Cammy, i admire you and Lizzy so much. You have built a great RU-vid business, but you are not just in it for the money. You do an amazing job at being a voice for farmers and encouraging young people, As well as educating and entertaining us lot. Legend!
Brilliant Cammy! Your presentation is , as always, first class! And you always include everything and everyone around you! Whilst you total up the earnings you have made on the day, do you think it would be a good idea to mention, out of that total turnover, your costs are to be deducted! Your equipment has a value, among other things, but hopefully at the end of your seasons efforts you have made it worth while! Excellent to watch, and Good Luck for the season!
Nice promotion for a job that is critical to the health of all the sheep! Loved seeing your family and baby Bonnie! Thanks for sharing! Love from the USA!
I've always wondered how the pay grade is on shearing sheep! Another fantastic podcast!!! This is so interesting and you are so full of knowledge. Thank you!
Watching you from Missouri USA. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. We raise meat goats but still gain knowledge of how you run your farm and it is inspiring!
A boy Cammy another good video 👍. Good money in shearing but it can be hard work too. My father & his friends said they used to make very good money shearing when they were young. It's different these days as most farmers shear their own sheep now.
Err...it's not the first time on a Sheep Game video...remember that you filmed her the evening of her birth...a big 10lb 12oz👶...man, your Lizzy is a superwoman😃🌠
A substitute schoolteacher in Escondido, California earns much less than that! You need a bachelor's degree from university and to pass a California teaching exam.
Whoever edits cammi videos stick all his videos onto a playlist oldest to newest.. i would love to just stick it on at night (i sleep with youtube on depending on mood ive binge watched all of sandi brock and all of cammi already but often stick sandi playlists on over night and I've watched hers 3+ times over lol
i am surprised you only make 1.65 pounds per sheep considering how hard sheering is but then farmers aren't getting much for the fleece at the moment are they. thank you for sharing
Yikes > Three (3) children...under the age of Three (3) > I will 🙏for more sleep for Lizzie. (Well, how about for your entire family) If all the babies Sleep... the parents sleep too. Haha. > Oh....Sweet, sweet Bonnie. > Later in Life, when things aren't so hectic...it will be a Blessing that these 3 siblings, are so close in age. > It's a life-long Bond.
That was really interesting! I often wondered if it would pay enough. Does anyone know if shearing is only done at certain times in a year or is it all year round? Lovely to see Lizzie & your family❤
Yes. google sheep wool insulation. wool is used in Australia to a small degree. Not sure about other countries. Some manufacturers offer options such as 100% sheep wool insulation, while others provide a blend of wool (75%) and recycled polyester, known as wool-rich insulation. Sheep wool insulation does not achieve the same high R-values as traditional glasswool products, such as Earthwool. This would explain why sheep wool hasn’t become a staple product in the world of insulation.
It's a shearing trailer that Cammy owns. gives him the same setup everywhere he goes so he's efficient. The sheep is right next to where he shears on the board so minimises wasted movements. It's a platform cos it's a trailer at the end of the day. Sheep also like moving up so it encourages them to move into the race
Hi I am Aga from Indonesia. I really interested to work in sheep farm in europe. Any possibility to apply the job from a person who lived overseas like me?
You're the Man - Cam. 💪 But...Yikes, that is so hard on your Back ! *Lifting all those Sheep > down onto the platform. 🐑🏋♀🐑 Plus lifting / moving them, as you are shearing them. > How many pounds are you lifting? Typical Day of shearing /Today ? 🤨Weight x sheep sheared today @102 = _____ lbs? (IDK what your sheep weight /guessin' > 175 to 210 pounds?) > Is there anyway to RAISE ⬆the shearing platform Higher....to be Even with the sheep? Which would enable you to walk / guide the sheep onto the shearing area. Maybe it won't help. Just thinking.
Pretty rare i think. I’ve never worked with anyone who’s had issues. Few folk get carpal tunnel but not that common in Uk where sheep are easy shearing.
The thing about shearing that gets me is that I watch yall do this, and I think, there's got to be a better way. You spend so much time in stress positions, tearing up your back and stuff, getting kicked and headbutt and stuff. And it looks like there's got to be another way. Like putting them on an elevated platform so you don't have to bend like that. But there really isn't. I've watched you for a couple of years now, and no way have presented itself that wouldn't be much slower, more work for you, and more stressful for the sheep. Makes me get sympathy pains every time I watch.
