I have mowed helping my dad who did this as a second income since I was 12/13, now am 48. I have mowed as a second job since 2010. End of 2021 I jumped and left my factory job that I worked since 2008. This is my third year full time, last year and 22 I kept my prices what I did as a second job. Told everyone during fall cleanup especially the 2 week clients that prices were going up this year. Only one client said they weren't using my service this year. I said thanks for your business but if you come back that it's weekly service only. All new clients are weekly only and I'm working my way of being weekly only. Have watched you since 2014, keep up the good work.

This video title could be re-titled as "How NOT to Start Any Business in 2024". As a business owner in the Information Technology space, everything you stated can be used in virtually any business. I personally liked the last one, "Don't compete on being the cheapest provider." This is what I call "The couch on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign" Most people will cruise on by as they think it has zero value (heck, you already stated it has none). Now if you put that same couch with a $5 sign by it, I guarantee at least someone will stop and try to haggle with you about the price. Basically, if you already assign a low value for your work/product/service/etc., so will your customers. - btw, love your videos

I used a grass trimmer for long periods of time. You definitely don’t want to edge upside down will create too wide an edge will be slower/ look rough. Take blade edger once per month along edges then angle trim them. Ten times faster looks better less tripping hazard. This is why they make blade edgers to go straight up and down if you were to cut a commercial property you would be there all day edging.

I agree 100%. Especially the really cheap guy, it drives down profit for everyone and you get what you pay for. If people are going to do a quality service, they need to charge appropriately. Also, the I do everything, guy. You can't be the best at everything, so just focus on one or two services and be the best. Most people want quality work, and if they are a customer that are super cheap, they are probably a customer you don't want anyway. Don't be desperate. ALL businesses take time to grow.

I lost a really good client because the tenant was a huge pain in the ass. Rubbed me the wrong ways for a couple weeks, but I got back at it.

Does your program about starting a weed control and feet company discuss or go over the permits or license requirements and cost associated with start up costs and legal requirements? I’m in north Alabama for reference,

I seem to be seeing a trend in the lawn cutting business.people seem to be cutting lawns and pricing the cuts at the same price they were 15 yrs ago?Im not seeing the cost of living and inflationary pricing going up according to the economic times.I'm seeing stagnation, and guys afraid to bump pricing.Am I wrong here,or what am I missing?
