Some of the places we end up on the weekend total as much as you spent all day just for dinner! Just tax + tip can be as much as you spent on your whole dinner in the youkocho. Can't wait to go back to Japan!
Pro Tip: When buying a digital camera in Japan, make sure there's an option for English menu. Brands such as Canon, Nikon, and Sony have language options; however, some Panasonic and Fuji models don't. Most of the staff at Bic Camera or Yodobashi Camera is nice enough to change the menu to English for you.
Seerasan is such a bubbly and radiant person! She finds joy in all the little things in life. I want to start having a similar mindset to hers. Keep up the great content!
Thanks for the video! I've always enjoyed your day in the life(and the cost of going out) videos. Coincidentally, that DJI Pocket 3 camera is one that I’ve had my eye on, so I’m looking forward to seeing it used in a future video! I've gone through different cameras during my Japan trips: 2015 - DSLR(too bulky), 2017 - 360 camera(low resolution), 2018/2019 - small Sony camera(not as good for nighttime videos), 2022 - mirrorless+ gimbal (a bit too unwieldy). And the DJI Pocket 3 seems like it might handle all my previous issues 😅
I agree that shopping is stressful, for all the same reasons. 😅 Online shopping has made it easier/faster at least, even with the cons, but yeah, it you don't have money or a very tight budget, it's always stressful. 😅
Have you seen the film Perfect Days? It's about a Tokyo toilet cleaner and it's basically a tour of all the fancy loos, including that transparent one.
Awesome vlog of your weekend while showing how much things cost. Would definitely like to see more! Great recs for visitors to see and potentially experience.
Memory lane was a really cool spot! I did the all you can eat and drink at one of the yakitori places and it was so much fun! I miss Japan so much! It's been a year and a half and I still feel the pull to go back! I'm actually working on saving up money to buy a house out there so I can go when I want and not have to pay for a bunch of hotels. Much love from Arizona 💜💜
It is interesting to hear that you feel stress in shopping with the reasons understandable, but you look fun in the shopping walk probably because of being with a good friend.
Just got back from a 2 week trip in Japan (1st time there). Food was SO good and cheap! Had a 3 course fancy meal for 2,000 yen! Never walked so much in my life! (15,000-18,000) steps a day! My feet and legs are still recovering. One thing that I noticed, there are not many places to sit and rest (except for parks and a few seats waiting for trains). Had a great time and hope to go back soon! Thanks for all the great tips!
I've been considering that camera too. I hope you can show us a review. Maybe 2 or 3 clips without edit that we can download in order to check the quality in the video editor. P.S love your videos i really enjoy to know about Japan and your adventures 🤗🤗
I am Japanese. I understand very little English. But watching your videos, I can see that you understand Japanese culture and enjoy it. I can feel that you genuinely enjoy Japan. That makes me very happy😊
I have a DJI Pocket 2, and I highly recommend it. Looks like the Pocket 3 has improvements on top of it. I can't wait to see what videos you make with it!
New DJI camera looks tiny and handy to use! Nice to see famous Omoide Yokocho! 9461 yen is something like 55 euros. It sounds very typical weekend sum when I younger used to spend time with my friends in the city life.
Love the vid. The rental scooters are scary! I never use them: you have no idea when they were last repaired, if they've ever been in any accidents, if they are in need of repairs, if the wheels are still aligned, or how the breaks are holding up, and they can go at really fast speeds.
Congrats on pulling the trigger on the new camera! Looks like it'll be much lighter, as well as mentioned, more discreet. Every place people seem to have different reactions to having their image captured, even indirectly. Would love to see an episode on general etiquette in in Japan with regard to photography/videos in public areas. Seems like more YT creators are pixelating/blurring random people in their content more than they use to. With the Japanese being notoriously shy, it makes sense.
It was a grotesque, racist trash movie. Western women who can speak Japanese won't be isolated in Japan. Westerners who can't understand the abnormality of that movie are racists after all.
it's cool seeing so many familiar spots haha. i've been meaning to go to move cafe, but for their pudding because they're well known for it. also, the vegan cafe looks really good and reasonably priced. i really liked this video with alyssa
I wanted that camera as well! I hope they told you that it’s not water resistant…. Love your videos! I’m going to be in Shinjuku in about a month and am really looking forward to roaming around a bit.