I charge the farmer £12/hr but should really be £15-£20 as I only charge the hours they are working and they are working flat out. I pay marissa from the time she arrives at mine till time she leaves at night so all the travel time etc is covered from my earnings that day. He gets £1.30/head so i make a bit from his sheep which goes towards that and cost of machines, trailer etc.
Cammy, you would have to be one of the nicest blokes. You're honesty and educational values are brilliant. I really hope that others head down the same path as there is a lot of sheep in this world. It's just a shame that wool these days is hardly worth anything.
Thank you, Cammy. Great to see you again, along with Lizzy and your gorgeous family. I love to watch you shearing, although it makes my old back ache! ❤
Well done, Cammy❣️ Not only enjoyed seeing the whole family with sweet wee Bonnie, but the public service of showing what is possible money-wise for shearing sheep. If only I wasn't nigh 80 year😢😊
You’re doing a great service for the Scottish Farming Community and particularly for young people in Scotland who are deciding what career pathway to go down I hope your video is also seen in the rest of the UK and inspire young people there too
Do you want to give Cammy a hand? Do you have 10 seconds or 21 seconds to spare? It's easy and free. For a 15 second ad, don't hit the skip button. for a longer ad, Watch it for 31 seconds before you hit the skip button. The income that Cammy makes on RU-vid is dependent on how many people watch the ad. Typically, that's only five people out of 100. I know ads are annoying,But the value that Cammy gives us in learning and entertaining Is surely worth 15 or 21 seconds of our time.
Even better, use that 30 seconds or whatever to look away from the screen and rest your eyes. No one said we actually have to WATCH the ads lol. If they annoy you so much, just look around the room, at another person or a pet, or just close your eyes. Your eyesight will thank you for the break
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I never skip ads on the vloggers I follow as I know it affects revenue, and hopefully, this will deter people from skipping as well. People like Cammy put forth so much effort to inform and entertain us, and they deserve every cent they can get. ❤
Fabulous video hope this does encourage young folks to take up shearing and maybe see the world at the same time. Lizzie and the kids were a lovely bonus to this video they all look fantastic.
How wonderful to see you guys. How beautiful Bonnie is. She will be ruling the roost in no time. The boys look like they have grown so much in a month. I hope you have encouraged young people to sheer. You never know a little spark will change a life. You’re such a lucky man to have a wonderful wife and family. I’m happy for you all. All the best xxx
Don’t forget the years of hard graft to get to that point, your transport, your shearing equipment, it’s not clear profit, Yiu didn’t deduct your expenses from that grand total, you did a great job and I wish you and your family all the best
Jock has a great future in the theatre or politics if he wants one: With perfect sincerity and dramatic hand gesture he explains "It's stuck!"... Bravo young Jock. 👏
Great video, Cammy, especially with you encouraging young lads n lasses to get into shearing. It may look easy to us watching, but my word you work hard for that money and earn every penny. It's great to see you encouraging the youngsters into sheep farming/ working with sheep. It was so lovely to see Lizzy (she is looking so well) and Jock and Angus, and of course, little Bonnie, what a beautiful family 😊. Thank you for the vidio, take care, see you next time 😁💜
Good afternoon from Montreal QC Canada and welcome back to Cammy .. and absolutely you guys did an excellent great job .. lovely filming footage compilation and follow up by beautiful background check music .. million thanks again Cammy !! ..
Thanks, Cammy, for this snippet into a day of wages in sheering. But out of that you need to pay for fuel for generator, blades, wear & tear on car etc. Hope your hernia is holding up. Was great to see Lizzy & wee Bonnie make her official debut on Yt & of course Jock & Angus as always. You have such a gorgeous family. Well done for a hard days work. Again, congratulations on your placing at The Highland Show. It was a very tough field.
Just curious do you Just use the generator where mains isn't available or all the time? And do you charge a different rate when using the generator. Shearers definitely earn their money for sure. And deserve every penny.
I came on to YT earlier to learn a certain blues song on the harmonica (Bring it on home to me)...and this channel was recommended for me....Anyway about 3 hours and 10 videos later I'm hooked!....Damn those unleashed domestic dog owners!....I'm Scottish mind ye and I've been searching for tartan army vids for the last fortnight, so maybe that's it....well done YT you sly old fox!..Congrats on the wean by the way!
