The New Orleans Saints, Klint Kubiak and Alvin Kamara were shut down in the run game by the Philadelphia Eagles. We break down what the Eagles did to stop the run, how the Saints tried to adjust and how Philly responded to make things tough. Not having a run game made things tougher on Derek Carr and the team's passing game as well.

Shaheed definitely needs to come up big on a couple of those plays, but saints lost in the trenches Moreau got handled blocking the edge and the interior lineman just plain got whooped. Pressures and batted balls the whole game. There’s a lot of talent on that defensive front let’s just hope McCoy returns soon and we can get this run game rolling again. I just knew Carr would do something crazy that last drive. A minute left with one TO, didn’t have to risk it all so soon

I believe this game ultimately was a chess match between the Eagles coaches and the Saints coaches and in my opinion, the Eagles coaches won the chess match in the key situational spots of the game.

Truth is..a lot of people are blaming the defense, but they were tired. They got a int, fumble, stopped them on 3 fourth downs, and had 4 sacks. That's a good stat line. I just wished they would work on miracle catch and run plays in the 4th quarter lol

I'm blaming the entire team offense,, defense, coaching....mostly on Klint who lost the chess match with Fangio..DA calling a lame play that cost us the game. Man defense where they knocked each other around and watched Goedert take it to the house, almost. Also Front office for lack of OL depth. Philly had injuries too. OL, AJ et al ..injuires never an excuse

Was it the defense that dbs ran into each other and blow coverage on a 3rd and 16 with min 30 left? As horrible as we played on both sides of the ball all we had to do was make a stop game over. 2 more plays!!! Same bull shit with the no call you can blame the refs but we stoped nobody when we need a stop!!!! The defense could stop nobody its there fault!!!!!

With Klint Kubiak's scheme, it just seems like when the run game is taken away everything falls flat. The game is all about adjustments and sometimes you just have to lean more on the passing game and it just seemed like there was no way to do that because the run was totally shutdown.. Which to me doesn't look good because sometimes you're not gonna have one or the other and you need to have contingency plans for that.. Atlanta looks really good, they were very close to beating KC last night, so next game is gonna be another dawg fight plus they have a vendetta from the last game of last season when we ran up the score on them lol.. On a side note, CJGJ was yapping alot after the game, it's clear his feelings are still hurt!!

I hear you, but I felt it took them too long to adjust to the defensive scheme being. They seemed to make adjustments in the 4th that worked, but from 3rd play of the game till the 4th qtr to figure out something that worked is to slow.

Klint knew the oline was shitty and still decided to run on 3rd and 4th downs. Quick passes could have change that game. Klint definitely gets some of the blame with the play calling

Saints got beat by a team that tried their best to give it away smh .. Saints could have easily gotten blown out by FGs that they passed up on .. Yea we lost our center and Taysom Hill... But eagles had more crucial injuries than us! No AJ Brown, Their #2 wr got knocked out and their starting tackle was too sick to play... So yea its definitely concerning

Ruiz got beat all day by Carter. I said Oduo was an issue. He had his moments but he played a lot better than Ruiz. Prentice had some busted plays but some of those were because Ruiz was getting blown up. Mouroe had a rough day too. He got absolutely blown up on the fourth and one play to start the 4th. The entire left side got beat on Carr’s last pick. He was throwing that ball with two guys hitting him in the chest. Perhaps we may want to find some to cover the TE on D. Although the last big play to him was read correctly but lattimore and Hiwden ran into each other. I mis step by one of those two away from being 3-0.

Play calling gives opportunities. There were lots of missed opportunities. Ergo the play-calling was not bad. Ross also thinks the short passes could have been used MORE. They were used… just not as much as Ross would have.

The Eagles O line suffered injuries but the backups came in and gave Hurts a very clean pocket. The same cannot be said about the Saints backup for the Center position. No push in the interior run game nor adequate pass pro to allow Carr normal time to throw. With a good O line, we have seen how good the Saints offense can be. Health will be the issue going forward.

Their backups had a whole week of prep. Our backups though they do play did not prep for those roles. Preparation is so so so so so big for o line. It's literally everything. Timing and trust and knowing where guys are going to be is what makes an o line good. That's the difference let alone your guy making most of the calls besides the qb goes out in our center.

