A lot late to see this video but Man I love our ventrac 4500 just wish it came with the rear hydros and 12v standard….. we use ours a lot in winter with cab of course the snowblower and broom work awesome!!? Thanks for the videos
Thanks for watching Chris! I would love to operate one in the snow. Would be a nice change from the dust and heat! Lol. Appreciate you watching brother. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Joe I own the very first Ventrac made in 1998. It also is the only all red tractor that was done special for me. Its a Kubota gas 3 cylinder still runs like a champ. Replace a hydraulic line every once in a while. Also use it to plow snow in NE Ohio. Mine was $10,000 new in 1998 with 61 inch mower deck and snowplow included. People told me I was crazy. You can't wear them out .Worth every penny.
I purchased 3 of the 4500 Ventracs and consistently had 1 or 2 machines at the dealer for axle seals during the 2 year warranty period. Loved the machines when they were running but after 2 years we traded them for another brand.
Hi Joe, your video was informative and I actually use to be a welder at Ventrac in Ohio and wouldn’t be surprised if I made parts for your machine. I actually left Ventrac in pursuit of another career. First thing I let people know about these machines are the people that manufacture them are awesome and care more about developing a quality item then just making a dollar. They may be expensive pieces but there is so much time and work placed into them I feel as you are getting the top end of the deal. Enjoy your Ventrac Joe!
Ethan; thanks for sharing this! I have spoken with some folks at Ventrac and have found everyone to be of the highest character. It sounds like you are a heck of a guy so I appreciate the work that you put into our machine. We have been super happy with it! They are not cheap, but they support American families and I am happy with that. God Bless in your new career and know that you have friends in TN!
@@JoeTheFarmer ventrac is 100% best plus there great and there great partner with kubota with same parts plus has options wich why i love ventracs and kubota the worlds best 2 products in the world
My son purchased a 4500z last year to maintain 15 acres of grass and hilly fields. I thought that was a lot of money until I saw what it can do. I’ll be buying one soon to maintain my 60 acres. I’ve got backhoes and mowers that don’t come close to what you can do and where you can go. Thanks for the video. John
Thanks for watching John! I think we are all skeptics until proven otherwise. I was shocked to see what this little machine can do. With over 100 acres we need more than a Ventrac, but I will say it gets more hours than the big machines. I’ll have a fun Ventrac video posted this afternoon. 😜
I have one more question for you Mr Joe because I would like to used on dry brush with out start a fire in the hill & highway sir so can you please give me a answer back on it MrJoe okay sir
I used to sell these units; I definitely love them --but in most of the places they could be well used, folks generally can't afford the cost of them. Well worth the money, but I wish they would have offered a product aimed at smaller properties or the average person. I loved their rear engine model, but the company didn't seem to support them and seemed to be killing the model off in favor of the SSV. There isn't a better machine for slopes and wide open areas.
I agree, and thanks for posting about your experience. They are the best at what they do and being built in the US carries a premium. But if thing saves my life and time working it was worth the money. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
What I’m trying to understand is I could by a much larger kubota tractor 4wd for about the same price and could haul and cut more surface area . So what’s the advantage of this machine at a cost of $25,000-$31,000?
@benjamingiuffria4446 A much larger kubota tractor would end up rolling or getting stuck on extreme terrain. This machine is not perfect and not really designed for heavy ground engagement…but mowing extreme slopes or wetlands it is very difficult to beat. I am fortunate to have both a large 4wd tractor and a Ventrac. They are VERY different machines. Both great at what they do well. Also, the Ventrac cuts FAST because it can maneuver quickly. With a 6’ mower on a tractor vs the tough cut on the Ventrac the Ventrac would win every time. You just can’t whip a tractor around like the Ventrac. Again, not knocking tractors at all. But the front mounted implements, articulating frame and 8 wheel drive is pretty awesome.