Found your channel recently and really enjoy your content. Please keep sharing 😊. Had the pleasure of vistiting Japan in 2018 and really want to visit again! Love all your videos and hope to visit many of the places you have shared ❤
Aloha from Maui 🌈 Thank you for sharing your adventure. You two are having a lot of fun 😊I will be in Fukuoka for three weeks in June and July. Your inspiring me to just walk around and explore.
Alyssa, yaay... 😍 Very nice Tokyo-in-summer vibe, you can almost hear the cicadas. You didn't know about the Hanazono-jinja matsuri? tsk tsk, preparation, sister... 😁 Lucky coincidence then, it looked good. Thanks guys
If you go to Tokyo, I recommend you to eat ramen. Not popular ramen among tourists like Ichiran, Ippudo. I highly recommend Ramen Jiro. It’s really local shop. But you have to search how to eat before visiting. There are some rules.
It would be scary if there was a malfunction in the electronics of that public restroom and the glass becomes transparent while you're doing your business. And good purchase with the Osmo 3. Lots of improvements over Osmo 2 which I own. Good tiny stabilized 4K camera perfect for vlogging and creating high quality content for your channel. I would be interested to see the quality in low light situations though. What camera do you currently use for vlogging?
Thanks for sharing prices in Tokyo at the moment, I'm keen to see more spending breakdowns if you're happy to film/make them. Good luck with the new camera, glad that Japan is still cheaper than Australia for tech, I'll keep that in mind next time I visit.
That vegan place looks good. Ill have to see where exactly it is and check it out when Im there next. I almost bought the DJI Pocket Osmo 3 but bought the Insta360 instead. How is it?
Have to admit, I'm not one to go out for weekends like this so can't really compare with what it would've cost in Sweden, but the total ended up cheaper than I would've guessed considering how many places you stopped for food and drinks, and additional costs such as the karaoke. As for the camera, I've also been looking at the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for a while now. I have been using it's predecessor, the Pocket 2, for a couple of years and been seriously thinking about upgrading.
Thanks for the video! I am in Tokyo several times a month for work and just followed your trek to the same store to buy the same camera bundle. It is cheaper here and tax free sure helps make the decision easier. Love your channel and all the great advice! You make short work of finding fun things to do!
The reason Takoyaki has two skewers is that one skewer doesn't lift well, but two skewers can lift easily. It doesn't mean you should use them like chopsticks.🤣
Now I am 63 years old. so, when I was being thirty years old days, I was being at Omoide yokocho very often after my work finished. and there, I was talking with my colleagues our boss`s badmouthing very often at their Izakaya with smelling burning chiken. it was great memorny to me when I was thirty years days. because I was too young. and at there, not many foreign people were there in those days. this area was for company`s office worker`s their own privatry space. but now, at there , it has been changed to different feeling environment situation very much, but I think it is good. we are happy feeling very much , because many foreigner are getting to be understanding how they can get relax feeling.
ARIGATOOO for good delivering good movies in Japan. I was born and raised in Japan. Now I’ve been living in outside of Japan as a working holiday. That’s why this film makes me helpful to study English. And besides it’s very interesting to know how you spend time in my country. I hope you would keep delivering such a wonderful movie 🎥 🐙
LOVE THESE VLOGS!! You literally remind me of me when I was vlogging... ANYWAY! QuestionL When did you film this? As I was planning a trip in June but FREAKING out about HEAT & Humidity.... But it looked okay there!! Thanks! Sorry 4 caps
Seerasan, have realized how much you are rich. Also, so many info you sent us with happy vlogs. By the way, Alyssa need experience more how to eat Takoyaki.
The takoyaki is supposed to be picked up whole with one stick and eaten whole. Thank you for taking me through memory lane with all the places you went to.
When I lived in Tokyo, I probably spent about... 3000-4000 yen on a weekend? It depended on whether I was alone or had friends visit (because most of my friends lived outside Tokyo) but if solo, I probably spent that amount. But this is very much a me thing because I only ate one big meal a day and spend most of the time in parks, gardens or just walking around random neighbourhoods so I didn't really spend much money at all.
