Two wheeler also has to do: 1. Designing 2. Prototype building 3. Testing 4. Sourcing from Vendors 5. Set up new assembly line 6. Hire / manage workforce ( huge when compared to electronics) 7. Marketing and launch 8. After sales service
@@the.lifeofram I'm from automotive background working in mechatronic products like ECU (mech+ele+ software).. i do worked in OEMs too On comparing semiconductor industry with automotive industry, automotive companies spend amount in R and D than chip industry. Most it will shared by material, R and D, production, marketing so this sharing, Mechanical engineer will get less salary, not major changes in next versions and automotive margin is less. In semiconductor industry, electrical and software engineer are are so costly. They have to spend more in R and D. But in mechanical nearly significant amount to spend in material and manufacturing which is equal to R and D effort as I said earlier. In electronic chips, no bulk money spend in material, they pay for R and D. Why software engineer gets high salary means they spending much less money in material and money. Material for chip is very low nearly in grams. So software and electronics engineer took that money so they got huge salary. Hope u got it..this is what the same explained in video too...

R&D costs are huge in CPU. Also TMSC's semiconductor fab units need tens of billions of dollars in initial investment itself. Making CPU is insanely expensive. I personally think it's totally worth the money. India is still trying for companies like TMSC and Foxconn to setup semiconductor fab units in India, but it's very demanding. Even for a conglomerate like TATA, it's very hard to start a fab unit without the technology support of TMSC, Foxconn etc..It's not like a typical manufacturing setup. One fab plant could contribute nearly 10-20 billion dollars to GDP. Hope Tamilnadu soon gets one of these fab units. Will be a great push to the economy.

Bro There is big R/D team working on single bike to make shure it's reliable and fuel efficiency . I agree a chip has more use case when compared to bike but most of the people buy them out of excitement (games) and not for real use. Spending lacks of rupees just to game is utter waste just like buying sports bike.
The technology used in Activa is very old only due to emission norms they add some new things. Honda flagship product like fireblade will have latest technology in that they too will charge for technology more than the actual matter. What will be the price of this processor after 10 yrs? That's the amount of technological gap between these two products. Anyhow the video is nice and informative especially the second half.
I agree with all your points. However, you underestimate the immense R&D going on to the development of the Automobile sector. There are so many things involved in the process like; meet the constantly updating regulations which includes safety, environment etc.; Ride Handling and Comfort (Noise, Vibration and Harshness); Reliability and Durability and so on. And the same will be reflected in R&D costs in terms of infrastructure which include but not restricted to Workstations (you need to render solved results), CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM Software license, HPC Servers for CAE simulations, Testing labs(many). Unfortunately, the R&D engineers at Automobile Sector are not remunerated fairly like their IT counterparts and that may also be a reason for the overall lesser R&D cost of the Automotive Sector.

And every field R&D exists in the automobile field you simply said if we they give halogen next time change it to LED it's not that simple they have to analyze market conditions and customer requirements because they have more competitors rather not like ryzen and it's one single adversary intel.