Thank you for the very informative video. I believe that number is just the fact that anything you buy these days is gonna be high. Equipment like that cost a lot to build. Think about it, whoever thought that to buy a new pick-up, with some bells and whistles, you'd be looking at paying upwards of $70k I only have 10 acres and about 8 of those acres are heavy woods so this machine would not work for me, but if I had to keep up all 10 acres up, I would definitely consider this set up. Again thank you for sharing the information and the great video. Joe
Hey! Thanks for such a nice message. I appreciate that! Sounds like you have a great place to call home. And yes, prices are high everywhere and the Ventrac is build in the USA and it’s nice to keep the jobs here. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Crazy how much people will pay to remove what the residential mower won’t. Both are money makers my friend. Just wish mine had an air conditioner in this heat! Thanks for watching brother. 👍🏼👊🏼
Last summer I got to try out a Ventrac similar to yours on our farm on what used to be pasture an open ground that I had neglected to bush hog for two years. Bad and dumb move on my part! I had always bush hogged it with my 1974 Ford 3000 gas tractor and old 5 foot Bush Hogg (both bought in 1985). Now I have maple tree and pint oak saplings to deal with plus lots of multiflora rose. When I've tried to take care of this this year, I can get where the bushes and some saplings aren't too big, but in clusters, I'm asking too much of my antique equipment. The tractor got too hot and died, so now I'm just going to get where I know I can get with them. With the Ventrac last year, I was able to get a multiflora rose as big as a house. That was all I needed to see. I told the dealer I probably couldn't afford the machine (and I can't outright), but he brought it anyway. Have talked to a new local dealer affiliated with the one who brought the machine last year. They have a no-interest payment plan that I may be able to take advantage of, but there is the supply problem. I just need the machine with the tuff-cut deck. I think it would take care of most of the saplings and bigger bushes. Didn't mean to write a book, but the Ventrac is an amazing machine. Thanks!
Hey Irving, Thanks for watching! No worries on writing a long post! I think it is really a great story for how the right machine for the job can make a world of difference. I get some comments questioning why I would buy the Ventrac when I have a big tractor and to your point; it is a great machine for mowing pastures, multiflora rose, thorns, around trees in a field, etc. I love old tractors; seriously. If Holly would let me I would have old iron all over the place but I don't own any. They have serious limitations compared to modern equipment and where they excel in simplicity, they struggle with safety, power and comfort. Ventrac's are awesome tools man. Expensive sure, but comes back to value to me. Like I said in the video; I would buy it all over again. Love our Ventrac and I am sure that you will love yours too! 😁👍🏼. Keep us all posted as to if you get one!
I considered buying one till I sold my property. It's definitely a great tool for clearing land and cutting slopes. I've mowed slopes with standard large lawn mowers which is terrifying. I also like how the blade box tips up for service. A tool doesn't need to look like a corvette to do a great job. If I ever need a large mower again, this will be the one. I've had enough of getting zero turns stuck. I've seen one (not closely) that had a 3 point tool lift on the back. I'd certainly look at buying one of these for land maintenance before any kind of tractor or lawn mower.
Thanks for watching Brad. And you are totally right. It’s the tool you need if cutting slopes and want to do it safely. I’ve had tone of comments with folks telling me that their tractor can do the same thing. Maybe so; but not with me on it! Lol. Take care buddy!
I would love to play with this machine in the snow; we just seem to get freezing rain and ice! Lol. Make sure he lets you take it for a spin Shawn!!! Thanks for watching.
Our golf course just ordered one of these machines after a one week demo. These are by far one of the most awesome rigs ever!! It out cuts all of our Deere mowers hands down!! Power, torque and very easy on fuel! I'm a golf course superintendent and I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE!!🇺🇸👍👍
Hey, can’t argue with that!!! I assume you all are using the contour mower? I only have the tough cut deck but hope to expand the implements soon. Thanks for watching!
It’s pretty awesome! If we can get some time I’ll bring it to Illinois and let get you some seat time on it! Hope you got those plots in and beat the heat! 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Been super happy with ours man. It could be a real money maker for the right business. It works FAST and the duals let you cut in wet/damp conditions. Good luck and keep me posted!
I got my 4500Z loaded up with a 60" mower, dual front hydraulics to flip up the deck and run the grapple, power bucket with grapple and teeth, and the awesome power blower for leaves, all for $29,780. Had to do a short road trip, but saved over $5K and got a brand new unit from a great dealer that provided great operator training and support. Shop around if you're in the market. Love everything about it. Would love a power rake, but really can't justify it. Built a bracket to hold a sprayer tank/80" sprayer boom that slips into the 2" receiver, on/off from the rear electric toggle near the seat, making lawn applications a breeze. Not sure why Ventrac doesn't make one of those, but it works great. If you're on the fence, get a Ventrac! You will never regret it.
Last fall I bought a 4500z similar to yours with the Tough Cut plus the extra hydraulics on the front to run a grapple on the bucket. I also have the 3-point hitch and 3-N-1 adapter. This machine is perfect for my needs. I first became interested in Ventrac after seeing it on Stoney Ridge Farmer’s channel.
Thanks for sharing that Doug. Josh is a great guy, he has been really helpful to me when starting our channel. Sounds like you have a great setup. How is the grapple? It looks awesome and the power bucket seems really reasonable. Also, what 3 pt implements do you use? Appreciate you watching buddy!
@@JoeTheFarmer I like the grapple - haven’t used it a lot yet but it adds functionality to the bucket. With the 3 pt and the 3 N 1 adapter I can attach the bucket to the back of the machine while I have the Tough Cut on the front. I don’t have enough hydraulics on the back to run the grapple back there but I do have full function on the bucket. I’m planning to buy a 3 pt landscape rake and at some point I will probably want to pull a box blade.
