In this video, ….How My Early Childhood Shapes My Life, …Nanny expresses her gratitude and appreciation to all you wonderful friends for addressing her questions and expressing your opinions on their channel….and it seems you like us just the way we are and what we’re doing! Śo they have taken a chance and decided to begin with the topic of what makes Nanny “tick” and how all her life experiences and role models have and still are affecting her (and their) life and inspiring her to live the best life that she can possibly do..We hope you will enjoy her stories as she and Moose are so renewed with your great input and forge ahead. The next video will begin with Moose and Nanny becoming engaged and they will both talk about marriage, children, places they lived , travels and a life together for many years before retirement and a whole new challenge.. Thank you all once again for the encouragement and support❤️❤️

First of all Nanny, it is we, your viewers, who are blessed to have you and Moose in our lives. You teach us about so many things. I have always said that it is our past that defines who we are today. Even something that happened yesterday could influence the rest of our lives. I was raised to be a good girl. A “little lady” then a “young lady”. The rules that my mother taught me still ring in my ears. I can relate to what you said since I was married in 1960. Things were so very different back then. A wife usually looked to her husband as the head of the family. I envy your large family. That is what I wanted however God ultimately blessed us with two children. I never smoked. My parents smoked heavily and as a result my father suffered from emphysema. I enjoy a glass of wine once in a while, my husband never smoked or drank. I am the person who celebrated every little occasion. I loved holidays and special occasions. What a romantic proposal. You both made the right choice. Do you have old photos from each of your families that you could share? Yes Nanny, everyone IS interested in your channel. We love to see the variety of topics that you bring to us. By the way, your winter white sweater is beautiful. I love the popcorn stitch detailing. I am looking forward to the continuation of your story. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

Omgosh! I’m recalling my parents smoking in car. We children were in the back seat begging for open windows because the smoke was so thick! Parents responded with: “… it’s winter! We’ve got the car heater on… we can’t let the heat out!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ This was crazy, & parents quit smoking eventually for health reasons. Thanking God so often because my parents were the very best parents; so generous with few resources. We were loved & I miss them so much! Nostalgia!🦋💕☕️

Wonderful video, Mary Ellen, I'm a 77 yr. old born into a Roman Catholic family with 12 yrs. of Catholic Schooling and didn't dare to miss behave either at home or in school. We have a lot in common. Don't you think that that's the way it was back then? Please continue with your story. You're not going down the rabbit hole. Until the next episode, stay well.

Just give us your authentic self...as you are. You do not have to be a makeup artist, hair stylist, wardrobe stylist....just you and Moose. You seem to have had incredibly unusual and interesting and meaningful lives. So your memories and wisdom are so refreshing and welcome. Love you both.

You know Nanny, you are a perfect example of how important it is for children to grow up in the right atmosphere with both parents, and the right kind of training about everything. It saddens me to see all the children that don't get to have a balanced, loving, attentive, creative and disciplined family. And another thing I think, if you are going to have children, have more than one. Only children that I know all say they have missed out on life in a lot of ways because they had no siblings. Thanks so much for sharing all your videos with us. I wish I could have had a teacher like you when I was in school.

I so enjoyed hearing your life story. So much is familiar … I, too, was raised in an Irish catholic family. When your mom sent you to talk to your priest about your desire to marry Moose, I had to giggle. Back then, the priest’s input carried a lot of weight. Thank goodness Father gave his blessing! ☘️❤️☘️

Listening to you is like hearing my Mother in law, God bless her. I miss her so, so much. She had nine children. I married number eight and the baby boy! My father in law was a tail gunner in WW2 and was shot down three times, taken prisoner twice. He was a soft spoken, prayerful Nd hard working man. They were a big Catholic family and although I wasn’t Catholic, she was always available to answer any questions I ever had and so two years after we married, I became a Catholic too. I love my faith and I credit my in laws for sharing their strong faith and firm roots with me. Can’t tell you what a consolation and strength it has been in my life as a wife and a mother and now a grandmother!

So nice to hear your story which has many similarities to ours. So sad to see how today’s young people are so confused and afraid of marriage and long term commitments. Human nature hasn’t changed. We still need the same comfort of a solid family. Our country needs this too.

Watching you and Moose and hearing your stories really helps to calm my spirit, so thank you for sharing yourselves with us.

