So basically in 1:2 pulley, you can consider real weight equivalent to half plus friction depending on the condition of the pulley. In my case friction is 2.5 kg. So 40 kg is equal to 20+2.5 kg=22.5 kg. If you want to simplify that, you can just consider the half weight.