@@JoeTheFarmer I don’t have a driveway to maintain yet. We bought 8.5 acres NE of Oklahoma City to build a house on. I don’t know if we will have gravel or concrete yet but expect to have some needs for the box blade regardless. We have a fair amount of trees spread across the lot so having the mower in front make is much easier for me to mow among the trees. That’s the main reason I went with the Ventrac - plus the safety factor since we do have some rolling hills and the Ventrac is much more stable on slopes than the traditional tractor I was thinking of buying.
I’m a sales man, currently, if you can find one, you’re looking around 37k now, like everything else, the prices have skyrocketed. And as he said lol, prices are non negotiable
Yep. New machine looks awesome. But no need for me to upgrade (if it’s even an upgrade). I’d like to have some more attachments but need to find some money in the couch first!
Purchased mine in March 2021. It has gone above and beyond all my expectations! I have a commercial tractor service and makes my Kubota’s look like toys. It has done everything I have put it up against. Well the worth the money. Definitely a home run! Will be getting another one in 2022. Will probably never sell it. Have made lots of $$ with this machine…
Awesome!!! I can see how it can be a serious money maker. And, it can be towed on a regular trailer with a light duty truck. Glad you like it and it’s making you money! It saves me money by not having to hire out extra labor
I spent 29 years with 5 tractors with 3 runaways and one wreck and a banged up left leg trying to get tractors to do something they can't do. My Ventrac is backordered. Zero down zero interest for 4 years. Using a Ventrac to mow a dam is important due to the low ground pressure.....no rutting. Expensive? Maybe. Cost-effective? Certainly. AND you don't need to carry a case of band-aides for all the cuts from JD welding splatter, misfitting parts, and sharp edges.
This is an excellent comment man. You nailed it. And you will be super happy mowing the dam with it. What it is designed for it does extremely well. Thanks for watching buddy and keep me posted when you get your new tractor!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Tractors are dangerous man. I got to old for weed eating everything and hills and slope kill a lot of land owners. Right tool, right job. For what the Ventrac does it does it extremely well. I still need a tractor, but more hours go on the Ventrac.
Teaching kids how to operate heavy equipment is my dream goal for My community instead of picking up weapons and drugs. I want teach them how build houses and help build their own community and infrastructure because America is loosing its trade skill labor to illegal foreigners.
O have wondered how one of these would compare to the Grasshopper 920 series diesel 72 in front mower. The GH is a Heavy Duty mower for professional use and is also bullet proof. You can get side discharge and rear discharge on them as well along with a lot of additional implements for the front like your Ventrack. You can even get an enclosed can for it with heat & I think AC. They both would be great for property maintainaince.
Hey Michael, thanks for watching! I have never run a grasshopper but I am sure it is similar. I’ve heard great things about them. I may need to see if I can rent/demo one for a comparison video! Appreciate you brother.
Would've guessed all in for around $25K. You can buy 2 Kubota BX tractors for less than 1 of those. No way I could justify $35K+ for a Ventrac. Heck, I paid $38K for a brand new Kubota MX5400 with a loader and backhoe. Most 4WD lawn tractors with the right attachments/deck should get you very close to what that thing can do.
Many skeptics out there man; I was one of them. It’s a totally different machine than the bx. 8 wheel drive, front mounted pto and the center of gravity is inches from the ground. Not for everyone and I love the bx and mx tractors…but they can’t go where this does. I still have a big tractor, just for different work. And btw, they are VERY pricey. Mine was bought used and glad I snatched it up when I did. Thanks for watching Allen!
I have worked in turf management for over 9 years and have seen these used only once at a golf course in the Ozarks of Missouri. used in extreem hilly terrain. I was amazed at the ability of them. I enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing.
My farm has a ventrac 4500 P and we have the finish mower, rough cut (need to put the front wheel kit on it), tiller, and dozer blade. Had to replace the PTO clutch last year and just had the clutch stop working again. Is this a common problem? We mow the property and our PYO fruit farm(Wightman Fruit Farm) with the unit and it's been bulletproof other than replacing pully wheels when we hit rocks.
Great comment about gaining usable acreage by clearing out along fence and stone wall borders. I needed and bought a used bulldozer with a six way blade to remove large trees, vines and stumps along our overgrown lanes and borders giving us more hay fields and pastures. When this job is finished, I know the bulldozer will be replaced by a Ventrac. I really want a diesel but fear it is underpowered for the workload. Good videos Joe!
