What a clickbait. Rather than talking about the loss of the capsule that the title tricked me to watch, they end up talking about the hatch they missed.
If NASA and Kris Craft at the time didn't think Gus Grissom had what it took they wouldn't have let him command Gemini 3 and be the commander on Apollo 1 in which unfortunately he, Ed White and Roger Chaffee lost their lives in a dry launch practice session in 1967 i believe. Also involving an electrical short (in a wire harness) and a pure oxygen environmental system at 15 psi. Godspeed Gus!
It was good to see you here in Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks ! Even though you didn't get a Monster Catfish , you should have went below the Bagnell Damn ! Thats where the Hugh Flatheads are !!
Gus Grissom did get out, but due to the loss of the spacecraft he faced criticism, some suggesting he had panic attack and blew the hatch himself. Sadly, Grissom would later die, along with two other astronauts, in part due to a faulty hatch, "Before Apollo 1's planned launch on February 21, 1967, the Command Module interior caught fire and burned on January 27, 1967, during a pre-launch test on Launch Pad 34 at Cape Kennedy. Astronauts Grissom, White, and Chaffee, who were working inside the closed Command Module, were asphyxiated. The fire's ignition source was never determined, but their deaths were attributed to a wide range of lethal hazards in the early CSM design and conditions of the test, including a pressurized 100 percent oxygen prelaunch atmosphere, wiring and plumbing flaws, flammable materials used in the cockpit and in the astronauts' flight suits, and an INWARD OPENING HATCH that could not be opened quickly in an emergency and not at all with full internal pressure."
Thanks so much for uploading. I got the opporunity to witness a rocket launch in 2018. Incredible experience. I posted a pretty solid video of the experience to my channel.
NASA first called Jeremy wade to retrieve the capsule using his teeth but had change plan as they didn't want bite marks on it. He uses electric eels to power his home. Rides around on a stingray. Sharks are terrified of Jeremy so should chuck Norris be. LEGEND !!!
yeah rubbish . . . sure there may have been arcing. Isn't there always with a chopper! But lb7 is covered in water, its so well grounded any static will flow straight into the sea.
