Ok i tried...but why wouldnt you have rental or loss of work on your insurance in case of breakdown or a wreck? I have it. 30yr Pro tip: NEVER buy a totalled semi. Ever. You dont realize what DOT hoops you have to go thru to re-cert a truck. Its crazy. Soo expensive. You have to show them, and proove, before and after AND a double frame magnaflux. It cannot be not a glider if its totalled. Then Youll never insure it again once the S or R is on the title. Been there tried that. Jus sayin.
I’m going to look into loss of use insurance. I had thought about it about 6 months ago but didn’t do it. It’s not a common thing. My agent said that hardly anyone even asks about it. It’s fine though. I saved for winter. The frame is fine. It would have been just fine.
Hey now listen up here 10000 in a few. Repair, I've seen in your video. Something you may have not have noticed and believe me. I learned it the hard way your AC box dehumidifier heater box that bubbling paint there I. Bet you on both sides, you could stick your finger right through it, fix that now. To change thit's about $10000 worth of work, the dehumidifier for your AC and your heater core right there alone. Is like 4 grant to replace it. You're whole dashboard has to come oit's a difficult job. Fix that rust under that bubbling paint is rust
Wait till you get your next renewal it will go up big time or they won't renew your policy insurance companies are in business to make money not pay out
Dauminique, I hit 2 deer with my pickup truck the e statement was off it was 3000 + 1700 one head light side part the main head light side! (they sent a car for me & sign paper & pay 100 dollars of 4700 deer hit comp claim at dealer!) showed me parts that were not recondition & fixed & the chrome grill & one head light section the head light was broken in side too it took like 4 weeks to fix! did all that work & no grill guard! put on it sat in box! in a shipping box! the guy said take tow hooks out & the 2 mount parts were in the box & the mount holes are the tow hook bolt holes! make cheater holder of the welded bolt for the bush guard too a slot thing or thin long stick & paper tape! in a hour it was on at home by me!

But you can design pretty much anything you can image to customise your truck.I'm sorry you have gone through so much, as you know what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. if your insurer totaled it, would you be able to re-register it for commercial use? (maybe the rules are different stateside, but in Canada, insurance 'write-offs' CANNOT be re-registered, privately or otherwise - they can be 'parted out', or sold for scrap, but they can't be registered for on-road use)
It's good to know that you, are getting the truck sorted now. As you said it can be very difficult not being able to work, that has happened to me. How do you like the Sany they have lots of Sany in the UK as well.
Sounds like Bobby fell asleep from being overworked, I believe he works nights. Dauminique broke down once and refused to call him because he was asleep from working all night.
Hopefully he is okay but that much damage and especially on a private driveway he was speeding big time. I don't think he fell asleep because as a owner operator the last thing you don't want to do is to kill someone or yourself . Still waiting for the truth ??

A nice backup truck sitting without insurance until needed would be nice . Sorry to hear your truck had a boo boo. At least you wouldn't lose money doing nothing but costly for owning a spare truck.
Sounds like everything is working out better than expected with the insurance and finding the parts to repair the truck. You have a lot of connections and people you know to help get the truck fixed and back on the road. I would not doubt the people watching your videos are helping you out with finding the parts you need to fix it. Oh and maybe you can starting installing better camera mounts for taking the awesome videos while the truck is being repaired The trucking community is strong out there. We would not be doing what we do today without the trucks on the roads today. Cant wait to see you back out there doing what you love
I live in Milwaukee WI and I have 10 Peterbilt quad axel I got my first one in 1998 it was 130000 and the last one is a 2020 and it was 275000 and I have been lucky I have been in one accident I was parked and one of the other trucks one the job backed into me and it was 21000 to fix it don't let the insurance company talk you into after market parts they try to make me get a hood and lucky the body shop manager told the insurance company no because half the time they don't fit just don't take any shit for the insurance company hope to see it back on the road soon
Great news. The body shop will be getting a check but asking you to sign the back so they can cash it. Don't sign it and don't let him cash it for no reason. You pay once your satisfied with the job. If you do decide fixing it yourself pocketing the money. Its entirely on you there is no winning here. Your truck is going to be branded usually causing value go down. Whether the market will reflect that is not the point. Northwest has an unusual high retail for heavy dump trucks. FYI. I have been burned by body shops before. My two cents.

So what really happened for the driver to loose control on a private driveway ? Did the driver have a medical episode, mechanical problems or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. That is some serious damage and yes speed was a factor what did the police report say and was there any charges because I know where I live before you get hooked the police are calling in to investigate plus no reputable repair shop won't do any work until there is a police report and insurance quote. Hope the driver is okay.
Some people are not smart enough to know the insurance rates are totally different for heavy trucks than it is for regular vehicles. Parts cost a whole lot more for heavies as well. Equipment for heavies cost a lot more to buy then regular vehicles. And some just wanna start chit on other peoples channels.

That number seems reasonable considering the damage. Hopefully it won't be long before you're back making a living. I recently lost 7 weeks of work due to my son being hospitalized. My savings were totally wiped out. So I know the financial hardships of not being able to work. Fortunately, I'm back working, and my son is on the road to recovery. If you're going to let things get to your nerve and get frustrated you're in the wrong line of work especially if you need therapy. Therapy appointment down for you. Insurance companies do not give you a quote. They want to get away as cheaply as possible. You need to get an estimate from a qualified repair shop and leave it ope for supplements. You can do the repairs yourself if you choose. Just compensate the body shop for thier time. From what I see, there is more mechanical work than body work with the exception of that expensive hood. Look out for hidden damage and structural damage. I have repaired many trucks with that type of damage. Relatively minor in the grand scheme. I will tell you 100% that anyone that tries to get the correct repair from an insurance adjuster will lose every time. Good luck with it.