Thanks for the kind words Lawrence! I appreciate the kind words. I don't pretend to be a pro at anything; but it just makes sense to have more workable ground and stop the vegetation from closing in on you. That bulldozer has probably doubled in price over the past year so you should make out great on it if you sell it. And I have never run the diesel 4500 but have heard from others that it does lack some power. The one that we have is totally sufficient (doesn't need any more or any less) especially with the slopes. I am also a full size guy so it has to lug me around too! Lol. Is there something that you would like to see the machine do that we haven't done on the channel with the setup that we have? I just don't want to bore you all to death watching me mow! Lol. Thanks for watching buddy...
I ‘JUST’ now saw an advertisement here on RU-vid for this tractor and after it ended your video was the next video suggested. I’m glad I watched yours first because you covered all the info I wanted to know, about its capabilities and of the price! Too bad I’m seeing this so late because I know I missed out on the hat giveaway. It I had a choice then as retired military I would have chosen the one with the flag. I liked and subscribed and look forward to watching all your videos, as well as future ones.
Hi Joe, I'm Bill. Middle Tennessee looks like such a beautiful place to live (I'm thinking of relocating, southern Illinois now). I am aware of the summer humidity but what I am wondering about is snakes, I hate snakes. Do you have a problem with them on the farm? Also, the Ventrac is a great little machine, I've love it since I saw it in a video about two years ago. Have a great day and God bless you and yours.
Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out. It is a beautiful place to live but I threaten to move every August due to the heat and humidity…lol; but we love Tn. We don’t have a big problem with snakes. We have them for sure and see them during the summer, but most are harmless. You just need to know where they will be (wood piles, under rocks, etc) and be smart when messing with those areas. I actually like them in the barn because the mice are a nightmare. You cannot seem to set enough traps! Have a great day and God bless you and yours as well. 😁👍🏼
I had no idea Ventrac was less than thirty years old. It's a neat concept, but the styling screams pre-1980s. Especially the belt drive instead of a PTO. That's not a jab at belt drive. It just seems like something that died out with small machines like the Farmall Cub in 1981. Styling should be given at least some consideration for how expensive they are.
Def could use a refresh; but honestly you grow to love the retro look. At this point could care less what it looks like as long as it gets the job done!!! Lol
This video was as honest and accurate as any manufacturers video that Ventrac could have produced! I work in the maintenance field and have been driving a 4500Z for 10 years now. Our unit was purchased with the V blade, rear salt spreader and snow cab and it's a beast in the winter. We just decided to add the dual wheels and rough cut attachments in 2020. Man were we missing out! I would recommend this machine for any medium to large landscape project. We maintain a hospital grounds from all grass in the summer to sidewalk and court yard plowing and salting in winter. The rough cut mower cuts down to 3.5 inches a gives a decent finish to any field of grass. Great investment for Midwest region weather.
Hey Frank, thanks for the kind words. I enjoy spreading the word on a great tool. Our Ventrac has been a huge part of maintaining our property. Sounds like you have a great setup also! Appreciate you watching brother!
after I win the lotto/powerball I will have one of these and go around and cut peeps's lawns for the heck of it!! :) I CUT GRASS.... for a living?? no just to cut grass.... ;) :) LOL OLOLO LOL (:
Great video, I don't have a ventrac yet. Looking for the propane version. I want to thank you for sharing all your amazing videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Mike! I really appreciate that. One thing to note is that mine (4500z) does have a propane option. The kit reduces the slope capability but sure keeps the carb clean. Hope that helps!
I don't think it's an ugly machine. To me it looks rugged. You are cutting grass that's 2 feet tall. What mower does that? My John Deere X350 would not do it. Well made. Made in America? I would invest in this quality machinery. What's not to like.
Totally agree! It looks a little 80’s but those were fun times. My John Deer Z655 was sold for this machine. Haven’t missed it a day since it’s been gone. Ventrac is built in Ohio USA! Thanks for watching!
I like the new music! Good review on the ventrac, The main thing I like about is the deck is on the front! I was thinking the double tire are not something that I would need since I would use it mostly for clearing out overgrown trails. I will keep my eye out for a used one, might get lucky. Awesome job on the review. I think you hit every thing just right! Its perfect all around machine for what you use it for. Well you have an awesome weekend because it looks like you might be getting a new storm heading your way! Be Safe! Rick From Virginia
Hey Rick! I think the duals make it a much more turf friendly machine and as you saw in the morning when it was really wet; mowing was a total non-issue. Even if not on a slope it makes it a lot more sure footed. And as for the rain? BRING IT! It is so stinkin' hot that I will do a rain dance for it to cool down! Hope you are well buddy and thanks for keeping in touch.
Ventrac is an amazing looking machine. I have watched your channel and others now for a while. The Ventrac is unusual tractor and probably the most versatile tractor I have found. I just purchased my retirement home with 7 acres. 5.5 acres normal grass in north Georgia and 1.5 acres sod. Will the flail cutter. Do both of those type grasses. Please keep posting videos and I hope at some point to purchase a Ventrac tractor for my place. Thank you.
