HIS ROYAL MAJESTY OBA DR. (Prof.) SAKA ADELOLA MATEMILOLA, (PhD, Fnse) OLUYALO OTILETA VII, the 14th OLOWU OF OWU Kingdom, Abeokuta, Ogun State (Western Nigeria) had his 2nd Coronation Anniversary on Saturday August 3rd Year 2024 and the next day, Sunday August 4 was his 60th birthday ceremony.
Dignitaries from all walks of life joined Owu sons and daughters both home and abroad, as they converged under one roof to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. (Prof) Saka Adelola Matemilola (Oluyalo Otileta VII) the Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta.
The event which held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Event Center in Abeokuta, Ogun State was also the climax of activities marking the 2nd Year Anniversary of the monarch.
The event had the presence of prominent personalities including kings, High Chiefs and well-wishers.
Before ascending the throne of his forefathers, Kabiyesi Oba Saka Matemilola PhD Cantab, distinguished himself through a multifaceted career as an engineer, scholar and philanthropist. He embarked on his academic journey at the University of Ibadan, where he earned a first class honors degree in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an Msc.
His quest for knowledge led him to various foreign Universities like the University of Cambridge, UK, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Dharam, Saudi Arabia, University of Southampton, UK. Upon returning to Nigeria, he furthered his impact with roles at Shell Petroleum Development Company and FIRST Exploration & Production Company.
He was enthroned as the 14th Olowu of Owu Kingdom in Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria in the year 2022.
In his two years reign in office, Owu Kingdom has witnessed a paradigm shift from the norm. Kabiyesi's commitment to community development is palpable through his various initiatives aimed at fostering education, healthcare and economic prosperity within his realms through the Ade-Oba Empowerment Foundation (AEF), a registered entity in both the United States and Nigeria, he continues to spearhead initiatives to elevate technical and entrepreneurial skills, enhance primary healthcare services and bolster small scale businesses by providing essential work equipment and facilitating access to micro finance facilities.
Notable dignitaries present included; His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Aremu Okikiolakan Obasanjo (GCFR) the Prime Minister/Balogun of Owu Kingdom and former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Her Excellency, Engineer Noimot Salako, Deputy Governor of Ogun State; His Excellency Senator Ibikunle Amosun, (Former Governor of Ogun State); His Excellency Otunba Gbenga Daniel (former Governor of Ogun State and Senator, Ogun East Senatorial Zone) Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola (Former Nigerian Envoy to the United kingdom), Senator Shuaib Salisu and many others like the Parakoyi of Owu Kingdom, Chief M Ola-Yussuf, the Otun of Owu Kingdom, Chief Doja Adewolu (MFR) with his wife, Justice Yetunde Adewolu, Ogun State Commissioner for forestry, Engineer Taiwo Oludotun, Former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Honorable Mrs. Titi Oseni, Iyalode of Owu Kingdom, Chief (Mrs.) Adenike Lawal, Osi-Iyalode of Owu Kingdom, Chief (Mrs.) Mopelola Adegbenro and many others.
Royal Fathers in attendance included; HRM, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR (Okukenu IV) the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba Land; HRM Oba (Prof.) The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle'; HRM Adeyemi Obalanlege (The Olota of Ota, Awori Kingdom) HRM, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Adewale Tejuosho, Karounwi III, The Osile Oke Ona Egba; The Timi of Ede His Royal Majesty Oba Munirudeen Lawal' HRM Oba Adekunle Makama Oyelude CON, Tegbosun III, the Olowu of Kuta along other notable royal fathers.
In this PART 2 of the Birthday event, the Olori Omo-Oba of Ijebu Land and Fuji Music Czar King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1 De Ultimate) serenade Owu Elites and friends of Owu Kingdom with entertainment at the OOPL Event Center, Abeokuta.
