For those who don't know, one can have a nice "American" Breakfast in Bangkok for 150-200 Baht, possibly less. That 1 breakfast at Fran's could have paid for 3-4 breakfasts. Depending upon the location, you can get a nice condo/apartment beginning around 10,000 Baht. If you don't need big place and are OK with using the BTS into downtown areas, you can get a place to live for even less in the outlying areas. Not judging, just letting people know that one can live comfortably for far less than what she's spending...to each their own. 🙂.
Yup, it is just both ends of the spectrum. Cheap for road side stalls but slightly pricy for those restaurants in shop houses. Can easily burn away 400~450 baht on a crab pad kra pao dish at the Thai cultural center mrt area.
But i think view also plays an imp part in what you pay. I think thise pool view apartments are generally pricier than ither than have any apartment verandah adjacent to it. No ways it going to make a big diff but still just a thought if that could be a reason her apartments is a lil pricey?
OMG over 500baht for breakfast, in Cha Am we paid 350baht for one large freshly cooked fish, plus 8 large prawns with rice and salad for 2 people, right on the beach today!
Yes come and see for yourself, Hua Hin is a little further south and has a lot more westerners, all depends what you want. The beach goes on for miles, all the way to 🇲🇾 Malaysia. Both places have a number of condos, so many options! Cha Am is cheaper because mostly Thai visit from Bangkok!
i miss the pool at nonsi! relaxing at dusk. so many great memories living there 13 years ago, although i prefer my current place in sathorn. great vid!
challenge for ya if your bored, go to lak song station. I see 6:03 you’re at Tha Phra station and it’s kinda close to lak song. I live near there and I would appreciate it if you visited that area.
Wonderful perspective and ideal outlook! I have spent considerable time living in the Sukhumvit and Thong Lo districts. Interested in exploring the area you reside. If interested in being a guide (will compensate) let me know? Douglas
i think 20-25k Baht rental for that type of apartment is overkill, you could get luxury condos with modern facilities for half that price in better areas in Bkk. Just my 2 cents
It's a Western restaurant, that's why, you can get eggs type breakfast for $1 if you want. Thailand is great, you can eat as cheap or as expensive as you want.
Im 43 and already planning my 10+ year retirement. If I stay in the US I pay off my mortgage when im 70. If I sell my condo and everything else and retire to somewhere like Thailand then I can get out of the rat race and retire in my 50s. Live off my 401k/pension/condo and car sale and either buy 2-3 cheap condos or 1 nice condo until I can collect social security. Decisions decisions. Thank you for sharing and take care!!!