The problem I have with the Ventrac is to me its just a glorified mower that you have to use Ventrac implements only. As far as I know any implement they make is only used for their machines only. Take like a small compack tractor you do not need to use just what implement that manufacture makes. You see a John Deere tractor there might be a Kobota bruch cutter on the back or a Massey disc or Ford 3 bottom plow. That is just my reasoning of spending that much just for a mower.
I bought a 4500 2 summers ago with a standard 60 deck and it was $28k and change out the door. I used a 4200 for the previous 16 years and was , obviously, very happy with it. These are great products and you should not be afraid to spend the $ if you need a TRUE commercial tractor, it is worth it.
Great feedback John! Thanks for sharing buddy. Number one question that I get is how much is it. Your comment helps a lot. We love ours and hope to run it for a LONG time. 😁👍🏼
@@JoeTheFarmer Mine was in "ok" shape at 16 years and I still got $6k from it. Could have gotten $7k if I was patient tbh. I sold it to a guy who works at the ventrac factory! When I called in with a tech question before buying a new one the tech and I got to talking and he said a buddy who worked in the factory would be interested in mine. Supposedly the particular model I had, had some really great engine that lasted forever and he wanted it. They drove 3 hours and gave me cash.
@@JoeTheFarmer I honestly don't remember. The only major thing ever done to it was a water pump replacement. Ran like a top as long as you use premium. You MUST use premium gas or it would chug and sputter out. Thats all I use in the new one also (and in my grasshopper, all my small engines).
I absolutely love my Ventrac! I live in New Hampshire and use it for cutting grass to plowing and snow blowing snow and everything in between. I've owned it for three trouble free years.
It has a whole lot of versatility. I only have the tough cut but would love the power bucket, power grader, tiller and landscape rake. Oh, and the flail mower. Hey, a guy can dream right!!! Lol. Thanks for watching my friend. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Ha! We don’t get enough snow to justify it but a LOT of commercial snow removal companies use the snow blower. The attachments are pricey, but built like the tractor. Heavy duty powder coated steel. When you buy it (because you will. Lol) be sure to email Ventrac and tell them I helped a little in your purchase decision. Maybe they will send me some more hats to give away!!! 😁👍🏼
Lots of uses for snow removal. Also a cab with heat that can be added. We don’t have a use for that here in TN but air conditioning would be nice! Thanks for watching
We Owned them since they came out after Steiner, and still no hat or shirts. 4500 w/ the dihasatsu turbo 31.5 hp was my favorite. The newest 4520 has the gas kubota works great but thirsty.
WOW!! I can't say I can justify buying one of these for my 1/8 of an acre that i own here in CT but i am now looking up north for some serious acreage so i can put one of these to use!!! Compared to what the masses are willing to spend on the now disposable pickup trucks these days the Ventrac is one hell of a value!!! Like you, I don't smoke or drink and will be able to buy this just based on that!!! Some guys like sports cars or motorcycles but together they couldn't come close to turning me on like one of these puppies!!!! I look forward to spending countless hours mowing, brushing, sweeping, plowing and what ever else i can think of in the near future!!! Thank you for the video!!!!!
You and I think alike brother!!! You get one chance at this life; I’d rather be working the land than riding a motorcycle or sports car in a city. If you get the acreage pick one up and have some fun! Spent 4-5 hrs on mine tonight. Total peace man. Thanks for watching!
Why not pimp out a Cheetah 2 zero turn with dual wheels, t-top and cut your 20 acres in comfort at 16 mph at half the price? I appreciate the video and respect a good machine but I simply dont get it. At $33.6k its a 6mph lawn mower at the end of the day. All these top brands are reliable 6 gauge complete steel. Save the money and invest in new blades.
Hey Hugh, appreciate you watching. We had a commercial zero turn and I spent more time getting it unstuck from sliding down a a hill or getting unstuck in soft ground than I did mowing. Video never shows what the ground looks like or how steep the slope is. This is literally 8 wheel drive, can take 31 different attachments (tiller, power rake, finish mower, stump grinder, tough cut, etc) and it will hold a 30 degree (or more) slope mowing without skipping a beat. I get being skeptical, but just try one on tough material with slopes and wet ground. It’s a 32hp beast.
Thanks Joe for be straight with price. Still like to own one. There are several other folks that show what they he Ventrac can do. It’s only expensive if it stay in the shed. Not far from you. I live in Tullahoma.
Hey Carl, happy to do it. It’s pretty fairly priced imo after doing the math of what help costs these days. The more I can do myself quickly and efficiently the more the cost of ownership goes down. I wish I had a whole lot more attachments but that will come with time. And we love Tullahoma! Great place to call home for sure. Thanks for watching buddy!
