Using wordpress myself, easy as pie and free. I pay 6,- a month hosting costs which I think is fair. Your website looks great now, heaps and bounds better than when you first started the daily streams.
Thanks! I'm 99% sure it really comes down to having the cover art and a good theme. In both cases, a professional designer somewhere has already done the hard work of figuring out typography, composition and white space etc. All I gotta do is not mess it up!
I am also on Wordpress. Well done video! Always great to save money. I am an artist and I share my painting demos and studio tours here. So much variety on RU-vid. Cheers on a Monday!
your website looks good! I used to use Wordpress but for some reason, my brain stopped working with it. I switched over to Squarespace because it's so simple, even if it costs more. The ease of using it (for me) made it worthwhile. I really need to redo everything though as I'm once again splitting my pennames apart... rebranding, so fun (it is, but also, is really not lol)
Thank you! The older versions of Wordpress were a bit clunky, especially the classic site editor. I haven't tried Squarespace yet! Good luck with the rebrand... I'm sure the work will be worth it!
You did leave out the longest process in building the website, which is scrolling through the millions of different Wordpress Themes to find the one you like. And then googling the reviews on your shortlist, and getting sucked down a rabbit hole of wonderful things your can do with Wordpress but which you don't need or have use for right now. There are just too many shiny bells and whistles to make it a quick process ;) though that might just be my nerd side talking... What theme do you use?
I'll admit that was true before, when we were stuck with the classic site editor! Modifying Wordpress themes was hard, because you either had to buy the premium themes which then unlocked menus that allow you to edit more sections, or install a bunch of extra plugins as a workaround, or had to dig through the mess of theme files yourself. The full site editor does away with all that! And filtering for themes which are Gutenberg-ready, allow custom colors and free gets rid of a lot of possibilities! There's only like...66 or so right now that meet that criteria? It takes me a minute to pick the one that's closest to what I want (I usually select based on layout, since custom colors will allow me to easily change the color palette) and then go into the full site editor to customize from there. I'm using Livro for www.delilahwaan.com and Stewart for www.papertiger.productions at the moment. www.catlikestudio.com uses an older theme, the free version of Author Landing Page by Rara Theme. At some point I'll upgrade it to a Gutenberg-ready theme but since I already spent the time to customize it 😅 I'm leaving it as is for now.
