Our legendary Murcielago is now 20 years old and has racked up 301,000 miles! So Simon sat down with his calculator to work out how much he's spent on it over the years, the figures are amazing. But the big Lambo had to earn its keep so how much income did it generate and did it cover its costs, make a loss, or maybe even make a profit?

Lovely to see this car again - I drove it in around 2010. It remains the most thrilling drive I’ve ever had - I drove your DBS and 599 on the same day and it totally eclipsed those beautiful vehicles. I think the speedometer was still connected in those days and I reached some pretty impressive figures. The car drifted slightly on a corner and the instructor was so impressed I held it he gave me a couple of free extra laps. Wonderful memories thanks again.

Fascinating facts and stories. I regularly read about the car as a subscriber of EVO and indeed saw many advertisements for track days with it as the cover photo. Would be great to see it in person one. All in an amazing story that clearly has plenty more chapters to come.

Being an avid Evo reader from the start, I remember the car well. I really felt attached to the car when I realised Simon lived local to me and I would see the Murci burble through the village. Those Evo stories are a part of my life with cars. Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us all.

Great video lads. Great memory of SG driving the car at VMAX with me as a passenger and the brakes just about coping at the end of the runway. Fun times. Good to see you’re well Simon. Legend for taking that initial step and keeping the old girl going. Enjoy in great health.

SG54LAM….. I remember when the warranty ran out on this thing and Simon wrote ‘I bet they’re breathing a sigh of relief down in Sant’Agata…’ after all the miles and memories that had been piled onto it….. Iv lusted after a Murci ever since….. drove the 6th gear white LP at Castle Combe a few years back. Still makes me smile how awesome it is as a car.

A great video. I remember reading about Simons exploits in Evo magazine many years ago. A wonderful car and great experiences for the 8000 lucky people who had the opportunity to drive it. Seeing the spend and income analysis was very interesting. It makes the £42000 I’ve spent on a motorbike over the last 8 years seem like peanuts in comparison🤔 😀👍

Simon I had the pleasure of meeting you at a 6th gear experience I bought myself for my 30th birthday almost 9 years ago at Long Cross. You were manning the food truck and were so humble and down to earth even if I was starstruck talking to the guy who I'd been following for years in the pages of Evo's Fast Fleet. I LOVE reading about SG64 and hope your channel goes from strength to strength! Great idea for content

Incredible history. I’ve mentioned before Simon, I met you in either late September October 2004 or 2005. You were at Oulton Park and there were a few of us from U.K. section of Fchat there. You took the niece out of that ‘reputable’ (tongue in cheek) supercar dealer who sponsored ClubScud. You came back safe and sound, both exited the car closed the doors, the car laughing to itself locked the doors. We stood there in the late evening cold, keeping warm off the Murci’s running engine whilst you waited for breakdown company to get us in. Surprise surprise because the breakdown chap had never had to break in to a Murcielago up to that point 😄

Someone isn't keeping it tight for the next guy 👍 Is the alcantara dash factory? I don't remember ever seeing it on a Murci.

No the dash is not from factory, it was re trimmed some time ago.

Congratulations Simon. I'd admire you for taking a risk, being entrepreneurial and making it pay! I think you should publish a coffee table book about the Murcielago - a biography of the car and yours & other people's experiences with it. Your car is now a legend not just in Lamborghini but in supercar circles.

Love this car and have followed it from the start in evo. Even though I never got to drive it I feel attached to it and your journey. This inspired me over the years to have a Lambo and I am in the process of buying a performante, not a V12 obviously, and it is in orange as just had to be because of your murcie.

Lovely video ❤ Not sure what annoys me most, the fact that I don't have Murcielago or the fact I'm in my 50s and my hair is much greyer than the owner of this one 😂😂

Yep, my 2003 Mercedes Benz E 500 now 21 yrs old and today I sent it in for $3,600 repair. Then plus another $1,000 it needs in maintenance now. I am paying Ferrari prices on this thing. I just could not let it go. It is too beautiful. I lost track of total costs.. just too much.

Don’t worry - I’m doing exactly the same thing with my 1983 380SE. When a particular car gets under your skin, there’s no point fighting it.

Original engine 4 rebuilds😂😂😂😂 I'm on 427k on an an Toyota Lexus. Not the same thing but.....
@georgeb9088
@georgeb9088 9 дней назад
This car has mostly done track days. I'm sure that if you track your "Toyota Lexus" on a daily basis it will need engine rebuilds. Racing on the track puts a lot of strain on the engine and all the car's components. If that Murcielago was only doing daily commutes than I doubt it would need an engine rebuild at 300k miles.

Dive 1993 740iL, have drive 80000 kms in 6 years to bring total to 365 000 kms Engine (designed by Paul Rosche in his prime) still in mint condition Magnificent engineering!
