Fun cast Tyler! Thank you so much for it! 1) Agreed. Boosters are a tradition at ND, and like The Walk, TD Jesus, or the (sadly missing) State Trooper Safety Tips jokes at halftime, they neither, for-granted nor lightly, should be taken. Based on the University's decision to do so, we can compete in this or most of the scenarios that are likely to come to pass. Considering ignorance is our strongest power about future eventualities, its a bit early to decide the final trumpets have been sounded. 2) I have also never been to College Station. I don't think I will make that game- even though I probably could. Its going to be hotter than hades, and I have to be in San Antonio (which I really like) that weekend. I would rather be in the pool watching it on TV. If we win, I will then take a walk with one of my sons who will be there along the River Walk and smoke a Churchill... :: I lived on ND campus or the immediate surrounds for 5 years as a student, and while the people are generally kind, the city was pretty ugly back then, and is still uh... - just not that interesting as a place to go... A hundred years ago last week, if we had been on campus we would have gone downtown to go into battle with the KKK members driving into town to the local hooded-clown office, misdirecting arrivees, stealing their robes, and apparently throwing potatoes through their office window at their red-lit cross. magazine.nd.edu/stories/the-clash-with-the-klan/ . A healthy dose of humor is usually best when talking about most US municipalities, or ourselves. Thanks for reminding us!

It's not about if they are "deserving" Tyler. The issue is that until now, football totally funded all other sports, and even other student life projects on campus. Also, employee status is a problem for every school. Also, keeping our athletes as true students is CORE to the mission.

I'm getting into the Big10 yesterday to cover this payment due to past athletes before they start offering just partial revenue shares to new member schools instead of a full share.

The future of who is in or out with respect to at large selection, has more to do with how odds makers would set up matchups than how many wins you have, or how strong your schedule was. I guess I could argue it's already that way now because of the TCU blowout, and there is no turning back.

Assuming it's $20 million per year to all the athletes at ND, there's over 900 athletes there in D1 athletics. I doubt it's shared evenly between sports, but it's ~$20k per year per athlete pretax, (assuming it's income). That's, relative to a living wage, not including the other benefits of being an athlete at ND, not that much money. Not enough to really complain about athletes getting paid at least.

Myself I am for All for the players getting paid they fund a multi billion dollar industry. No players no game no money. Athletes and fans watching the Tv money numbers getting thrown around can understand the players value. I also think the fans should have to invest more to today’s CF experience. If you doubled the price of tickets to all sports events with the doubled half going to an athletic fund and give them the lions share of all athletic licensing jerseys, hats ,tees ect.. what about parking? It’s the fans coming to see the players. There has to be some money for every athlete to get a share.

When someone it's solely the players generate the money i can't help but laugh. It's actually the brand that generates the money, if these schools only had mid sized unathletic suburbanites playing, they would continue to sell out. It's about history, rivalries, geographical culture and pride. A vast majority of fans in the stands on a given Saturday couldn't name ten players on the team. The player narrative is intellectually dishonest.

No chance ND makes the playoffs at 10-2, 12-0 should be very doable. Need that 5 seed💯

What the f*ck are you talking about???? First off you flippantly talk about “ND can afford this”, completely disregarding the fact that there is absolutely no connection between studying and professional sports at this level. Any school worth its weight should NOT be in the business of paying athletes. Get out! Then raise the question of firing Marcus Freeman if he does not make the playoffs this year??? He is the best coach in football.

ND will always make the playoff with 2 or less losses. They will sometimes make it with 3 losses depending how many teams have 2 or less
