Tracy McGrady once said he was at a basketball camp as a kid and he had the number 392. He thought it was his ranking. He wore a different number after that.
I think the story of kobe's 8 jersey was the team New Jersey Nets that was supposed to pick him with the 8th pick but Jerry West called his parents, and then 24 was the Lakers pick in that draft 24.. So if you guys wonder why Kobe wasn't picked by other teams is because of Jerry West
So I'm never gonna play basketball, but, when I was a floor hockey goaltender I wore the number 55. See originally I wanted the number 10, but they told me that goalies had numbers 50+. So my six year old mind thought and thought and I realized "Hey! Ten is two fives!" So bam I chose 55!
MJ wore 23 because he wanted to be at least half as good as his older brother Larry who wore 45 in high school. Ersan İlyasova wore 7 for a part of his career because of Toni Kukoc.
You didn’t add the reason why Jordan chose #23 because originally Jordan wanted #45 but his brother reserved that number so he had to go #23 because it is divided in half this being 23. Also when he came out of retirement, he picked the number #45 as you seen him wearing coming back from retirement.
Was friends with these 2 brothers. They played football together on the same team and the Older brothers number was 24 and the Younger brothers number was 7 and the Older brother passed away after graduating highschool, the Younger brother took his brothers number after that and that number got retired after the Younger brother graduated.