The Saints will be just fine. They have an outstanding football team. They still lead the league in points( 103 points by 18🔥) and top 5 defensively, 2nd in take aways. This team will continue to excel rather critics and fans believe or not. The eye test don't lie, they came up short against the eagles and that's alright, a 3 point loss to a disparate struggling Eagles team with an inconsistent turn over prone QB, Eagles aren't going anywhere this year. there's 14 more games to play. The NFC South is still there for the taking!!!

The O-line got dominated. ESPECIALLY Ruiz!! He has been the weakest link on the O-line next to Penning. Penning is still bad, but they just mask it with the scheme. Next season, draft a left guard, right guard, and a right tackle(?). The middle of the O-line needs help badly. Better yet McCoy needs better help to the right and left of him. As far as playcalling is concerned, i think they needed more motion and more quick passes to get the d-line to back up off the rush. And by all means, get the points. Dont leave points on the field on 4th down. Get the 3.

The success rate doubled whe we ran the ball too the left.. simply amazing how we didn’t take advantage of these guys bringing 6 lineman downfield. We didn’t run any boot action or any screen plays. lol yeah it was most definitely play calling you said it yourself. Klint DID NOT adjust to Fangio's scheme.. He was beat by their DC plain and simple..lost the chess match. Plus why didn't Carr have audibles for that scheme. It's totally all on Poor coaching...DA's going for it instead of taking the points...calling an idiot play on 3rd and 16. I mean Siriani was making more mistakes trying to give the game away and we still BLEW it.

Ross, what about the last meaningful play being an empty back formation after there has been pressure up the middle all game? Or the fact that our quarterback threw a hailmary pass with 55 seconds and a timeout left on 2nd and 5 cause he felt that a sack “kills us” at that point in the game? Teams are watching tapes on the SAINTS. they prepared for the run. SAINTS lost the center and lost TAYSOM 30 runs for 90 yards. Avg. 3 25 passes for 150 yards. Avg. 6 No challenge in the first half Not going for the field goal either PENNING stull week. Dropped balls Defense was great until the last minute. Carr was not being asked to do much until he was needed and he got the team up by a major with 2 minutes remaining. Our TE couldn’t block and their TE put up 170 yards. It ain’t Carr and it ain’t Kamara. They should dress that hippie TE from the preseason.

3rd and short yardage and you do some split QB wide and direct snap 8 yards deep. This is why you have a fullback on your roster. Foster missed so many blocks I stopped counting. This was a game that THill was born to play in. But TEs FB and Jamal are here to grind these games and they couldn’t get it done. Heal up Tysom.

They line that many men in the box you match it if we aint succeeding. Change it around, play chess not checkers.. and why tf not put dallin holker in bruh tell me why thats a big body and seem like he would be a great TE and have the strength to help the line because foster was getting his butt whipped man like give some of these boys a chance like throw perry in match what they doing man. Hill allows saints to run 2 backs or 2 TEs or 3 WRS. So they can have 3 formations w 1 guy

I think not taking the FG on 4th down and also not trying one of those two long FGs we had cost us. I think one was like 57 yards. We were on the 40 I believe. Also, can't fault the guy because he's always a stud for us, but Shaheed needed to catch that TD

A few middle of the field/short routes were knocked down at the line of scrimmage…but we def didn’t attempt many screens to RBs or quick ones to WRs to stretch that 6-1 front 7 out.

Thanks Ross for acknowledging the true reason we played so poorly! Most fans don’t realize that McCoy going down was the biggest reason we couldn’t get the offense untracked! The center not only touches the ball every play, but he calls out the blocking scheme! I’m sure even if Patrick practice a few snaps each week, he doesn’t have the responsibility of calling blocking schemes! That’s why the d-line stunts were so effective! We will be fine. A full week of practice calling the schemes is totally different than just being thrust into the situation! I also would like to add that this game is reflective of the reason Carr is not considered a GREAT QB! Don’t get ahead of me cause you’d be wrong. Carr, throughout his whole career, has lost games in this manner! Everyone knows that he has more come from behind victories than anyone else in the last decade. What they aren’t aware of is, all the times he’s led and scored game winning drives in the last 2min, only for the defense to give up a scoring drive afterwards!!!
