I recently opened an ABA account. The only thing I needed was a six months visa....there was no requirement on how much money I had to put into the account.

We also have online accounts with Charles Schwab for an emergency fund and they usually credit the ATM fees back to your account. Sharing is caring and life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Cheers 🍷
Hiya! Do you fly right into Siem Reap, or into PPvand then take Giant Ibis or something else? We are coming this summer and arent sure if people usually split up the trip with a night or two in PP. We are coming from Minneapolis. Thanks!
It's up to you if you want to check out Phnom Penh. There are lots of cool things to see, but I flew from there to Siem Reap right away last time around. Now there's a new international airport near Siem Reap (SAI) that you can fly to directly if you like. If you want to check out PP first, you can fly with Cambodia Angkor Air to SR after or take the Giant Ibis, but the bus is a 6-hour trip. I do plan to check out PP after I've been back in SR for a few months.
Nice video. I would also consider having a spare phone and more than one bank accounts in your home country so if you lose yours, it doesn't wreck your life. Think ahead for possible problems you may encounter, and try and plan. I see so many people bumbling about and its painful. Thanks for sharing Bill.
Yup, I'm keeping one phone for my American number and getting a new one once I arrive for the Cambodian number. The bank account is pretty solid, but I've been thinking about getting a Charles Schwab one as well because everyone raves about it. I hope you're doing well!
Hi Bill. I am now in Siem reap and I went to Ana bank this morning and they said I will only need my passeport with a visa of 6 months or more, 100 Sudanese that’s all. No lease contract but I suppose it’s because a French passeport
Thank you, very useful! When you open a bank account is it in USD or Riel? I’m planning to stay two weeks in a hotel, to walk around a few areas before renting. I have a small dog, so finding an apartment might take a bit more time.
Since you're there...appreciate your thoughts: I'm 61, healthy, not much of a drinker, vegetarian, looking to settle in PP. Is 2200 USD enough for simple life n some dating? Thanks@@cambodiyeah1
I know it probably depends on the person, but on average, how long do you think it usually takes to land a teaching job? I plan on coming with a few month's worth of money to last me until I find work but I definitely don't want to wait until the very last minute to land a job and I run out of money before I get my first paycheck lol. I definitely want to spend the 1st month or so settling in before beginning to apply. Thanks!
I'm not an expert on teaching jobs, but if you're in Phnom Penh, there are more opportunities and you could likely find a job within a month or so. Siem Reap may take longer. You'd want to head out to a few schools each day with your CV/resume with a passport-sized photo of your face attached to each one.
