Invest in a robot mower. They are absolutely brilliant. The lawns always look brilliant. No labour. Really quiet. No horrible fumes really efficient Nor petrol costs. Just £€40 per year electric use. We have had one going for 5 years and it has only needed one upgrade For £250. It mows about 1 acre (that’s all we have ) but a friend has a 4 acre plot and has 2 robot mowers. Trust me I wish I’d done it 20 years ago oh and one final thing it mulches. So the lawn gets healthier and healthier over time and always looks like a bowling green

We’re just getting started.. we bought a 33’ Geodesic Dome Greenhouse ,(proposed attraction) then a White Duck Bell Tent and a Luna glamping stargazer dome. Just broke ground for the greenhouse foundation. One step at a time doing most everything ourselves, working with a budget and trying to keep expenses to a minimum. Thanks for the information & tips. I will be airing our progress as we go if you’re interested. I subscribed, going to watch a couple more now… Thanks again!

Hi, thanks so much for watching! That's so exciting would love to see your progress. Is this the channel you will put it on and do you have an Instagram for your site? I have never seen the white duck tents but we are heading to the glamping show America's next week so hoping to see them there! Best of luck with everything, can't wait to follow your progress. Vicki

Hey you said something about tent being destroyed by storm. I was thinking about tipi - was it the tent like that? Would you think that tipi will not survive storms? and will need to be stored for winter?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream Год назад
Hi! It was our bell tent that got destroyed in the storm. It's just got the one central pole and it pierced straight through the top! It was a very large 7 metre one but we also have a 5 metre one which seems to do better in wind. I think if you had a proper traditional tipi with the 3/5 crossing poles it might do better. We've got an interview coming up on our channel with a company called glamping innovations who are in production of a tipi which had really good wind resistance stats. What manufacturer would you be going with? They should be able to give you info on whether it can cope over the winter. Thanks! Vicki

Hi! We bought the house and it came with a 6 acre field. It was a 3 bed house with 3 outbuildings and the field (7.8 acres total) for £435,000 in 2011 There are a few glamping sites on the market at the moment, might be worth a look!

Having 3 generations sounds amazing, that's something Bryan and I struggle with is that it's just the 2 of us, we have no family to help as both my parents passed away and Bryan's are in South Africa. So doing it as a family venture will make life so much easier and more fun for you guys. Let us know how you get on, I'm so pleased the videos help. Thanks, Vicki

Do you take the domes down every year as you do with the yurts? Also do you have a shed to store the yurts or all the cots/high chairs/ beds whatever you are not using at the moment? Your place looks lovely, I am based in Greece looking to start a glamping business and you are amazing inspiration!
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 2 года назад
Hi! Thanks for getting in touch and for your kind words! We leave the domes up all year round as the canvas is a lot more durable than the yurt canvases. We have a 40ft shipping container which we store all the wood and furniture in and then we have a room in our house that we store all the mattresses in. One of our videos, I think it was the top 5 tips for running a glamping site, shows the room we store all the soft furnishings in and how much we have to store! Wow Greece! That's so exciting! Will you use domes for your glamping site then? Thanks, Vicki

Did you use any loans and if so what kind ?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 2 года назад
We did get a £15000 loan and we had a mortgage on the house that came with the land. Mainly we kept reinvesting what we made each year for the next year. Thanks, Vicki

I don't mean to be too personal - but on average what kind of income can be expected from this type of site - with maybe 5 domes/shepherd huts/yurts?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream Год назад
No worries at all, we are always happy to answer any questions. We average about 100 nights per structure per year, our 3 smaller domes are £110 a night so that's £11000 each and the larger 2 are £150 a night so that's roughly £15000 for each of them which is £63000 a year. There are a lot of factors in that, we are family friendly so rarely get mid weeks full in term time and also don't put our prices up in the school holidays so that decreases our potential income in peak times. We also end up spending a lot of money each year in improving the site so never see £63000 in profit, more like £10000 if we are lucky! 🤣 Hope that helps! Vicki