That's a hell of a machine but what would it cost to just have a company maintain the property and what's your time worth? I don't have acres of land an hour or so and I'm done no big deal. But when your talking 30k for a machine and what might be an entire day of work you need to weigh your options.
Those are great questions. The clear answer is that it can be $75-$100 per hour to get land cleared with a “bush hog” type mower. That adds up fast and with as much land as we have it can be $1k a month for clearing brush. Also, you are now at the mercy of when someone decides to show up and make your property how you like it. We bought equipment over time and mostly because we got tired of relying on others and having people “name their price” when you really need something done. Also helps get the land ready for longer term plans to make more income from the property. The answer some may not understand is that I really enjoy it. It’s my release my friend. I love being out on the land and caring for it. I suspect the Ventrac has pretty much paid for itself by now in not hiring others and not needing a therapist! Lol. Appreciate the question and thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing, this tractor would be what I would buy if I could justify it. I have very small lot with a couple steep areas and lot of boulder areas that my zero turn frustrates the heck out of my mowing experience. Just by watching the videos I have seen so far, I know I would not have to worry about my mowing down the steep grade.
Thanks for watching! I got tired of pulling the zero turn out of a ditch when it would get stuck or slide down a slope. So it got sold. The Ventrac could mow a steep hill in the rain and likely be just fine. Right tool for the job my friend. 😁👍🏼
Very informative video. That’s an interesting piece of equipment. Wish I’d known about it before I bought my compact tractor, but I couldn’t live without a front end loader. I enjoy your channel and the content.
Thanks Mike! I agree on the front end loader. It’s a must have to have forks/bucket/grapple. Love the Ventrac for all that it does. Appreciate the support brother!!!
I'm in a wheelchair and i love the Ventrac machines. But because of the geometry of them It makes any transfer I am capable of impossible from my chair to the tractor. BUMMER
Man I am sorry to hear that. I enjoy having the hand controls; especially after hip surgery last year. But Blessed to have healed up. Most important thing is you are out there doing your thing. Have you found a machine that works for you?
Man that’s awesome! I would love to do the factory tour. And anytime you get a hankering to operate one just let me know; we love free labor!!! Lol. Thanks for watching buddy. 😁👍🏼👊🏼
Never heard of the Ventrac tractor before watching your videos. Interesting hearing the breakdown of what each component costs and the tractor itself. It proves the old saying right that "The cheap comes out expensive". If you don't buy quality parts and machinery it just doesn't hold up well. It would be interesting to hear the history of the little building from the 1700's. It must have been special as all of the other buildings seem to have been taken down. If possible that would be an interesting video in the future.
Hey Ben, thanks for watching. Cheap comes out expensive it totally right. I haven’t heard that before but it makes total sense to me. I love American made high quality stuff; and this is a heck of a tool for us. I will definitely make a video on the “little cabin”. If it could tell stories, I would absolutely listen. Take care buddy and thanks for supporting our channel. 👍🏼👊🏼
Do you think the diesel model would do as good of a job as that kubota engine . I been reading about ventrac mowers. For over 40 years I have volunteered and help mow a church campground north of Nashville in the union hill area. Are the area dealer for ventrac easy to work with. By the way, great video.
Thanks Barry, appreciate the kind words. I think on flat ground the diesel would do great. On slopes and hills, I would prefer the gas with more hp. It will use more fuel, but I have never needed more power for what we do. I think less power would make it labor a bit more in really thick brush.
Great video, we own 4500Z Ventrac the farm is located in Kenna WV 300 plus acres, we use the Ventrac to mow 4 to 5 days week, we have slopes 30 to 35 degrees this tractor will handle everything we put it on. No other tractor comes close to the Ventrac..
I'm from TN too! I'd love to see and run one of these in person. Considering one for my lawncare business as I transition into more landscaping projects. I feel like this is a more rounded machine than a mini skid or a wheel loader like avant.
Hey Elijah! Welcome to the channel buddy. We called the local dealer and they brought a demo out to our property. Didn’t take long until I was sold. Greatest thing is in a lawn care business it can drive on any residential lawn and not destroy it. Lots of tools to offer more services too. I only have the tough cut because it’s to keep up our property but hope to have more soon. Thanks for watching!
I am going to need to move back to east end of Hawkins County in next year or do yo look after my elderly dad who turns 83 later on this year. I know that Boones creek outdoor plowed equipment sells steiner articulating mowers. But who in northeast Tennessee is a ventrac dealer?
Pretty sure it is Smith Turf and Equipment. They have been responsive when I called but I bought mine on tractorhouse.com. Haven’t purchased from them yet.
