how much i made in my first year of being monetized, how long it took me to get monetized, and how much youtube paid me with 20K subscribers! today i am telling you what you need to know and talking my month by month strategy, discussing RPM and CPM, and seeing how i grew my channel in my first year being monetized.
i am breaking down my analytics and showing the growth of my channel in 2022!
when i first created my channel i constantly asked: how much do small youtubers make? how much do you make in your first month? 6 months? year? how do they grow? so now that i am starting to figure out the answers, i thought i would share what i have learned!
i love these videos and thought i would make one myself sharing my growth journey on youtube. all the time i wish i knew when my favorite creators got monetized, how they grew, and when they hit certain milestones, so i thought i would create a video highlighting that for myself.

I love this. I started my channel and got monetized overnight. Literally. I did a live show and woke up to 5k subs. My first month I made $3,700. But doing true crime was rough. The trolls and drama pushed me away in just a couple of months and I stopped posting. I wish I kept going and just ignored it all. Great channel and I wish you all the best. Keep going!

IJUST caught up with you tonight. I have a small paper-crafting channel that started in 2020. Literally, it has taken me 2 years to monetize, but that was not essentially my goal. It was in the back of my mind but it really started out "just for fun" and to share my "maddness." Last year it started occurring to me that if I could monetize my channel, I could possibly support my craft through the channel. I'm still learning the ropes here and ultimately I STILL do this for the love of it. If I earn "paper" money, all the better. Thank you for sharing! First of all, thank you for your honesty and sharing your $ numbers. Many channels are very vague with dollar amounts so it's hard to get the real picture. I loved all the stats! Secondly, I for one, do watch less videos in the summer. It's just a busier time and you want to be outdoors. The same is true for the hustle and bustle of December. I find during those times I pick and choose the shorter channels to watch. (I don't have 45-60 minutes to watch content.) Congratulations on your first successful monetized year. I'm happy for you.

Upload frequency does seem to coincide with fast growth. Once you snag your niche audience it’s important to feed them steady content. The most successful creators like Shelby Church don’t even try to edit their own videos. So you create loads of great content and your editor packages it. Fortunately you can find editors online very affordably. But times change and even Shelby is seeing a YT drop off. It’s crucial now to be on TikTok too.

So to be fully transparent this is the first video I have ever seen of yours and I just discovered your channel. I love the transparency in all of this and how you broke everything down, as a new content creator myself and just starting my own RU-vid channel recently, this was great to see and very informative.