I couldn’t think of a thing for you to change. I always look forward to watching you. Your up bringing is so similar to mine. Family was so important growing up. Sundays were spent going to church and visiting grandparents. Like you my brother and I went to weddings as well as funerals with our parents. It was just part of life. I was fortunate to have my one grandmother live in the city and was a business owner. My other grandparents lived on a farm in the country outside of Philadelphia. The nice thing was I got to experience both city and country life growing up. Such wonderful memories. The hardest thing now at my age (I just turned 70 on the 29th of December) is missing everyone because they have all passed on. And, yes I like you from your very first video. Thank you for being you and your kindness. Please take care.. All the best to you and Moose. ❤️

Mary Ellen, this was very interesting! It is amazing to me how at a very young age you knew exactly the kind of life you wanted! I loved hearing that you were a bit of a "renegade" in that you always listened to yourself and your own wisdom. "To thine own self be true" was a great motto then - and now! Will look forward to more stories. Dont ever think for a minute we don't want to hear them!

Thank you for sharing your lives with us, Nanny. It sounds like the quintessential American life of the 1940's and 1950's. My husband and I are in our mid-70's. We, too, have had many benefits of growing up in that period of time. We are both third generation Japanese-Americans. Our parents were teenagers/young adults during the WWII internment camps. They also sought the American dream life as did our grandparents. Our generation was blessed with hard-working parents who pushed us to excel in our school work. My husband became a community college administrator and I taught in secondary schools. Our two sons also completed graduate schools and are now married with children of their own. In this season of retirement, it is good to look back and see the blessings, benefits, and challenges of our lives. It gives understanding, perspective, and, most importantly, appreciation of our lives and life in general. We are thankful for how God has worked in our family. It’s not perfect…but good. With Gratitude from Ventura County…

Your story is so interesting, Charlene…and it’s such a huge part of our country’s history..especially of your parents’ internment. I always have so admired the strong work ethics of many of my Asian-American friends and of our oldest son’s wife ..Bonnie..from the Philippines…whose grandpa was Japanese. When I was teaching , I was always amazed by the Asian-American parents of many of my students who put the educational support of their children on such a high pedestal. Thank you for sharing, Charlene.. Hugs, nanny😘💕❤️

Hello, Sarah… We are more alike than you could imagine! When I was your age, I adored an 85 year old woman who lived alone down the road from us in a 100 year old farmhouse with a big barn out in the back… I would walk down to visit her some mornings and she and I would sit in her kitchen around a pot-bellied stove that warmed the room. Her stories fascinated me and I have never forgotten them nor the wisdom that came with the stories….age gaps mean nothing between women who have similar interests and aspirations. Thanks for being here, Sarah! 😘big hugs and love, Nanny💕😘❤️

That certainly shaped your healthy choices and made you who you are. Thank you for sharing. I didn't detect any rabbit holes. They're all in my life, I'm afraid. 😉 Just one small example: I quit smoking at 20 when I got pregnant. I asked my hubby at the time if he'd quit drinking and smoking along with me. He said no. I was basically on my own raising two children - three if you count hubby.🤐🤐

Nanny at the end you mentioned gratitude and I think that is the key. Do you know while I was only born in 1967 when Doris Day was almost wrapping up her showbiz career- I discovered her and she is my idol and [to me] Doris Day was everything that is fabulous about America. The look, the voice, the spunk, the attitude , the positivity, the kindness, the talent... all of it, and you have that too Nanny and above all Doris Day said ''gratitude is riches, complaint is poverty" and she said in an interview you can't truly complain and at the same time be grateful - learn to appreciate the little things, we all have so much to be grateful for. So Nanny your videos are [for me] pure joy and positivity and getting things done, and choosing to stay and be relevant and be fabulous. So anyhow Nanny - I have to start work but i had to say all of this to you -hope it is not too much of a ramble. Stay fabulous colleen- Jas x

Absolutely loved this!! Reminded me so much if my family! My parents, who are deceased now, were married in 1956. They were married 50 years the month before my mother died suddenly. She was like you! She gave up her career when I was born and stayed home with me and my brother. My father was from up north and my mother was a southerner. She always let my father think he was the leader of the family but my mother always managed to have her wishes known and many times he changed direction as a result of her subtle influence! I was 41 when she passed, and I never heard them have a cross word in my presence. They discussed any differences privately and got back to us. More often than not, my father’s decision had definitely been tempered! Thank you for being so open and blessings to you both!❤️

I have always said good girls win in the end! I have my opinions too! I have been known to say” my parents didn’t raise a mushroom”. If you love me respect my thoughts and opinions as I will yours. …..p.s. married 51 happy years!