I have a zero turn i tend to use like a brush hog. That being said I know I'm killing the machine and sometimes doing a job is like wiping yourself with wax paper. I have to go over and over to make it look good. Whats the chances of renting attachments for those once every so often jobs?
Hey Allen! Not sure about rental. I would have liked to rent the Ventrac before buying it but couldn’t find a place that rented them. Very glad I found mine when I did. Sold the zero turn and don’t miss it man. No longer pulling it out after getting stuck! Lol
I need a lawn mower for a steep grass hill 100 feet high and 300 feet wide. I like your video. Impressive machine. I live in Canada. Is there a dealer here? Marcel.
Just recently started seeing these types of video's on my feed. Everything from basic yard maintenance...Al Blades ect...to the bigger machine's. Always wondered what they cost. I was somewhat shocked to hear the price of yours. But for someone who can afford it ( not me ) and for the way you use it, I can see why your happy with it. When I was a little younger I use to love doing that type of work. Drove heavy equipment in the military years ago. Thanks for the video. I get a sense of relaxation watching you guys turn something from wild to beautiful.
They are not for everyone; But I promise you that a zero turn and 50hp tractor wouldn’t cut it on over half of my property. I had both, and they are now gone. Zero turns are awesome on a nice flat lawn; but there is no comparison to the Ventrac.
Hi Joe, I bought a 4500P with the Kawasaki motor that can operate continuously on a 30 degree slope 4 months ago. It came with 8 wheels, the rough cut mower and the power bucket. This is a well thought-out and designed machine and I liked how things matched up with the manuals. I can take this everywhere my Kubota tractor won't go or I'm afraid to take it. I use it on up to 28 degree slopes and enjoy it.
Hey Jim, thanks for sharing that. Few engines are more reliable than a Kawasaki. My 03’ atv (in our last video) has been nearly bulletproof. Buy once cry once. Sounds like you have a great setup and that you are like me; the tractor is an awesome tool. But the Ventrac goes into those spaces the tractor has no business. Appreciate you watching buddy!!!
Man; everything is relative. When I bought it I thought it was pricey. Now it’s a bargain. 🤣🤷🏻♂️. Love this machine, super handy and build like a brick. Thanks for watching!
Thank you. This is why I watch RU-vid, honest people being honest! You just do not get that ANYWHERE else. Or on you tube,,, you have to know which videos are real and which ARE NOT. Thanks for sharing!! And being REAL!!! And ALL the efforts it takes to do so!!!
Thanks Chas! I enjoy making the videos and sharing my experiences. And with the Ventrac, I am glad I found it man. Exact tool I needed and been super happy with it. Take care!
@@JoeTheFarmer Binge watching you guys right now. Expect (at 1 new Sub) keep doing what you are and hopefully it will be a benefit for you guys. You have the right approach and a good subject matter. I have seen many other small channels grow to large and most if not all take advantage of "RU-vid University" I'm not sure what that is but it seems to be important. Best wishes!!!
Thanks man! Yeah, I started the channel to meet cool like minded people. As far as I am concerned mission accomplished. This channel wasn’t started to get rich; far from it. But we do get the occasional product to test which is a lot of fun! Welcome aboard brother. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Hey Rick, you are 💯 right. We actually had a Steiner side by side and that was a great machine. Steiner Co was sold and then the Steiner family started Ventrac. Then sold it to Toro. Both very similar machines and just a preference at that point. I gotta go with the Red White and Blue. 😎. Thanks for watching! 😁👍🏼
Love this I have had one to use this winter. Awesome snow blower the cab heater makes it a pleasure to operate. I do about 4 miles on side walks and small parking lots The company that was doing our snow had 3 operators quit so I said let me run it it’s such a time saver
Hey David, that’s awesome! What is so cool is how versatile they are. I would never need the snow blower or heater; but it can do it and do it really well. Mine is a land clearing beast. I really need a power bucket and tiller but that will come. Thanks for watching buddy!
My name is Junior I live in Blount county Alabama I'm so glad that you are doing what you do and very very educational stuff bro thanks for letting all of us know what the price is on that there lawnmower on people let me hear back from you
It’s a slope monster buddy! Camera doesn’t do justice to some of the hills that we have but I feel super safe on the slopes with this thing. Even in wet/damp grass it hugs the turf. Thanks for watching man and sounds like you have an awesome place!
I have been admiring these machines for a few years now. If I was young again I would have a couple of these with summer and winter attachments. The only other things I would need would be a good pickup truck with a nice flatbed trailer to carry them around. A younger person could make an excellent living with this machine in the summer and retire all winter or work all year with the winter and summer attachments. What a great machine. Saw a couple of them removing snow in a large plaza and they did a very slick job. Love it.
