not taxable income so that is a bonus.
