I am doctor nhs for last 18 months, I was on 6 month fixed contract, I am eligible for maternity leave if working till 25th of august but the problem is my contract ends by 31st august.. I can take leave from 22nd September. The main concern is the maternity pay as SMP IS WAY TOO LOWER SO ANY idea what to in this situation. Can I still be eligible? Thanks

Hi, is it better to spread your OMP over a 52 weeks period? Do you pay less tax by doing this?

Hi Rachael, I wouldn’t know which is better as I haven’t explored the other option. I asked to spread it over a year so I wouldn’t be without any pay for the last 13 weeks of my maternity leave.

Thank you for this video. please my wife Has been working with the NHS as a band 5 nurse for the past 12 months. Now she is 4 months pregnant. She got a new job as a Band 6 Senior staff nurse with ANOTHER NHS. Please i want to know will she be entitled to the Maternity pay and leave?

By all means, she should be entitled as long as she’s moving to an NHS and there won’t be any break in her NHS service.

Hi sis, I need advice I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant with over 3 years of NHS experience. I intend to change jobs when in a months time. Please am I still entitled to Statutory maternity pay or should I go for maternity allowance.
