How NOT TO PLAY ANNO 1800!! - Disaster Save Series

As someone new to this game, the main reasons I can think of someone having all those weapons factories going is it unlocks, you see it there available to be built and you feel like you have to build it. You don't really think about "Do I actually need this right now?" until you get more experienced with the game. And the other issue is, if this player was like me, you go to the anno wiki to see the production chains and those calculations and try to replicate them without thinking of the costs and necessity. This was my issue for a good while. The Anno wiki says the ideal weapons factory production chain is 2 furnaces and 6 weapons factories. For canned goods its 8 cattle farms, 8 pepper farms, 8 artisinal kitchens and 6 canneries. I can see players not realizing that you don't really need to build the whole optimal chain to supply 200 artisans or something. In regular city builders, a lot of people have the mentality of "something unlocked, must build it". Then the wiki tells you to build this thing optimally, you should have this giant production chain. Its something to learn via experience.

Really great content. Fun to listen to as I play anno. I personally prefer the shorter bits of content, but I see value in both.

I love this type of content! I’ve had some real disaster saves and I tend to panic when I get to Engineers so this gives me tips on what not to do 😂

41:15 Shift+left mouse drag will let you copy the fields/animal pens, as well as any roads under the selection; toggling it to blueprint mode works on that as well. You can build those highly optimized production chain or city layout blocks exactly once and can then plonk down whole production chains in a few seconds in the wohle world sector. HIGHLY useful.

This save reminds of my first game :D so I totally understand 6x heavy machinery :D now I just rush investors to get wine, then heavily overproducing it and shut down everything else and via dockland import all the needs -> (1st Island = investors, 2nd island artisans + engineers, 3rd island farmers+workers + few support island to get stuff like oil or something)

When copying farms, if you hold shift and click the main building it will copy the fields as well. This works for both crop and animal farms.

I started a co op session with my friend. I left her to get on with the new world while I did old world. Then when I needed more new world stuff I kicked her to the Arctic to start that off. Whilst I appreciated her starting things off there were certainly some “wtf” moments. Now I’m on to sorting out the Arctic and it’s houses and production buildings littered all over the place. Heater buildings next to each other… But I’m pretty sure if I sent the save in someone else would pull apart my own decisions 😅

Three Power plants next to each other and mass-producing weapons with no enemies may be bad, but having Critically-Acclaimed Tragedian next to a variety theatre in a mainly farmer/worker neighborhood is what really got to me.

As a new player this is MUCH more helpful than tips and tricks on what TO do if you believe it

I imagine the zoo with only a bear was probably a naive response to the quest that pops up in artisan tier to build a zoo and put a bear in it.

Oh dear lord! 24:46 Pause on this time and lets play a little game i call "spot the fire stations" I think i can se 16 fire stations and 9 of them are covering 4 heavy industry buildings. 5 of them are places around 2 sewing machine factorys a building that litterly cant blow up. 35:36 yeah he noticed it aswell. While the housing area looks horrible i fully understand why it does and unless u are VERY good at planing out your housing area (University, Bank, Train rail etc) from the start odds are it´s gonna look like a big maze once u get into Investors. Even worse if u are new to the game or dont know the general size of some of the bigger public buildings. Having Crown Falls DLC makes it so obvious how hard the game can be when u cant properly plan out your public buildings inside the housing layout. Unless u constantly wanna move houses around just try your best to unlock engineers maybe investors if u wanna plan that far. Then build up a decent supply of consumer goods and a big supply of construction materials. Now turn everything off and scrap the entire housing area and redesign it in blueprint mode to make sure that everything fits. Especially that goddamn train rail. If u have Crown Falls DLC just unlock engineers/investors and then abandon the Old World for now untill u have a blueprinted design u like on Crown Falls. I like to think i am a fairly good Anno1800 player but when comparing the Old world housing area to the blueprinted Crown Falls design i look like i have less then 10 hours in the game. Having to move houses around all the time will make everything look like a giant mess in the end.

When I need an emergency injection of cash (eg to avoid bankruptcy) I sell shares to the Queen. Only a very short term solution, but better than selling off useful assets.

I bought the game yesterday. Tried to launch it with no success. I have Windows 11 and my PC is two years old with everything else running on ultra. What the f? Skyrim has stopped working too. I have tried everything. *sigh

@22:40: why not have used the warships you was going to sell off to also sell soap or whatever stuff we had leftover?

These are good.... I don't follow why this would be rage inducing but it's an interesting series.

Like you say, I'd bet they got bored of the save and scrambled it, then set it on a crisis course, handed it over to you at the last minute to see if you could fix it. Great gameplay though!

Anno 2205 wasnt bad but like you said just changed to much. In the wrong direction in my opinion. It did do several good things. Like the buildings add-ons(Atleast the idea not so much the execution), Multiple regions with each their own focus and the change they did to how buildings influenced other buildings(instead of a range you could only influence with slotting items. Now you could also change their range with roads). Now for some of the things i didnt like. Combat never really liked it in anno but that was mainly because of dumb ai(way to many wars in anno1404 for me that where because of me dealing with problems on my island but the ai also having a harbor there seeing it as me attacking them) They just made it worse in a way since you kinda had to do it for the add-ons(later i learned of the mobile game you could play to get more resources that way) Good transportation(this for me was mainly a problem early on in playthroughs but the fact that it was 1 ship one good was anoying for how expensive they where. I mean what container ship only moves on type of good.) Honestly would love seeing them redo anno 2205, 2070 and 1404 in the 1800 way(just not so dlc heavy :P) I really wonder what they would do next with anno. Mechanic wise cant really think of much they could really change to improve it. Only thing would be a very different are that would force those mechanics.

I mean I would do it myself to send fudge up save on purpuse just to see another video :) So if you take it this way people making half the content for you xD

What is your monitor? You always move your head to look on the map etc? Is anno on 4k even possible? What graphics card you have?

It's incredible how messy some people are. Watching how they play a game and cannot help but wonder about their house, must be a total mess, with stuff piled from floor to ceilling, and three months of dirty dishes. Now imagine the cat's litter box...

Bright harvest and the way the animal farms work now made me realize that gaming companies are truly grimy. Their business model is make a game... And tweak enough things to people feel okay about paying for the same game with a new or different function... That they most likely held off putting in from the beginning because they can then charge you for it. Genius really.

Messing with production without looking at trade routes? Very... unique way to save a game.
