How NOT to strip old paint from brick walls

I used the same product on my exterior brick. Applied it over the latex water based paint! Without placing clear plastic over it! left it on over for 18 hrs. It did a great job removing the latex paint but not the oil base paint underneath. Then I applied a the gel it over the OB paint waited 3 hrs only removed 1 layer of oil base paint that’s remaining. It’s 1/32” of an inch thick! Washed it off with my hose to remove the excess strong smelling Gel! Also used a razor blade to remove a tiny bit of the OB (Oil Base Paint) and the gel. I’m going to apply the gel a 3rd time over the OB paint. My expectations are very low that all only remove a thin layer 1/128” of oil based paint and I’m gonna have to resort to probably sandblasting it.

I will never figure out why people paint over brick, especially fireplaces...It's ugly...my entire outside of my house and fireplace has to be stipped.....house flippers did this mess. It is hideous.

Thanks for this video. It was very informative. I am a painter and have a job where I have to remove paint from exterior brick. So, I researched and bought peel away. It's currently on a small section of wall as a test and 48 hours is almost up. What are your thoughts on the peel away product?

If the paint is that old, it was likely lead paint, right? Might need additional safety measures

What if your brick isn't flat?

You’re suppose to power wash the paint off….that gets in the brick pores and the mortar. I don’t know why you though peeling off the plastic was just going to take alllllll the paint off.

That stuff sucks you need peel away 7 works many layers you get what you pay for and this kid can’t talk too many fumes I think 🤔 and you need wire wheel and wire brush … amd this kid should go back to doing what ever he was doing before this bricks 🧱 just not for him
