How Often to Cut Your Lawn 

Thanks Doc, I was not cutting my Bermuda often enough and had a lot of clippings to deal with. Looks like I'll be cutting every 2 days now as it's growing like crazy!

I recently got off schedule and had to get back on track I first Verticut, then scarified, then a hard cut before getting somewhat back on track.

I’ve seen some mixed reviews on Doc’s Super Juice but using it my lawn has never looked so good also using pgf complete it really pops

I bought the 25 inch Mclane GR-series reel mower based on your recommendation. Could you show the pass around the flower beds and the turns at the beds? I assume you mow into the border and release the power, pull up the drive wheels and make the turn. Need to see how not to tear up the grass. Thanks

Hello Doc! I am 8 days in on a brand new Bermuda sod installation in my tiny front yard. I plan on doing the first cut here in about a week or so once the rain subsides here in upstate SC. What are your thoughts on bagging, mulching, or side discharge as I break this sod in during its first growing season? Your advice would be most welcome, Sir!

How do you keep the clippings from going into your flower bed? My new reel mower was spraying them into my neighbors flower bed like crazy.

I get the same wave effect using my Fiskars stay sharp mower. It’s about 3 years old and I think it might be bent. I keep it on the lowest setting. My lawn is somewhat uneven but in general it’s around a 1” to 1.25” height. I was thinking of getting a Clipper reel mower anybody know anything about these?? I live in central Texas and having to cut every 2 or 3 days. I’ve been following your advice since last October and my lawn has taken off so thanks Doc!!

If I want to cut my bermudagrass once a week then what cutting height to you suggest for a rotary mower?

A finely cared for lawn is like a finely detailed car.... how often do you cut? Daily if you can.... How often do you detail your car? Daily if you can. The goal is to never have it look bad. Always perfect (or damn near close).

How often? Every day unless it’s raining. It’s the only time I can get quiet. And I’m a northern lawn at 3 inches.

Army worms are hitting us early in Texas. What happened to the liquid killer (your step 2) permethrin? Amazon does not seem to carry it?.. also, do you have videos or images of army worm damage? So far, I only have thinning in an area of the yard -I can see all the Bermuda runners, but the green grass is sparse. (I thought I had a watering/heat issue) but my neighbor had bad army worm attacks and I used your soapy water test and found them in my yard too. Will the grass come back thick with proper treatment and feeding ; even in hot late summer?

Doc, why is that when I cut my yard once a week, I see more yellow/brown. It goes from really green to greenish yellow after I cut it. Why is that?

cut mine 3-4 times a week depending on rain and growth. if i miss a day or 2 due to rain i will collect my clippings. I cut at 1"
