Why would someone with a gun continue to the metal detector rather than turn around and walk a few blocks to another subway entrance? This is just for show.

I really could care less about metal detectors. How about better subway service. How bout running the “F” and “M” trains more than every three hours.

They’re trying everything when the only thing is gonna work is just hiring cops who aren’t lazy and actually do their job, have cops at every station and tell them to not use their phones or chit chat with other cops

This is just expensive security theater. There’s no difference between the subway and the streets. Make the streets safer and the subways will follow

There are small train stations 🚉 that people may enter with any weapons specially in the Bronx . Good idea to keep public protected but useless in other areas .

The politicians are trying to make New Yorkers feel safer instead of fighting gun crime. If Adams had a spine, he would hire more cops, detectives, and prosecutors. Collaborate with the Feds on investigation of gangs and organized crime involved in firearms trafficking. Tell the DAs of the 5 boroughs to prioritize prosecuting crimes involving illegal firearms and seek stiffer penalties for convictions.

Unless you can put it at every station, it's not going to work, it's a.waste of money. Criminals will just walk to another station to get on. I guess Adams just want it to look like he's doing a good job!!!!!!

This is hilarious. They already do random bag checks at that station. Now they are paying for a whole machine to do random scans to tell them if they should check someone's bag. This is simple corruption.

Yeah this is great if it's in every single station it should be on buses too but you can't detect crazy with these detectors there's a lot of drug addicts and violent and mentally unstable people who are the problem and there is no machine that is able to detect that and it's crazy because if you work it's best to work first shift but if you work evening shift you're kind of on your own and trying to defend yourself is almost impossible because you can get arrested for defending yourself and I wouldn't be surprised if these weapon detectors are only going to be in areas where the wealthy and the tourists are I mean Wall Street what else should I say this really doesn't help the majority of the citizens and all the other boroughs it only helps the 1%🤨

In my Opinion this is waste of taxpayer Money the City should be using the money to Increase Subway & Bus Service