Thanks for watching John. And yes, it could be an absolute money maker. I plan to plant my son on it during the summers in a few years and teach him how hard it can be to earn a dollar! Well, it would be fun too. 🤣. Take care brother!
Ive been admiring this machine and i am 16. I am planning on buying one to do the exact things you mentioned, cause if i can make my way to getting neighborhood contacts in the summer im sure they wouldn’t mind me back in the winter. And if i do clear sidewalks and all it would even make bus routes safer so im sure the parents would be happy
You are what’s good in this world brother. The only way I have this machine and my land is I have been working at least one job since I was 13. You are 16 and you figured out what it takes to get what you want. That’s awesome. 👍🏼👊🏼
Mine is the Kubota gasser. It’s 32.5 hp and nearly identical to the Kubota diesel. Problem with a Ventrac diesel is that it has to be under 25 hp to stay tier IV emissions compliant. You can’t fit the emissions equipment under the Ventrac hood so they have a lower hp diesel. For me, I want the hp. Been very happy with the kubota hp. Thanks and great question!
Thank you for this video. You answered many questions I had. I own and maintain a wedding venue in Muskogee, Ok. I have been trying to justify buying a Ventrac for about two years. This video may have sold another one. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks David, I appreciate your kind words. It’s all about the right tool for the job and I believe that this machine fills a need that many of us have. It keeps your property beautiful and in you case it will keep the brides happy!!! 😁👍🏼. Thanks for watching and keep in touch!
I got mine used (172 hrs) from dealer out of Tulsa. That was the closest used one I could find nearest to me in North Texas. I'm getting side work alone based upon the name, look of machine, and the reputation of the tractor if they have every seen a YT video about them. People are just amazed at what it can do and where it can get that a larger sub compact just can't compete.
@@JoeTheFarmer more residential but I live rural south of DFW and everyone has large lots or some acreage but no equipment. I'm starting to really make a name for myself and the 'cool odd looking ' tractor as some people call it. My neighbor calls it a 'transformer' because I'm always switching up attachments in minutes. I even put the transformer sticker on it and all my attachments.
I’ve got 150 acres in hilly southern Ohio with woods, trails & food plots. We use a Kubota L series for brush hogging & tilling. I currently use a zero turn for mowing about 7 acres of grass and I gotta say, it’s dangerous. Also got about 1.5 acre pond which has to be weed eater every 3-4 weeks. I’ll be 60 in a few weeks and I said things need to change for me. So I think first week of May 2024 I’m taking the plunge. The quote I got for the 4520 with the Kubota gas EFI with 72” finish mower & I believe the 60” tuff cut & the dual wheel setup was 45k. 48 months with 0 % interest. At my age I figured it’ll be the last mower I will ever buy.
Your life and safety are worth every penny my friend. It won’t till like your L, but it will mow circles around it. And you will never feel like you will turn over.
Great video, Joe. Thanks for the price breakdown. They also market a turbine attachment for blowing leaves priced around $5500. We purchased a Scag for our hilly 10 acre field/yard. This Scag although fast, has control/braking problems on several of our slopes. Your setup looks like it's moving to the top of my wish list. Throughly enjoy your videos.
Vinny Pintrac : yeah here in canada its $35,000 with the diesel or gas powered ventrac with comfortable enclosed cab and 30 attachments included wich it is cheaper then paying $180,000 for a holder tractor alone
Hey Jack, I don’t. That’s cut with a zero turn. I would but don’t have the finish mower deck. It does cut very well and is easy to swap…but it’s 4 grand. 🤷🏻♂️
Bought my Ventrac new in 2014 w/ Tough Cut mower, salt spreader, & straight front plow and it remains my favorite machine. I also use John Deere commercial riding mowers because they have their purpose, but the Ventrac is my fav.
@@JoeTheFarmer We use an old JD F935 and a newer F930 with 5-ft decks. We've kept the F935 even though it's a 1983 model because it's a tall-grass chomping beast and can also pull out bushes or move certain heavy items like an oversize doghouse. The 935 is a diesel model and the F930 is powered by a gas engine. Glad you're enjoying your Ventrac.
I just realized after looking at your channel that you are in fact a lady. My apologies for assuming! Most of our viewers are male; but all are welcome. 👍🏼
💯 agree. That’s one reason I went used. Saved a lot. This machine just saves so much time for us that it’s completely worth the investment. Appreciate you watching!
A very helpful video, I am sure to those who do not have a Ventrac. I have a 4500Z with a Tough Cut, Bucket and Grapple and a Power Rake.. Nothing compares to it that I have found. I really enjoy and learn from your videos. Thank you !
Thanks rag top! I have power rake envy. My driveway was trashed from all of the rain and spent two hours wishing I had one! Lol. Appreciate you watching brother
