Very nice house and I like the concept. However that "bunker" in case of fire is useless. A major forest fire will suck the air out of it unless it is 100% air tight and then there is a question of the heat on that metal door.

Love the home and the aspects. But is it right that they clear-cut trees in a forest to build a house much bigger than needed for only two people to live in?

That is my dream but I want a biogas plant too and rain water harwesting with wells and growing my food and cattles

Videos like this are great at making you feel guilty because you can't afford the land, much less the custom home integrated with a five figure solar system and hydro power to boot! Feels great to be self sufficient - as long as you're a millionaire to get started.

I would love to have a conversation with you. We are moving back to Tasmania to retire next year, presently looking for suitable land. We are very keen about Off Grid living as we don't necessarily want to have to build next to the road. We are not hippies at all, rather retiring business people who want to be self sufficient. We are finding it difficult to get correct information on Off Grid with solar and probably wind turbine. Your little water turbine is very interesting. We are looking around the N-W of Tasmania with around 20ha in mind.

Your an engineer what exactly do you for a living this house is amazing I’m also an engineer love to play with my gadgets around the house which I built myself in London. My surplus solar powers my Mitsubishi Phev for 25 miles for free.

how much to rent one room from them?

judging by the modest fence, the entire territory in front of the house, on the slope, including the road, is private property. and the driveway to the house is closed, with another fence, with a gate that was not shown in the video, behind the forest. So? otherwise, any intruder will get into this house

I love how people can describe self sufficiency as if all people can possibly live like the way they do. I would be more impressed if they can live an area 1/10 of what they have and utilize less, be a minimalist perhaps? How big of a home do these people really need?

if we think everyone is going to harvest their own power, and become more self sufficient, we can't do it with video's like this, everyone dreams of such a mansion with such a view, but that is not what everyone will get. this video explains how people bought a way too big part of land for just them two, placed a way too big house on it for them two, and then explains to everyone how they went selfsufficient and now everyone can. honestly, this is nice, and it's something people can dream about, but it's not reality.

This is way too costly for the average person. While the benefit of being self sufficient would be nice with no bills, the cost to get that is tremendous.

So is this the future home for the well off and not for everyone? Because certainly each couple would require an acre or more to be self sustaining in this manner. Think of it another way. Would this set up work if one have neighbours? And how far do they have to be apart? In cities suites are separated by 1” air gap because real estate is expensive which brings into question the title of this video...what does future of homes really mean?
