When you are looking to dial your water in for your yar, to see if you are getting good converse and it’s adequate in input, the best way to do this this to cup test…. No not that cup test…. Which sports players might rejoice, but a cup test to test for water coverage.
What we are doing:
1- Get shallow basin, straight sided containers or the pro cups below (10-20 seem adequate for moving zone to zone, but allowing cups to stay in double covered zones till all run for that area).
2- Place them in your yard, in dry spots and good spots, to get a good look at over all coverage.
3- Run the Zone or zones that cover those cup areas. 10 min makes it easy then your counting in 10min increments. Look at how the sprinklers are covering, and patterns, see if you see issues.
4- After the zone or zones that hit the area have all ran, collect the cups noting how many inches deep (1/8, 1/4, 1/2” etc) they are taking most note of the shallowest one.
5- Fix the sprinkler coverage, by dealing the sprinkler heads in, further, closer, opening up pattern, fixing overspray… etc. we are trying to
Get the coverage even every where or we have to water to the weak spot, or if push comes to shove we spot water weekly for that area and water to the others.
