Installed a water heater for a co worker. She Paid $816.00 for a Bradford White 40 gallon. That came with two feed lines, gas line with ball valve and a strap. Took me an hour to drain the old one and the install new one. I hauled off the old one too. She paid me $150.00 in labor.. Easy money.
I really appreciate you taking the time to break this down. I wasn't aware of all the components involved and now it makes a lot more sense. I did the Rheem self install option but I think your price is fair for what you offer.
Just replaced my gas water heater with a 50 gallon Bradford White, 6 year warranty, new expansion tank, sediment trap, gas line, copper and straps, and a new drain pan for $1750 out the door, hauled away old heater, I'm just north of San Diego in Riverside, now I don't feel so bad
did this $1750 include the cost of labor and the water heater as well? How much was the cost of the labor alone? Appreciate it because i need to replace my water heater and been getting quotes from plumbers saying $3,500 for the labor installation alone. Sounds a bit ridiculous
Great video! Not sure if you have run into this... I have a gas water heater and as of recent, it seems that the first use of the day (usually a shower), the water maxes out at a luke-warm temperature. Once that shower is over, the next use of the water heater is another shower around an hour later. For that use/shower, the water comes out much warmer. The thermostat on the heater is set to the main setting (large mark on the t-stat knob). We had the accumulator tank replaced recently (sits on top of the water heater tank) and they also drained the 50 gallon water heater tank at the same time. The water heater itself is around 15 years old. No water conditioner is installed. I do not know if this an issue before the repair since we were not living in the home at that time but I am pretty sure that since the repair was made, this is how the water heater seems to be working now. Any thoughts, tips? Thanks!
those older gas valves are only temperature accurate within around 30 degrees, so it's not hot enough initially to kick on. the temp probe has some buildup on it too further hindering it's accuracy. my old one was the exact same way until I replaced it last week.
The water stratifies in different temperatures in the tank when it is not used overnight. In some units the temp sensor in in an area where the water is warmer. When you take your shower in the morning the incoming water mixes things and you get a p warm showe.r My GE does that however it has lasted 20 years. I got a 50 gallon from a friend that really needed an 80 and it was 4 weeks old and he gave it to me. I think my tank knows that there is a replacement sitting next to it. The difference between a 6 and a 12 year tank is the number of anode rods the 12 has 2 and the 6 has one, they prevent the tank from rusting. I just one for an elderly neighbor who was quoted $2000 to replace a 30 gallon tank. The tank was $400 and the fittings were $25 (I put a shut off on it). It broke my heart when see started to cry when I would not take her money. Mrs. Howard and her husband were like grand parents to my 3 children it was the least I could do. They both made it into their nineties and passed away within a month of each other.
Just left your water heater vid with the Rheem / Home Depot / "warranty" disaster...COMPLETELY understand your switching to Bradford White. I did the same thing about 3 years ago due to the same problems. I found after about a decade of solid Rheem-mostly installations in residential settings - that there was literally ZERO DIFFERENCE in the leaks-under-warranty time frame between the Performance model from the box store and the Professional model from my contractor-only wholesaler !?!? It was MUCH easier to replace the Pro model from my wholesaler vs the hassle of the Performance model from the box store...BUT...I firmly believe there is ZERO difference in the tank "quality" based on my experience that WAY TOO MANY of BOTH types spring leaks under the 6 year warranty !?!? Others may have had better luck , but this was just my experience...and I've noticed better results with Bradford White in the leak under warranty category so far.
Ok...but what about costs of an ELECTRIC water heater installation? And what is the warranty of the B-W branded contractor grade electric water heater and the labor warranty of the install?
We don’t really use electric water heaters in San Diego. San Diego uses 95% natural gas. So I’m our case electric is replaced with tankless or tank gas water heaters.
guess what? the Braintrust out there in Cali is BANNING all gas appliances....no gas furnace , no gas cooking range, no.GAS WATER HEATERS!!! How do you spell S-T-U-P-I-D???
I was thinking that. We charge between 275 (for contractors) & about 325-350 residential. My wife and I are the labor, insurance, bonded, and of course licensed. We are the absolute cheapest that I'm aware of for licensed work in the area... So even with all of that, we still have a decent profit margin.
@@quickwaterheaterfiltration5292 that is me ! I've been a plumber apprentice a little over 3 years but I am stuck just doing drains. I want to go back doing just potable water . I want to master installing water heaters and want to better my customer service. I am looking for a company where I can grow, make money and retire .
