Once I turned 18 in 2009 my sister and I opened a savings account to move out. We were VERY serious about moving(toxic household). In May 2018 we finally moved out (kicking and screaming 🙄). At signing we had $25K. Lmao. Nothing motivates saving a ton of money like a toxic upbringing 🥴🥴🥴
Ok $25k at 18 is impressive!!! I hate that it had to be bc of a rough situation but I feel that. And you’re right, i kept telling myself I was saving up for my new “freedom” lol
That's true, my parents r not toxic but somehow I'm stuck with relatives which are throwing fit for 3rd time. Literally lectured me y i shouldn't move out for 45 mins(1st time). And now telling their kids to convince me to stay. Idk y... but I'm going 😒😒
Yesss! I’d love that. I’m currently saving and just “window” searching apartments. It’s hard to do a estimate on utilities when you literally don’t know.
I’m 18 and planning to save up to 30k so that I can move out by the time I’m 20. I’m tired of being around my toxic members and feel as though they drained enough life out of me before it even started. This is what’s best for me because I’ll be in control of my diet, and where I’m at. I’m a homebody but don’t enjoy being in the house 24/7. I’ve barely been to malls and don’t do many activities as I’m at a disadvantage for now, but soon I hope to do even the littlest things I’ve wanted in life- like going to the park or skating rink :)
So so helpful! I’m 18 Planning on moving out by the end of next year or the beginning of 2023. Definitely taking advantage of living with my parents while studying. I will definitely take this all into consideration!
I taught my kids about personal finance at a very young age, Both 14 & 15 now respectively and are making above $2k passively. If the younger generation can take their mind off the social media the can learn to make more money and earn freedom!
@@jakobmeyer191 Here's a way 1. Focus on your career 2. Learn a skill and start a side hustle (it can be passion driven) 3. Learn to save 4. Invest (its a proven way to get richer)
Do most landlords not require security deposit, first and last months rent? Isn't this why you would likely want to have at least three times the rent prior to moving in so you can afford the rent. Granted, you'd already have paid the security deposit because it is kinda like a downpayment, so the landlord knows you're going to be renting this place out. So now you have the remaining 1K for other things you forgot you needed, such as she listed in the video.
Ty for this. I’m 16, 17 next month, and am a senior in high school. I’m trying to move out as quickly as possible. hopefully not long after my 18th birthday. Toxic house hold. Anyways, ty for this video I like the more relaxed vibe rather than the super serious videos made by hard core financial geniuses 😭
This just boosted everything for me gotta get busy with my own space my mom toxic always arguing with me a cause I’m the oldest ig but I’m 18 and got a job but leaving soon it’s too much and my lil brother act on and off like he just weird asl for some reason ion wanna fight with my siblings nomore it was bad beating them up felt bad they always talk reckless go the oldest and ik my strength they don’t have even how old they turn I will always be the strongest cause I workout more and they just taller lol , but the household is just too much now when your mom tell you she don’t want you here and call you a bitch it’s real , she hate me cause i look like my dad and he left her with 3 kids so I don’t know why she take it out on me just me , but im not scared always tell her when she not right no matter what but my bothers don’t even tell me wassup when I come home never talk to me on a regular so I feel like really I’m not welcomed things changed over the years but start to be my brothers don’t really talk to them and it’s like every lil thing I say it’s faces been made like ion wanna act up so I do best and walk away 💯 but gotta move out soon #mambamentality
Great video and ppl also for get they need food for the house seasoning/groceries ,pots, towels, detergent, you may need a house phone all that Ik I’m thinking about all that for sure bc like you said you don’t want to put your self in a loop that’s defeating the purpose of moving out
I’m moving out in 4-5 months and I don’t have any money for it!! 😬 I’m trying to take out $100 in cash each paycheck for gas until my next paycheck and my mom takes out $300 every other paycheck for my car payment. I hope this helps me save more.
I’d say save up for a car first then get your apartment, that’ll be less stressful knowing if you didn’t get your apartment and needed a place to stay you could probably live out in your car, IF you need to leave your environment ASAP ! I did this and honestly I don’t regret anything 🥰
Retiring at any age can be challenging. Still, they're certain steps to take when approaching retirement age. I was convinced by my late husband to seek a financial expert which I did, just recently acquired a 3 bedroom apt in Toronto for $650,460
@@silviaerling382 I'm good ok, my financial expert's name is Robert Johnson, he's a life saver, I was at a point not losing my mind because of the depression of owing alot debt, but then I did as he ask and now I'm making $8000 on average a week.
I've read that you should have saved up at least 3-6 months worth of rent+other expenses. Plus you should make like two-three times the amount of the rent. As said in the video
@@ItsShanonMaglente I mean how do you set them up in your name? and when should you have them turned on before you move in or after? Sorry for all the questions lol.
@@officialkonscious8102 water was set up for me as it’s included in my rent, but I had to contact PSEG for gas. This might help! www.moving.com/tips/how-to-set-up-utilities-in-your-new-home/
Stupid question I'm 26 and finally hopefully going to be moving out of my parents house as I'm of the age where I need to be an adult should I have my girlfriend come live with me or should I move in by myself? I should say I'm on SSI due to Disability will that screw me from getting an apartment I've looked everywhere and found squat as to what the answer is
Hi, thanks for your question and congrats! Moving in with your significant other is a huge step, and an incredibly important discussion to have between the two of you. It depends on whether or not you’re (both) ready for that next step
I live in northern nj! I have to say that my rate is much better than some of my friends’, partly because I’m a little further from NYC and also I might have snagged a good deal during COVID
@Millennial Smark I have 3x the rent and additional savings but I’m moving out of state. I don’t have a job secured yet so I’m nervous about how I will rebuild my savings all while spending it on bills and the new state transition costs like DMV plates and stuff.
@Millennial Smark Interesting suggestion. Obviously I’m sure this does not include reserving a moving truck for a move under 1,000 miles and less than a full bedroom to move.
