About me:
I am a wife, mom and CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist). I went to nursing school to get my ADN, started working and then went back for my BSN. I was a travel nurse for 2 years before starting CRNA school. I loved travel nursing so much but I also love anesthesia so I went back to school to become a CRNA. Fitness is a huge part of my life. I've competed in powerlifting and Crossfit. We are vegan because we are both huge animal lovers. We are also foster parents (awaiting the adoption of our daughter)!

TAX EDUCATION ALERT! Remember, what you pay in taxes through your paycheck is a guesstimate. This is why when you file at the end of the year some get a tax refund while others owe taxes. Your goal should be to OWE money. Yes, that's right. If you receive a large refund, that was money that was already yours that you let the government hang onto all year, interest-free. Rhianna and I will pay our fair share in taxes as our refund days are long gone. We are okay with paying it back at the end of the year and not during as we believe we are better stewards of our money than the government.

I love your videos and how transparent you are. You’ve probably done a video about CRNA vs. an anesthesiologist and the different roles, responsibilities, and that kind of stuff. One video that I haven’t been able to find is a career outlook video. That might not make sense but I mean as in earning potential and lifetime earnings. Similar to the Graham Stephan video he does of lifetime earnings of a plumber vs. doctor. Something like that would be really cool. I say this because I’m very interested in being a CRNA and anesthesiologist. I see benefits and drawbacks in both but it’s kind of hard for me to choose between the two. Also, once you become a CRNA what kind of progression is there within the role itself? Love your videos

So do you feel that the CRNA path is worth it if you were older? I am 41 and will be finished with my accelerated BSN program in December 2022. I plan on hopefully moving straight into ICU and then CRNA program as soon as I can. But that also puts me finishing in likely my late 40’s. I have other student loans, but my BSN program is super affordable so won’t add much debt if any. I also have my MBA in healthcare administration but didn’t really like the business side after all. Assuming things go semi as planned, would you still pursue your CRNA if you were me? Just curious what your opinion is. Thanks!

I’m 35 and am starting my BSN program in January. Will be graduating in May 2024. My plan is the same as you, ICU then into CRNA school. I do still have loans from my first degree and will have more after nursing school. So we will see how everything goes. I’m hoping that shooting high keeps me motivated and focused.

Great videos. There is no such thing as free healthcare, even if provided by the government. Even if the government does pay it doesn’t mean that it is quality care. Lastly, the only way to do universal healthcare is to force all healthcare providers to accept government insurance. Even in the places where healthcare is “free” people wait for needed care, or they get supplemental insurance that they pay for so they don’t have to wait

You have not seen Canadian healthcare where it is "free" but you would be heartbroken as a nurse that they can't get the care that is promptly needed . I worked for 10 years in a nurs buing home in British Columbia . Often than not, I get calls for the schedule of the MRI (doctors suspecting tumors) like 8 to 9 months out. My elderly patients have died before they can even get a procedure, I know of someone who has severe abdominal pain and her ultrasound schedule was 9 months out. Her and her husband decided to pay out of pocket 800 dollars for a private ultrasound. Found out she has stomach cancer. If she had waited for her 9 month schedule, she wouldn't have started her chemo right away or her surgery to remove the tumor growing in her belly. True, it is good to not break the bank when we have to go to the hospital like here in the US, but definitely I don't want the centralize healthcare of Canada. Paid high taxes over there that there is always a shortage of healthcare staff bec nobody wants to work overtime bec of high tax brackets. Also, it is so centralized that they won't even give you the options for your care. Example I wanted to do only removal of stonesfor my gallbladder, surgeon refused to do so, it has to be ALL gallbladder bec they changed the protocols. He said that usually patients come back after 2 years. In short, government wants to save money... The surgeon was wrong. I never had surgery and I did an alternative route from good functional medicine here in the US. THe US hospital and healthcare system do need an overhaul. TRANSPARENCY in pricing is what is important and doing away the insurance middleman. DEFINITELY do not go the socialist route, the quality of healthcare in the US will deteriorate. Moving here, I was impressed how fast patients can get their surgery scheduled ! A friend in Canada waited for 3 years to have her knee surgery done. And it is even semi-successful as she is still in constant pain.

How about a video on how much you made on RU-vid?

So amazing, roughly (*very roughly) in CA for that income the tax amount would be around 33k or a 76k take home. Mind boggling the difference in tax rate, glad you get to hold on to that hard earned paycheck! As always great videos, no matter the topic consistently informative & easy to watch

I worked it California for a year and definitely noticed the higher taxes but I would go back because I loved it so much!

I just started my first nursing job in the CVICU I was wondering if your other platform can educate/discuss how I pay off my crazy student loan debt and how I could make that work with future crna school loan? I pay for everything myself now that I have a real job but I’m not sure how I would pay bills plus school and student loan etc while wanting to pursue crna 🙁

Hi! Congratulations on starting your first nursing job 🥳 Yes that is one of the main topics we address! We have a whole section dedicated to student loans and do livestream classes on budgeting, debt payoff, etc. You can get personalized advice about your situation from us anytime on the platform.

You're one of the only people I can enjoy their videos, while totally disagreeing with their political views lol I think you have a good heart behind what your views are and so do I. We just disagree:) thank you for the information! I'm starting nursing prerequisites this month!

umm even if we taxed every household that earned over 200k at 100% we could not afford universal healthcare.... meh nice to know u care about people, but a basic economics discussion is for another venue not here.
