Solar panels are neither green nor renewable. Cutting down trees (which sequester carbon AND convert CO2 to O2) with a 240 acre solar farm is a horrible idea. Better to let the trees do their job.

What is the lifespan of those panels? Does it exceed the 15 years it will take to pay them off? Also, what happens when, after ten years or so, one has to replace roof tiles? What is one has a leak on the roof due to the install some time after the panels are put in? Just the questions I always have about this subject. Solar is something I will do in the future, but I am not clear on some of these items. Especially considering that I may sell and move in 10 years, after the kids are out and in their own life journeys.

They approached me at Home Depot wanting to come to give me an estimate - I got busy and read reviews of these things and this co in particular that came to Home Depot ( sun something ) and found out they’re a scam and to avoid them. I still haven’t found another place to come out and I won’t. Also especially in Houston where I live , solar panels are prohibited by hoa . My husband made a good point and that’s that in Houston it rains a lot, so with no sun you’re out of power. It’s a bad idea

First, not all HOAs prohibit them, that is a pretty broad statement. Second, solar is not a scam. If you watch the video the woman tells you, her power will was 300-400 and now it’s less than 50 bucks. Third, with rain or clouds, the solar output is reduced. With heavy rain, they will not produce because the sun is blocked. That said, it doesn’t rain 12 hours a day. Solar is a great idea. Try Tesla or Enphase.

A lil rain wont stop panels from producing they will still produce. Your husband doesn’t rly know what going on. They are mesnt to withstand hail etc etc.

You will only be with no power if the grid shuts down for example like how the 2020 texas winter came and there was no power if you had solar panels with a powerwall, keep that inmind a Powerwall/Battery they are obviously more expensive but youd still have power one the grid falls

The Texas Solar Rights Act, specifically House Bill 362, prevents HOAs from denying solar panel installations outright.

That’s essentially how it’s supposed to go. Did you think them panels/material is free? Did you think they magically gave u free panels and you wouldn’t have to pay anything? This isnt a snickers bar mate. You pay it off thats why its better for a younger person to do it rather than a 60yr old doing it. Think Bro Think

@@Acculthe the point is they won't really tell you that. They try to make it seem like you won't pay much if anything and that you'll end up coming out ahead fairly quickly. I'm reality, it'll take you 15-20 years to break even, if everything goes as planned (you don't move, nothing breaks, etc). For most, solar isn't worth it unless you just really want to go green.

Its pretty obvious that solar is meant for younger generation and or parents or guardians who will be leaving their home to their kids or wtv. And getting solar is the equivalent of paying you electric bill. If you pay $300 now to the electric company why complain that your solar is the exact same payment of $300 a month for 15yrs. On one hand you have $300 monthly payment for electricity for life never changes The other hand you have $300 monthly payment for 15 yrs then. $25 monthly payment from 15yr- death.

You see reports all the time for an old couple who wear told something that wasn't true. These comments are more for those types of people so they can be aware.

Yeah it’s all good until it’s time to sell your house. Most people don’t want to take on a previous owner payments or don’t want solar at all and I can’t blame them because I’ve had a horror story with a solar company myself. Selling my home was a nightmare. Also the salesman forgot to leave out a detail. If you lease you get none of those benefits like a check or credits that the government supposedly give you. Also it did not help much with my energy bill and I stay in Arizona. You have been warned

$20,000 and up to install $5000 worth of equipment. No cost solar leases require you to give the company easement rights to your roof that stays with the house even if you sell. The buyer has to “qualify” and renew the lease for 25 years. The plan I was presented with locked in my electric payments at $220 a month with a 3% increase per year meaning over the 25 years I would have to pay $85,000 for my electricity and not have ownership of the panels or equipment. For the same system and equipment in a DIY kit would cost $5000 and would replace my electricity with a break even 100% free electricity in 5-7 years. As an owner I would be responsible for the maintenance and repairs.

I hate sales reps with drones they are cringy and barely get measurements correctly, then we get sent out with terrible measurements and have to deal with design to fix it. Like just get on the first floor roof atleast. Mad lazy then again ig thats why they work sales

Looks like it's gonna cost money for the illusion of saving money, but in reality the money you're "saving" on electricity bills is only allocated to paying for the solar panels. 😂

Whatever you save on your electric bill you are paying the difference in the monthly payment to the solar company you bought the stuff from. If you paid for it all at once, then no worries. I believe there are only 3 companies in Texas that will offer the buy back. Ask yourself how long will it take to have a return on investment? What happens in a tornado, hurricane, etc.. Are the replacement panels free? What happens when you have to re-do your roof, who installs it and removes the panels? It's not as simple as it sounds.

Bro what? Let me answer those questions for you since it’s actually extremely simple. 1. What happens during natural events( the company fixes said damage at no extra cost. Why well theres a thing called warranty) 2. What happens when you have to redo your roof( for starters let the company know in advance youll be replacing your roof, some companies will actually replace the whole roof for you and take down said equipment) all same company… 3. Who installs and removes them (Literally the company you bought your panels from)

If I'm going to buy a home and it has solar panels. The solar panels must come off and the roof has to be re-inspected. If you have hail damage to your roof and you also had solar panels installed well now welcome to a living hell an actual nightmare from the pits of hell. If you have a hurricane and it pulls some of the Rooftop but most of the roof is intact however you're still going to need some minor repairs and you got solar panel to the way well welcome to hell

So much BS. Solar panels require exotic metals to produce and the production of solar panels alone is very detrimental to the environment and requires fossil fuels to produce. The batteries involved in solar panels systems are made from metals you can't just dispose of in a landfill. Nothing about solar panels is good for the environment. Plus many solar panels only last 10 years and need replacing which is the hook. Some solar panels will last 25 years, but are proportionately more expensive to install. The whole thing is just a con game.

Solar panels last from 5 yrs to 15 yrs and that solely depends on what quality you get Another words before you’re done paying it off it’s already time to replace them Also the Great Reset requires all homes to be green which means if you can’t afford to do it then the government pays and now they own your house You will own Nothing and be Happy 🤬

No. Solar panels have a longer warranty than that, some are 25 years.
