Toronto is one of Canada's most expensive cities, but even I was surprised with just how much prices have gone up in the last couple of years. If you want to live downtown Toronto, you should expect to pay at least $2500 CAD for a one bedroom apartment on a long term lease and $3500+ if it is short term. Even just a room (like in my case) is going to be almost $2,000/month if you want a well rated airbnb in a good area.