I've often heard that big babies are HUNGRY babies & need to be breastfed at shorter intervals than smaller babies. Is that true for Bonnie? 🙏prayers for better sleep. I hope Lizzie is pumping some milk so that Bonnie gets at least 1 feed a day from a rubber nipple. I speak from a personal horrible experience with a beautiful baby boy who screamed for a solid 3 hours because this strange woman was trying to murder him with a nasty rubber nipple 😫💕💕
Ha.Ha.Ha. Elaine, that is too funny! Now > Not then. 🚼🍼 😭 I remember all too well what a...'Colicky' baby sounds like. ( and two kids 15 months apart) I always wanted to have 4 > I stopped at two. lol. Later in Life, it will be so nice that these 3 kids are so close in age. Each one is such a Blessing. 👼👼👼 But right now, in the real world.... each day is just one big Blur. > More sleep for Lizzie. 🙏
My oldest son was almost ten pounds, 27 inches long. He nursed every two hours for thirty minutes each time. Very hard to get anything done in between.
Good morning Cammy. An interesting video about sheep sheering.❤️👍and how nice to see all of you and your family. Such a nice o e also. Your beautiful little baby darlings are so cute and Lizzy looks great.❤️🥰
Lots of hot, sweaty, hard work!!! You need a little physical strength and a strong back as well. You deserve every pound you make!!! Bonnie is way too cute! (As are the boys!) Much love to your family. ❤
That is good money. Your fee per sheep translates to $2.88 Canadian. Here in Ontario it is hard to get anyone who charges less than $5 and often more. The difference is that there are not many flocks where they are shearing more than 150 to maybe 200 at a time because we mostly run accelerated lambing, so smaller groups more often. We do have some large pasture lambing flocks over 700 head and up to 2000+, but they are not as common. We are in real need of good shearers who are reliable. Thanks for sharing, and for the glimpses of your lovely family.
I'm always exhausted after watching your videos, Cammy. Farming makes people in the 'real' world (as you put it) look like slugs. Thank God for Farmers! Does Lizzie ever rest? sleep? sit with her feet up?
Suppose you’d still to pay the wrapper , run a vehicle, maintain your clippers and blades, and buy/maintain a trailer too. Still a good days pay for honest hard work. Top job 👍
I don't understand why those dangerous horns are left on the rams?? They could cause such vicious injuries to other sheep & humans. What's the point? 💕💕
That’s a breed characteristic for the Scottish Blackface. Remember, these sheep spend practically all year outdoors, fending for themselves, so I can imagine e those horns do have an anti predator function.
@@patpierce4854 O.k. I can see a fox not wanting to face those. Are there any predators larger than foxes in the UK? Was there a program to re-introduce wolves? 💕💕
@@elainerempel1613 for the sake of the British, I hope 'they' will not start with reintroducing wolves because 'they' did accross the pond in the Netherlands and Germany and farmers and other people with livestock are not happy.
Another super vid Cammy et al And well done on encouraging young people into the Trade. Though I did see a funny sign on the back of one of the shearing trailers round here it said glutton for hardship.
Jock, Angus and Wee Bonnie Wilson!❤🤌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐑 Great video big fella! All the very very best to Lizzie, Yer wee Mum, Marissa and yer sel + 😂aw yer troops. Expecially the Dugs!!! From Diane, Stevie and Big Chief the Baw Sniffer from Ayr show!!😂🐑❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I like your channel. Found you through Hoof GP. My only request is to speak slower! I’m from the States and sometimes you’re hard to understand 😀. Thanks!
Guid on ye. Great role-model. (I said "role-model" not "model" 😜) Fascinating to know, though starting at 55 might kill me 😂. Did ye have to pay Marrisa out o that, or did she get paid separately for baling? Don't need to know, just curious. Orra best, Mark
I knew Lizzie was a little close on the dates but no one said she was 6 months past due! I haven't seen a baby as big as Bonnie in a long while, she seems quite long too but maybe some of that is the camera. She looks absolutely fantastic! Little girl has no idea how many were waiting for her arrival other than her family. I think she looks more like Angus than Jock at this point. In me and my 5 siblings 1 girl and 1 boy look alike (dad) and the other 4 of us, 3 girls and 1 boy look alike (mom). Never thought of it until now but the 2 that look alike are both the only left handers in the family as well, that's somewhat nifty. Took me only 58 years to figure out that little useless tidbit of information, lol. I bet Lizzie is feeling MUCH lighter and relieved, the last bit is the longest! Speaking of little Angus, any news on his poor little nose? He's off and running too, no holding him back now either...2 little country boys on the run now! I've been catching up on my videos, was only a couple behind but Spot seems so much more confident, really nice to see him melding into his job and the family. Laughed so hard when Jock rounded up that stuck lamb, gets back in the 4 wheeler and ready to drive off. Does he know he hasn't graduated high school yet as he seems to be running the operation quite fine, lol.