This was one of my favorite videos.I feel your appeal is your sincerity and your wisdom, sharing wisdom is timeless. We have very different family backgrounds I was an orphan and lived in many foster homes. I was fortunate enough to have a good religious background. Like you I was a good girl and always obeyed the rules. At this stage of my life I have raised four children, I have ten grands and three great grands. All the children are successful. I never finished college but I worked for a doctor for 46 years and enjoyed a good life. I was divorced after ten years due to abuse. I went on to remarry and I still am at 82. I came from New England and now just moved permanently to Naples. It’s been a wonderful life considering were I started from. Even though are journeys were different we still have similar experiences. Thank you for sharing 💕

I was just telling another friend, Patricia, that I love hearing stories like yours…of women who did not have all the advantages of happy childhoods …..but have built beautiful lives because of their own courage, Survival skills, Choices and strength… you are the real heroes of life, Patricia… and I so admire you. Thanks for sharing your story…love and big hugs, Nanny😘💕❤️

Loved hearing about your growing up years. I can see how my rebellious nature as a kid definitely affected my life & made it much harder. But it all comes together for all of us regardless and hopefully we learn from it all. Looking forward to the next installment...❤

Hi Nanny, haven't checked in for awhile, but wanted to let you know how much hope and joy you bring to me. I am 72 and have felt pretty despairing these past months. I had 5 falls that were impartial to my health, up til then I had been pretty proud of my good health. My mom was paralyzed after 4 strokes, and being an only child, I took care of her for 6 yrs, plus raised my 4 kids as a basically single mom. I swore I would never do that to my kids, but now I am so very afraid of becoming a burden to them. I feel like I am falling apart lately. I t comforts me !it's than I can say to hear your words of enccouragement, I feel like I have a person who really shares some of the same issues and fears that I do. Thanks so much. From Judy B in Michigan

Oh, Judy…I am so sorry your falls have sent you into a downslide…I have taken some bad falls, too, and TG, have not seriously injured myself…Moose’s falls have been a lot worse. BUT Iam much more cautious now and more aware of my age… please know that you are strong…put your mental strength to work and overcome these physical setbacks…you have helped so many…your children, your mom…now do it for YOU! Love and hugs, 🙏😘💕❤️

I loved hearing about your beautiful life. It is so important to be raised with love from a great set of parents who always showed you and your brothers the way to live with love and respect for each other and the world around you always putting God first. The rest fell into place. Thank you for sharing, excited to hear the rest.🥰

Loved every moment! …. Can’t wait to hear more. I graduated high school in 1964 so I recognized the eras your life’s journey covered. I was not blessed with engaged parents, so I had a different life and the gift of a long life is that wisdom comes if one gets what was missed in childhood as an adult, it compensates. It took me longer to find who I am in this world, but I did it! I learn a lot from every video you do - your introspection is wonderful. You ARE a great teacher, still. Can’t wait to hear more❣️Patricia

I relate so much to your life experiences. From my life in the 40’s until now. Baltimore Catechism in Massachusetts, teaching my many younger siblings, college life, social work and then becoming a teacher, marriage, kids and now getting old together. I was considered a free spirit by my peers and an independent thinker. Sometimes rough for the old man. We are close to giving up traveling which may be rough for a free spirit. Judy.

Now I see your name, Judy…yes we seem to be soul sisters with very similar life experiences and backgrounds….I do miss the traveling, though…❤️

Hello Nanny, Just viewed this for the first time. I just loved listening to you recounting your wonderful upbringing and family, You are a very special lady with so many talents. No doubt your upbringing played a very important role in helping to stear you in the right direction And your mom sounds like a wonderful person who fortunately could stay home and be the best a mom could be for her children and who did take the time to teach and be with you, And also your fahter sounds like he too was a good father and husband. That is so important for the well being of the children. And your Moose -Bill- also seems to have come from a good and decent family. These things make the difference in shaping and molding the children. And from this, one can see the continuation you and Bill have brought to your own children and now their own children.Good values make a big difference in so many ways . I appreciate you and your videos, they are good examples to see and hear about and also bringing hope and teach by example good ideas in making the best of life.🍃 God Bless! 🍃🌹🍃

Just love it.I'm seriously considering starting a RU-vid channel, i"ve downloaded quite a few " how to's" but i would love it ,if you would do a few videos on how you started, maybe a few tips? Love you and Moosie, continued blessings dear lady❤

You described rules...norms if we dare say...and people respected you for them. In all of the old photos of you and Moose, I thought you had a beautiful figure - throughout your life and now. Your Dad was the principal - what a sweet dad. It's always amazing to me when people know from a very young age what their vocation will be in life...a born teacher. You have so much wisdom to share...I'm listening w/gratitude. This was such a nice video! Your makeup and winter white beret look so great, too. Would love to hear about the beginning of your love of antiques and your own business...thx xo
