12:20 the people who work the events mainly are local card shop judges for pokemon tournaments.. but they build a resume over the season by judging or volunteering at big events like regionals.. typically they get good promos but mainly do it out of passion.
Previously, judges were paid in tcg products and received some travel and food accommodations. They “volunteered” in that they were not paid money, but they were compensated. Starting this competitive year, they are paid money for their time. I do not recall if they are paid in the currency of the country the tournament is hosted in, or if it’s always USD.
Yeah many players or people don’t really know how much work judges do to keep this tournaments going! Am for little to nothing it is all about the experience!
@@eddyvega5501 yess same definitely was nice but I can understand why he went the way he did views are way better but he just need to post atleast once a week or every other week
Hahaha man we got really cheap in this day and day I remember ( while I was a Judge) VS which was a marvel/DC TCG game from back in the 2000’s it was paying like $5000 on top 8 am like around 10-15 to the winner! Good times! Also I would like to clarify that in the beginning there was no big tournaments like today! Everything started at your local Toy R’ Us store am Wizard Of The Cost stores!!!! It was not until Yu-Gi-Oh started going hard on Pokemon by doing reginals am staff that Pokemon or a company affiliated to Wizards did the Super Trainer Showdown! They did 4-5 of them one took place in Hawaii! After they so how good it when am the Tabasco with Wizards lol it became what it is now! Kids learn your history! Lol
@@sarabande__ if there one thing I can say it’s easier to be a pro player now than it was back in earlier generations cause the internet was not that advanced and Pokémon showdown is a valuable resource for those who want to know the math of stat changes. But that’s the problem so many people can become that good so having the right genetics can give someone an edge over someone who needs hours of practice.
not gunna lie that prize pool is kind of a joke for how much money TPCI makes. compare that to any other big gaming thing or even chess and it's like 1/10th the prizes or less
The guy who got 2nd for Pokémon go, sold his card immediately right after the match apparently for an undisclosed amount. But said “for a lot of money”
@@Squidmoto3 you know I thought that at first until I played it and watched the competitive play. It is a way watered down version of a MOBA but there are some good players and the strategy is still there.
@@punkeroc i've played plenty of it and I've played thousands of hours of league and dota 2. the difference is immeasurably large. yes there is *some* strategy, but there is for pogo too.
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Mrs Linda Westley ) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her from Zagreb Croatia 🇭🇷 .
