We wanted to know just how much weight you could reasonably pack out on an e-Bike. We loaded a Bakcou Mule down with sand bags, and took it down a few different trails. We found that the bike alone was capable of handling over 100lbs of cargo (if secured properly). We attached a trailer, and were able to pull 185lbs of cargo. We did find that the trailer was limited to less technical trails, and the bike and trailer were difficult to control with that much weight. However, if you had to get out in one trip, it's definitely an option!

Great review and thorough demo!Friendly piece of advice for riding fat tire bikes in Arizona desert terrain (sand, rocks, cactus): Air down to 7-10psi (trailer, too). No bounce, less worry about picking your line, just float. Put Tannus Armour liners in there, and you won’t get cactus flats either

Thanks for the comment and suggestion! Do you feel that airing down to 7-10psi (trailer, too) would sustain the weights being transported in this film? We admittedly did not verify the tire air pressures prior or after this film. Really good mention there, thank you. - Forest

Technical trails not sure if you had your seat lowered down but it really helps on that type trail

I believe Quietkat had the walk assist mode which would really help out in some of these situations.

Thanks for the comment and suggestion! The BAKCOU too has the walk assist mode. We admit that we were not entirely familiar with its usage at the time of this film, but then again we imagine there are quite a few others like us who would simply "hop on and send it". Appreciate ya!

Great review fellas. I wonder if the results would have been better with a two-wheel trailer? I know the trails may have not allowed it. Still, awesome applications when you know how/where to use an e-bike.

Hi Craig. We very much agree. Each of the (2) two-wheel trailers from BAKCOU offer a 150-200# load capacity, which is significantly higher than the 90# load capacity of their single-wheel trailer. Not only do they offer additional load carrying capacity, but they also offer added stability. If the trail permits their usage, these e-Bikes are incredible. - Forest

I agree. The single wheel looks nice, but you have proven how unstable it can become with heavy weight & rough terrain. Have used my 2 wheel trailer (20x 4 tires) for 5 years of year hunting over hills, rocks & dry and wet conditions. Air on trailer set at 6 to 8. Trailer will bounce with lite or no cargo, & flip at times I’ve uneven terrain but never caused bike to lay down. Loaded with whole deer slow and steady works best. Thanks for the review.

I had a quietkat apex 1000 with the two wheel cart, it hauled a full white tail plus me (190 lbs) like it was nothing. Also put my 260lb dad on the cart and pulled him around but you could feel it.

any chance you guys can do a review for the best "non hunting" branded eBike? Seems like hunting branded bikes are so much more expensive than the non hunting branded.

Thanks for the question! The increased cost of a hunting-branded eBike is likely due to the higher quality components (i.e. drive motors, rim strength, quality of battery even perhaps to name a few). Even within the spectrum of a hunting-branded eBike there is a vast spread with concern to cost, which is also due to the components themselves and sometimes suspension complexity. Perhaps we could look at doing a review of various "entry level" hunting-branded eBikes, and we certainly will consider it, but a non-hunting eBike simply wouldn't cut it in the backcountry. Hi Paul. What you hear in the video is a fair representation of the electric motor when in use under a heavy load, and with minimal pedaling being applied by the rider. - Forest
